Chapter 16
Sooo as a way to be convenient for both sides, I've decided to shorten the chapters, but in doing so, I'll be adding more detail into the story, kinda having it like my One-Shot book. Or lengthen the story and have it be detailed but have delayed updates!
This one will be long, hopefully detailed, and not delayed
================================
It was late, well not that late, but enough for y/n to count it as so. The air was cool, sending small jolts and shivers through his back. To be specific, it was rather soothing. Serving as a great remedy for the mental troubles that our main character was facing.
Stepping into the square always held a great feeling. Even if faces didn't seem to register him standing among them, he knew that they knew.
Laughter, yelling, and normal chatter seemed to burn off the walls in the shoal, stepping closer to see what's new, the lights burned into y/n's eyes, leaving hot white flashes every time he blinked, brining up his right arm, the cellapod rubbed his eye with the soft fabric that made up his black squid sisters hoodie.
"Jesus," he would curse, blinking rapidly to ease away the dots, "you'd think that all my time spent here, I would be immune." The inkling joked to himself, though his face was rather grim, he walked in.
No one, like normal, gave him a hello. Not that y/n was going to think it would happen, still he thought, "it would be nice."
Looking around his eyes landed upon a new installment, pacing over he ran a hand across the new system, stopping at the first joystick.
The bright red color of, please enter 25 coins, invited him warmly.
Time quickly became a meaningless word as y/n played, detaching himself from pain, anguish, and other feelings that currently plauged his soul.
Though the sound of soft coughing caught his attention.
Shrugging it off, he continued, just for the coughing to do the same, steadily getting louder and more inpatient.
"Look," y/n said softly, holding a threatning tone in his voice, though it was silent and steady, "I don't have any cough drops, and if you think I'm going to stop for you your surely mistaken."
After a few moments the coughing stopped, and then became poking. It was soft and non eratic, meaning whoever was pissing him off was doing so deliberately, and either didn't hear his threat or were just plain dumb.
Slamming one heel down, y/n spun around to face a female with mainly black ink, with splotches and dots of magneta here and there.
On her head, sat a nice little cat bow. To match she wore a pink sweater with black pants and from what y/n could tell, black boots.
Eyeing the girl up and down once more he realised why he was being poked, and as quick as his anger flared up, it died down.
"Ah...sorry Cal" y/n muttered, dropping his gaze to the floor, watching his feet rub and twist at the ground as if it was a new scientific discovery.
When the girl spoke, her voice was soft, calm, warm, and oddly enough after being yelled at, happy.
"It's alright y/n, I just came here to the shoal to play around when I noticed you playing this." She gestured to the arcade game, a invisible smirk playing at her face.
Y/n nodded and turned around again to face the flashing words of, you died insert 50 coins to continue.
"Nah, I shouldn't have been mean, hell you've been through cod knows what and here you are, all happy to see me." His tone grew soft, as if it was a subject he didn't want to tread on lightly. As if the slightist wrong word could ruin even the strongest of friendships.
At this Callie giggled, it was as warm as her voice was and caused a small blush to creep it's way onto y/n's face.
"Anywho y/n," Callie spoke, leaning onto the machine while her pink eyes studied his disheveled and tired appearance, "how long have you been here?"
Y/n groaned and checked his phone to notice that it was seven am, "since twelve at night."
Now that his focus wasn't on beating eight bit pixel ass, fatigue began to Rob him of whatever energy he could muster to even blink.
"What! Why?" Callie's voice rang in and out.
Quickly, the floor began to turn and Callie's image blurred, and y/n found himself once again facing a large blanket of darkness.
================================
Bright light filtered through y/ns eyes, bringing awareness to his nervous system that it was time to wake up.
Slipping a singular eye open, he could make out a dark room with a single window with it's blinds slightly open, directing the filtered light towards his head.
Looking a little lower he noticed that he was laying on a couch, nothing too fancy, just simple leather.
A soft tapping of footsteps met his ears and soon enough, the door across the room swung open and two females stepped inside.
One had blue hair, two large tentacles going down her back reaching her waist. On her head was a orange bobble hat, for body equipment she had a simple black shirt with some aviators clipped on the neck, and some black shorts, the edge of the couch stopped him from seeing her feet.
The other girl was a orange inkling with darker skin than he and most others, she had some designer headphones hunt on her neck, a pastel red jacket with a gray shirt underneath, he could tell since the jacket was zipped up halfway from the chest to the neck, she had yoga pants and some simple sandals, and unlike the blue inkling, she seemed to exert a much more dominate force.
Y/n recognized them as agent four, and agent three.
"Mmm....mornin" y/n mumbled softly to the two who stood in the doorway, seeming to drop all formality, "could one of you two shut the blinds? It's killin' me" to emphasize this, y/n draped one arm over his forehead.
He couldn't see who did it, but the filtering of light decreased and there was a soft 'slap' of plastic hitting the window sill.
"Mmm," y/n mumbled softly in gratitude, turning to face the backside of the couch, "thank you four,"
The room went silent as the blue inkling tried to understand how he knew, that's when the orange one flicked her forehead, giving a small answer to her,
'i guess three isn't nice enough to shut them for him, typical tsundere'
================================
Slipping off the couch, y/n fumbled around, cursing incoherent phrases as he hit items here and there, eventually making it out the door and into the hallway.
It was lightly decorated with pale blue walls, a singular oak stool, and one window that looked out into inkopolis city.
Rounding the corner he came into a larger room that he couldn't mistake as the lounge, there were three expensive leather couches, two black leather chairs, a oak wood and glass coffee table, and a large fifty inch plasma television with multiple movies underneath it.
"Dam," y/n slipped out barely as a whisper, "this place is decked out."
"Thank you," a soft gentle voice spoke directly into his ear, sending all the wrong notations into his fight and flight senses, causing Y/n to jump up like a cat who was sprayed with water, hitting his hand into the door frame whilst stepping backwards, effectively harming himself.
"Fuck don't do that!" Y/n hissed softly, rubbing his now red hand.
"Sorry," agent four mumbled with a sheepish smile, using one hand to rub the back of her head, four replied, "Three left so it's just you and me, and I saw you eye the TV."
Y/n grinned, his sharp teeth glinting off from the light, "does that mean...movie time?" He asked, crossing two fingers behind himself like a child would do.
Though to his dismay, agent four shook her head no, "sorry, it actually means," four mumbled while stepping around y/n, striding over to the cabinet located under the TV, quickly she pulled out a small device with two small controllers, "it's game time!"
Again, just like while at the shoal, y/n and four lost all track of time, slipping through the hours like a snake would a forest floor.
And then y/n realised he hadn't eaten in in two days
