Osterfield : Midnight

"It's a wonder we didn't
meet after 12 eh?"

Saturday
3:57 pm

The yellow flares of the sun went shining through my eyes as I slowly cracked them open after a deep, long slumber. We have finally arrived at our destination after hours and hours of driving on the road. My friends, or colleagues in this situation perhaps, and I are here for our research, the key requirement for us to graduate. All three looks from my mates were on me as I groaned. I am a bit moody when my sleep is bothered.

The four of us got out of the vehicle we rented. If you were wondering as to why we have to rent a car when we could just use our own, we travelled overseas just to get the quality information we want for this study. We didn't want to give something we just read off the related literatures found in online journals. Our main goal is to give the best output that we can; we want our paper to be a part of an international conference.

Everyone picked their luggages up from the trunk of the car, and rolled them through the rough cement road of the parking lot leading to the lobby of the hotel. The boys of our team carried the equipment bought with us, leaving us, the girls, to bring their backpacks for them. Not that I'm complaining, but the backpack that I'm carrying is way beyond heavier than my backpack, luggage, and purse all combined. It was like he packed his entire flat into this bag. Thank you, Jerome.

Entering the lobby, one can truly say that this is grand and expensive. Actually, I myself am still fascinated with the fact that we will stay here for two whole weeks. I can say that each one of us do have the money, but to stay here for quite long period of time at one of their premiere suites in separate rooms, that's another story. It is very unusual for students to have this, in my knowledge at least.

"I'll check us all in," Luke pointing towards the front desk. "Y'all can sit down and relax."

Luke took off as we headed to the couches that were waiting for us. The first thing that I did upon reaching it is placing Jerome's backpack "gently" on the ground. Plopping down sofa, a familiar face went into the frame of my eyes; however, I wasn't that sure whether I have the right guy in mind or not. I just continued glaring on Jerome who was laughing endlessly.

Sunday
2:14 am

It turned out to be a successful day one, we accomplished more than what we oughted to do despite the fact that we only had half of the day left. Obviously, the team got tired causing them to doze off in our separate rooms hours ago from this given point of time. For some reason, I was still awake, not a single cell in my body is tired. I got out of my room to explore this hotel, and see what it has to offer.

I went to the rooftop to see the stars that was set on the heavens to shine below us. Even though I majored in a media related program for college, I grew up having an eye for astronomy. I even wanted to work for NASA. Honestly, I am considering to take up astrophysics after I graduate.

Reaching my desired level, I settled down by one of the chairs. I was alone in this floor level, and I assume that no one would be roaming around the establishment by this hour. With that, I began to sing a few songs that I listened to prior to sleeping on the way here. I feel free.

"Nice voice." I heard a voice say behind me.

I startled a little bit; maybe saying that I jumped from my seat is not an appropriate word. My butt ended up on the floor for some reason. Trying to stand up, the manly figure in front of me decided to help me up. He held me with both his hands and asked, "Are you okay?"

"I am." I chuckled. "I just got scared back there. I'm sorry."

"I should be the one saying sorry." He laughed. "I'm Harrison, by the way."

"Y/N. I really love that name, Harrison." I smiled.

Silence filled the place. It wasn't awkward though, it was more of a calming one even though I was still in Harrison' arms. Something about us is not right, especially with me feeling this way. I'm normally the odd one when it comes to a boy.

I looked at Harrison who slowly placed his arms down, "I guess I'll go back to my room now. My crew and I have an early task tomorrow."

Monday
4:12 am

I looked at Jerome who just stood up from the chair across mine. We stayed here at the rooftop just chatting about life outside our paper. We had a good six year gap, but we still get each other's experiences in general. None of us got to do something like such ever since we began this study; we got really busy.

"Are you sure that you'll stay here?" He asked in a really concerned manner.

"Yeah." I nodded. "I'll be fine."

"Just remember that we have to leave by noon." He replied leaving the area.

I scanned the area to see if anyone was there, and my heart started to pump out of my chest upon seeing the same figure as last night's. I actually still haven't seen the face of Harrison, all that I have an idea about is his height, body built, and hairstyle. I wondered if it was him, so I stood up from my seat and walked towards his.

"Y/N!" He said surprised upon seeing me trail to him.

"You remembered me." I sat down beside him.

"Of course." He replied.

I looked over at him to examine his face since the lighting at this area is a lot more better than last night's. It wasn't how I expected it though, he was really good looking, especially with his breathtaking blue-green eyes. I got myself lost in space, a boy had never stopped my world this way. Well, a good exemption for Harrison here is that he happens to be my celebrity crush. The guy who held me last night was the man I never thought I would meet.

"Y/N, are you okay?" He asked as he noticing my endless glance.

"I am. I just remembered something." I chuckled. "Something very embarrassing actually."

"Tell me all about it." He smiled.

"It's better left unsaid. I don't want anything between us to change." I said.

Talks were made the whole night, that we didn't even realize that the sun was already set high up in the sky. We shared our personal thoughts and experiences about numerous things; it was definitely a meltdown-worthy type of conversation. We may have different occupations and hobbies, but both of us got along pretty amazing, well for people who met for the first time at least. A special connection had been made between us, obviously.

"Don't you have to be ready by twelve?" He asked.

"Yeah—wait, how'd you know that?" I looked at him pretty shock. "Were you eavesdropping?!"

Thursday
1:54 am

It was another midnight that I can describe as something worthwhile, I had the chance to hang out with Harrison, again. Believe it or not, our meetings here aren't planned, maybe it just became a little routine of some sort. I love it actually— I mean, I get to talk to someone wherein general research is not being mentioned in any segue possible.

"It's weird that we hang out every night, but we still don't know why we are here." I grinned.

"I am with Tom, and I'm sure you've also heard about Jacob." He smirked. "I'm having a good trip with them. And you?"

"I'm doing a research– well, my team and I rather." I shook my head. "We want to give something that the board does not expect, in a good way of course."

"That sounds cool... and smart." He answered laughing by the end.

"We want our paper to be a part of an international conference, actually." I looked straight up at the sky.

Saturday
1:02 am

It was an odd day for me, especially when I learned that Luke's family was the one who owned this hotel. I looked like a complete idiot telling him, Jerome, and Lia about how amazing it was that we get such amazing treatment. I did not have a clue that he was the owner's son. On the other hand, it was an amazing benefit for us.

"Harrison!" I shouted upon reaching the rooftop. We started to meet here every night, and just talk about each other's day or random memories we collected throughout our years of existence.

"Y/N!" He called back running to me. "You look different today."

I looked down at what I was wearing, a red-long sleeved dress paired with a pair of heels I borrowed from Lia. My cheeks began to burn red as if he complimented me. This get up is definitely something I won't typically wear, but thanks to this convention who wanted me to discuss the results of my previous study to children, I got myself looking like a weird voodoo doll. I ain't complaining though, at least I look presentable in front of Harrison.

"Well," I sighed sitting down at one of the benches. "I got invited to discuss the data of one of my previous studies."

"You should've trained Tom before he went undercover." He laughed. "You're a genius!"

"I'm not even near that." I tucked a piece of loose hair behind my ear.

"Being a researcher is hard. Just the sound of it makes my head bleed." He joked. "What's your study about though?"

"I studied about what teenagers really are today through the context of movies." I looked at him. "Basically, I tried to write an image of what the youth are through the films that I saw."

The talk went deeper, that Haz wanted me to talk about my study thoroughly. It took about a a good hour since we also exchanged insights about the topic. Though it went into smaller branches, we managed to stay into our root topic, surprisingly. Every single time we meet, we put ourselves into a deeper relationship.

Friday
5:54 pm

The wind brushed harshly against my flesh as I opened the door to get out of the car. We just finished our session for today. My crew and I finished gathering more than seventy five percent of the information that we need; we are way beyond our schedule. The weather may not be the most cooperative, but the fact that we are almost done makes me blissful.

I briskly walked towards the lobby, wanting to be attached to the strongest magnet ever, the bed. I obviously lack hours of sleep because of my little hang out session with Harrison. My only source of energy would be my numerous power naps during the day and the coffee running through the veins of my body. I have to admit that it is nowhere near healthy, but for some reason, I find it really worth it.

I entered through the revolving doors and to the spacious welcome area. A lot of things were occupying my mind that moment, but everything stopped when I saw Harrison with a gloomy face. His hand gripped onto his suitcase real tight, in my observation at least. I sprinted over to his direction to see what is up.

"What's up? Isn't your check out at twelve tomorrow?" I raised my eyebrow in full confusion.

"Tom needs to get back to Atlanta later this night." He looked at me. "We didn't have any prior notice until just two hours ago."

"I understand." I sighed. "It's a wonder we didn't meet after 12 eh?"

"Yeah," he held my hands. "But I didn't expect it to be this way."

"Come on, it's okay." I smiled.

"No." He said sternly.

"And why is that so?" I asked I lifted my head up to see his orbs.

Everything around the world stopped moving, every single person disappeared, it was just us at that moment. He placed his palm on my cheeks and caressed it in a way no one had ever did; that gesture of him made tears roll down from my ducts. I continued to look at his perfect eyes that was a perfect mixture of blue and green, I knew that this could be our last meeting. Slowly, he moved towards me, inch by inch, it was a gentle gesture from such a fine man. By that same moment, he locked his lips on mine.

I honestly don't know if I like the way I wrote this or not. I feel like it is a bit rushed. It's not my best output, but I hope y'all liked it.

Anyways, this is my very first Harrison imagine. Actually, I am writing a book about him, but it's still unpublished since I ain't completely sure.

Plus, I made this "research" themed because my class and I are nearly dying because of it. On the positive note, we also want our papers to be a part of a conference. aquariathesnowarcher knows how much my group have progressed since day one (aka 0.5%).

That's all for now.
