This chapter is all over the place. Sorry about that I was just kinda writing today for fun. But I hope you guys enjoy thus all the same.

Barney ran his fingers through his hair as Ross checked on Red. He currently paced back and fourth, already telling Ross about Pink.

"Barney it wasn't your fault." Ross said as he grabbed a knife and cut Reds shirt in half, making the cloth fall off his body.

The male sighed in defeat, walking up to the two. Red was laying on a metal table Ross had in his lab. While Barney was bringing the small male to Ross, he had ended up passing out.

The squirrel the wrapped some white bandages around Reds stomach. Barney watched him before something else caught his attention. "Apple?"

The pirate male looked toward the entrance and saw the little apple standing there, worry covering his face. Barney let out a small smile and bent down, holding out a hand. The fruit was hesitant but walked up to the male, twisting the little branches around his flesh.

"Red?" Apple said looking around. Barneys eyes widened slightly, sadness seeping through him. He then carefully lifted Apple up and set him on the table.

Ross came up next to the dino, a disgusted look on his face. "The escaped experiment." He mumbled before checking Red's pulse. Apple walked up to Red and touched his face lightly with his hand.

Red didn't move which made Apple grab the shirt fabric that was laying on the table, and laid down next to him, using the cloth as a pillow/ blanket. Barney smiled at the care and connection the two had together.

"Why didn't you kill that thing?" Ross asked harshly as he grabbed his clipboard.

"Because, it's his. . . sidekick, partner, companion. He likes him and I won't take that away from him." He calmly stated. He heard Ross hum with a little laughter in his voice.

Barney turned and looked towards him, confused. Ross's smile only grew. "Either someone is affected by the smells or you have a thing for Red." Barney stayed silent, he glared at the squirrel then looked at Red who shifted slightly. "I've seen the same thing with Squid and Stampy, I just never thought you would be affected so soon. After all we've been through." The last sentence drooped the cheery mood, making the room grow still.

"Yeah, what we've been through. . ." Barney said coldly, remembering the times when the facility was first up and running. Red shifted once more, making the mood fade away.

"I'll leave you two to talk." Ross said as he walked out, his tail swinging side to side before he was engulfed in darkness.

Barney sighed as he watched Red. He noticed all the small little details in his face that final stood out to him. The light freckles, the way his hair fell, the small creases that showed he smiled a lot. He moved slightly before he slowly opened his eyes.

Red looked down and found Apple alseep near his stomach that was now patched up. Questions ran through his mind about the bandages but he only smiled and twirled his finger around the little leaf on Apples head. His gaze then shifted to Barney and his smile faded and his eyes lost the soft brown color.

"I'm not even gonna ask anymore cause at this point I don't think you'll be able to stay out of my life huh? Either by fate or by choice. . ." He simply stated. Barney stiffened as Red said this.

"Its not your choice. . ." He said softly, turning his head to look at Ross's lab setup and refusing to look at the ginger.

"Then who the fuck gets to make the fuckin decisions?" Red snapped at that male as he sat up on the table, his eyes on fire. Barney gripped the edge of the metal table, locking gazes with the younger male.

"The other Vacktors that's who. They come running to me whenever they start acting up. Blue came to be when you were depressed and I had to hold him back from cutting himself. Yellow, granted I was in the same room, but he clung to my back and talking nonstop! Pink found ME AND THREW HERSLEF AT ME! YOU REALLY EXPECT ME TO LEAVE YOU AFTER WHAT IVE BEEN THROUGH!?" He yelled at the male, his eyes on fire.

Reds eyes widened at the info, his expression softened. He licked his lips searching the purple eye of the male, trying to find something to say. Barneys hand then held Reds cheek and he leaned in closer to his face. Red moved back a centimeter or two before the warm breath of the older male his other cheek. "Cause I'm not gonna fucking leave you." He whispered before kissing the small male.

Red froze and his mind when blank. He didn't kiss back and his eyes were wide. When Barney pulled away Red looked up at him, his eyes soft and filled with many emotions. Barneys sighed softly and then walked away from the table, heading into the dark hallway.

Red wanted to call out to him, make him come back and say those things once more but he didn't he just watched him fade away. Red sighed and looked at the table, seeing Apple looking up at him. "Love Barney?"

By the time Ross let Red go, mating season was over and the normal supply runs started up again. Red didn't want to do anything with the other male and tried to stay away from him as much as possible. By doing this he trained a lot, either by himself or with others.

Because of this, he ended up meeting some other mutants like Jerome and Preston. This Preston mostly wore a flannel shirt, with a white shirt underneath and jeans to top if off. He was part bear, small ears coming out of the mess of hair and large claws in the place of fingernails. He was strong in fighting and so was Jerome. Jerome was part bacca which is a whole new species entirely.

He normally wore a suit with a blood red tie. He was covered in fur but he seemed to take care of himself. He was very silent except when I cane to snapping at Red or showing him how to do something better, and Red didn't mind this.

This vigorous training continued for about a whole month and he did it pretty well.

"Barney, there have been more suspicious activity near the warehouse." Red heard Jess tell the male as he was grabbing a snack before more training. He heard soft mumbles and thought nothing of the situation. 

He sighed and decided to go pay a visit to Apple who was always trapped in Reds room. The ginger decided to treat the creature to something special for today. He found this out when he needed to get the extra supplies. Red looked up at the ceiling, looking through the gutters that showed the world above. The small rays warmed patches of his skin, making him feel normal once more.

He currently sat criss-cross on the concrete floor, looking that the sky that shown through. Apple currently lay in his lap, sleeping. He had the largest patch of sun, being a plant and all.

This supply room was on the third floor, and in the farthest corner. Red turned his head to the door as it creaked softly. His heart fell when he saw it was Barney. "None of the other Vacktors are here, why are you?" He said, turning back around and setting his elbow on his knee while his hand cupped his face.

"I came looking for you." He said sitting down next to the ginger. Red glanced over and saw that he held and beer bottle in his hand.

"You're not drunk are you?" He asked, a smile forming on his face.

Barney let out a small chuckle, relaxing slightly. "Nah, this is only my second one." He said swishing the sticky liquid around the glass. Red nodded and turned his attention back to the sky. "Red we need to talk."

"I don't want to." Red said harshly, shifting his gaze to his partner in his lap.

"Red you can't keep running away from me. . . " Barney said softly.

"Then stay out of my life. I never wanted this, I never asked for this. I just want to be normal and out of this fucking city." He said roughly. Silence then filled the room and it was deafening.

"Welp, better get used to life like this." The pirate male said before topping off his beer. Red sighed in defeat, knowing he couldn't escape. Barney didn't trust him anyway, he never went on supply trips or anything. It was to always practice fighting, nothing more.

"I'm heading to bed." Red said as he carefully picked up the fruit, hoping not to wake him up. Once in the doorway he froze and looked back on the other male, his back turned to him. "And, if any of the Vacktor come tonight, push them away. I dont want anything to do with you." And with that he left the room, the door closing behind him.

Barney bit his bottom lip to stop the sobs from leaving his lips. Once the door closed he let the tears fall and soft sobs escape. Out of anger he threw the beer bottle at the wall, making it shatter. He then brought his knees up to his chest and buried his head, his sobs louder than before.
