OIL OCEAN ZONE

Kaze: This place...what exactly was Robotnik doing before I got here?

Kaze and Amai made it to the next zone, that being Oil Ocean. But what greeted them was the current state of the zone. This place was polluting nearby regions and of course filled the zones with badniks that needed to be destroyed.

The background featured various brown buildings underneath an orange sky with a few clouds and a white sun with an effect that caused it to "wiggle" from side to side. The platforms here are purple and yellow, with green and yellow silo-looking structures. The bottom of Oil Ocean Zone was flooded with oil that has polluted the ocean.

Kaze: Well lets not waste anymore time!

Kaze took off as he began running across the platforms, he off of a platform that began to collapse underneath him and he quickly spin jumped to the next platform and just began platforming as Amai was flying behind him.

Both Kaze and Amai sped through the zone, occasionally destroying badniks. In this case, badniks that resembled Octopuses and Seahorses.

He then came across a launching platform that was launched into the air due to the fact that the flames from beneath it would launch it. He landed on the top area as he spin dashed and made his way to an elevator that took him further up.

He then spin jumped forward but was suddenly launched down as something that was pouring a lot of oil made contact with him and forced him downward. He then began sliding downward on the little oil slides in which made him land in the oil below him.

Kaze: Oh come on! Wait, this isn't water so I can't drown but I need to find a way to keep myself afloat.

Kaze began spin jumping to keep himself from drowning in the oil until eventually Amai came to his rescue as he grabbed him and flew on him toward stable ground.

Kaze: *coughing* T-Thanks Amai...you saved my neck.

Amai: No problem Kaze. We're friends after all.

They both smiled and fist bumped each other. Amai then noticed another pole in the distance. The same pole that has taken them to the special zones to retrieve the chaos emeralds.

Kaze: Shall we?

Amai: Yes we shall.

Both Kaze and Amai began spin dashing as they both charged towards a ramp and landed towards the goal as it sparkled and instantly transported them to a special zone as they made their way across the race track.

Kaze jumped over a row of bombs but Amai was to slow to react which resulted in him getting hit. Kaze looked back to see if Amai was alright as he jumped over another row of bombs and swerved left and right to avoid more of them.

He then spotted the last chaos emerald, the color of this one was a dark blue. He speed up to an even greater speed as his feet and legs became an infinite symbol as his legs were completely blurred as he super peeled out in order to pick up his speed and go faster.

He caught up to it and finally managed to grab it.

Kaze: Got it!

Kaze and Amai were immediately transported back to Oil Ocean as a bright light glow emanated from Kaze's hand as all seven chaos emeralds floated in front of him and disappeared. The boy in blue then looked on in the distance with a determined look on his face as he unknowingly flashed a quick yellow and back to his normal blue as only Amai noticed.

Amai: Ah! K-Kaze!

Kaze: Hm? What is it Amai?

Amai: ...No. Never mind. It's nothing.

Kaze: Uhhh...alright then.

Kaze took off as a blue streak as Amai spin jumped and began flying. Kaze sped towards a object that launched him into a canon as he was pretty much, launched into multiple other canons.

As both he and Amai eventually made it past all the obstacles. Kaze came to a stop as there were only two platforms separated from each other, the only thing surrounding them was the oil ocean.

Kaze's senses were going off. Something was here. I guess you say a boss battle.

Kaze: Wait, why do I hear boss music.

Amai *sweatdropping*: Really Kaze?

Kaze: I had to make the joke at least once!

They both looked at the oil to see something rising out of it. It was the Doctor in his Eggmobile except it looked like a submarine.

Dr. Robotnik: Hohohoho!!! What do you think of this Kaze?! I made this invention specifically for this occasion!

Kaze: Whatever Robotnik! It looks like another one of your toys I'll end up destroying!

Dr.Robotnik: We will see now won't we?

Robotnik quickly submerged under the oil as a blade that resembled a scorpion's tail was launched at Kaze and Amai, prompting the two to quickly spin jump over the attack towards the next platform. But shortly after a laser gun rose from the oil as it shot out a bright blue beam towards the duo.

Kaze quickly grabbed Amai and jumped over it. And sidestepped the other two shots. The Doctor then rose from the oil again as he laughed at the duo.

Kaze: Alright Amai, any ideas?

Amai: Hmmm....

Amai looked at the machine Robotnik was currently operating and immediately found a solution.

Amai: I got it! Kaze all we have to do is dodge those attacks and the moment he rises up from the oil, we land out attacks on him from there.

Kaze: Nice and simple, I like it!

Kaze charged and landed a spin attack on the Eggmarine

This would go on repeat as the duo dodged Robotnik's attacks and landed their own spin attacks on the Eggmarine.

Dr. Robotnik: No...Not again!

Robotnik tried to descend back into the oil but before he could do anything...

Kaze: I DON'T THINK SO DOCTOR!

Amai: WE AREN'T DONE YET!

Robotnik looked up, only to be shocked that Kaze and Amai were descending down upon him, Amai with his tails in a position to swipe them while Kaze was in the position of landing an ace kick.

The moment their attacks landed, the Eggmarine started to smoking and blowing up.

Dr.Robotnik: Damn it...again?! I've been bested by a bunch of kids...AGAIN!!!

Robotnik soon fled the zone as Kaze and Amai chased after him as well as destroying one of the capsules that was full of animals.

AN: The boss theme stops here

METROPOLIS ZONE

Kaze: So...I'm guessing this is like his...base of operations...?

This zone in particular was a heavily industrialized city located on the island. The background was filled with huge buildings in many colors with various working machines, while the foreground was made out of green metal and red/orange chain-link fences.

Amai: This place seems to be heavily industrialized. It makes me wonder what other things the Doctor created.

Kaze: Probably more badniks.

Kaze looked at his hand as he remembered when he fought the Doctor back in the Scrap Brain Zone. That blue lightning...could he use it again? If so, then how long could he use it for? Was there even a limit? What was even the trigger for it? Last time,  he was in a near death situation and he felt a strong desperation to protect the island. Maybe it reacted on emotions? He would have to see and find out later on.

Kaze: Come on, let's go!

Kaze charged forward until he was surprisingly caught off guard as he was launched upwards towards an upper platform as he was trying to keep his balance the moment he landed.

Kaze: !!!!

He didn't notice a badnik that resembled a star right behind him. It blew up as needles were launched in all directions.

Kaze: Wha-?!

The boy had no time to react as one of the needles hit him as he fell off and some of his rings dropped out of him.

Kaze: Ow!

Amai: Kaze!

Kaze: I'm fine Amai! We'll meet up somewhere around here, just keep going!

Kaze replied while trying to recover.

Amai nodded and went his own way around the zone. Kaze then made his way across multiple platforms and different contraptions. Running into various badniks that resembled the crabs, like the ones back on Green Hill, except it launched its claw at him.

He narrowed dodged it and spin dashed the badnik as a little animal crawled out of it. He then jumped on a grey button as a brown platform appeared across from him, he quickly hopped on that as he jumped towards it and landed on it and began running as Amai was flying behind him but got hit by the needle that was launched the moment the badnik exploded.

Kaze soon was once again, launched into the air and landed near another crab badnik as it tried to hit him with its claw but he was quick this time to go into ball form as he swerved back and charged forward and destroyed the badnik instantly.

He kept going as he made through springs, crushers and jumped across platforms that were thrusting arrows from all 5 sides but was hit and fell off with the same thing happening to Amai.

Kaze landed on a giant metal nut that the humans would use to build things. He began running in place as the metal nut made its way up. He then jumped off of it as he narrowly dodged more needles from the star badniks but was once again hit by a praying mantis badnik as it threw its blades towards Kaze and hit him.

Both him and Amai landed on a conveyer belt as Amai was going up and Kaze was going down.

Kaze: Ow...this place is crazy...!

Amai: No kidding, the amount of times I was nearly crushed...I lost count after four.

Kaze: Ugh...come on buddy.

They both spin jumped towards the bottom as they began walking the rest of the way as they platform across lava and more conveyer belts. The moment they made it near the end they were bombarded with multiple badniks, all in which launched their multiple attacks towards the duo.

Kaze silently got into a battle position as he was determined to protect Amai. Meanwhile the fox boy was currently thinking of ways to get out of this situation.

Kaze: Do you really think an ambush is going to stop me?!

Kaze jumped towards the attacks as Amai called out to him.

Amai: Kaze! Wait a second-!

Kaze suddenly flashed a bright yellow that blinded the entire area. The only thing that could be heard was the dismantling of the badniks as they were destroyed by yellow flashes.

The moment everything died down. Kaze was standing there as he breathed and open and closed his hands.

Kaze then thought to himself.

Kaze: 'H-How did I do that? Was it due to collecting all the emeralds?'

He then looked up and noticed the Doctor in his Eggmobile.

He then smirked.

Kaze: Come on Amai. Let's get him.

Amai nodded his head as they landed on an upper platform and made their way towards the Doctor and appeared right in front of Robotnik.

Dr. Robotnik: You again...!

Kaze: Surprise Robotnik. Happy to see us?

Dr.Robotnik: Like hell I would be happy to see you, you brat!

Robotnik evilly smiled as he pressed a button as seven ball pods appeared and surrounded the egg mobile.

Kaze was going to attack as he jumped towards the machine but was bitch slapped by one of the pods as he was launched a good distance away.

Amai: Kaze!

Kaze: I'm fine. That bitch slap nearly killed me though.

Amai looked at the Doctor in slight anger as he jumped towards the Egg Mobile as he noticed the orbs began orbiting around the middle, he then attacked the Eggmobile  as one of the pods separated itself from the main one as it shape-shifted into the form of Robotnik.

Amai: ?!?

Kaze attacked the orb as it popped and quickly attacked the Eggmobile as more of the pods turned into multiple Robotniks.

Kaze and Amai popped more of the pods as Robotnik became more angry then he already was as he shot two lasers towards Kaze. But he dodged it like a pro and landed a very strong spin attack on the Egg mobile as it blew up and the Doctor fled from the Zone.

Kaze: Now that's that.

Amai: Did we finally do it?

Kaze: Yeah I think we did-!

The ground started rumbling...no...the entire island was rumbling.

Kaze: W-What the hell is going on?

Amai: I-I don't know...

They both then heard Robotnik's voice.

Robotnik: HAHAHAHAHA!!!! YOU TWO REALLY THOUGHT YOU COULD STOP ME?! THE ULTIMATE WEAPON IS FINALLY COMPLETE, AND NOW...WATCH AS I DESTROY THAT DISGUSTING RACE...WATCH AS I DESTROY THE INKLING AND THE OCTOLINGS!!!

The duo looked up to see the Death Egg ascending more and more into the sky as it shined a bit.

Meanwhile Amy, who was currently on South Island saw the Death Egg in the distance as she felt fear for her race and fear for her beloved Kaze. She placed her hands together as she closed her eyes and hoped for Kaze to stop the Doctor and save the day like he has done previously.

Amy: Kaze...please be safe...

While that was going on, a boy in red hair standing in front of a shrine with a giant green emerald on a floating island looked up as well as he noticed the floating orb in the sky.

???:Hm? What the hell is that?

The boy stated as he quickly grew angered.

And in a town full of beings that looked similar to Amy. They noticed the Death Egg and began panicking. Some of them began crying out of fear while others began to record the event.

Inkling#1: W-What is that thing?

Inkling#2: I don't know!!!

Inkling#3: I don't want to die! I'm too young!

An old inkling in the background also watched as two girls stood behind him.

???: What is that thing Gramps?

???: Holy carp! That thing looks scary!

The old inkling slowly replied.

???: I don't know Marie...Callie...I honestly don't know...

Back in Metropolis, Kaze and Amai looked up paralyzed in shock. Kaze's fist shook in anger.

Kaze: Like hell, I'm just going to sit around and watch! If we're going to the Death Egg, we're going to need to fly! Come on Amai, I have just the thing that will help us!

Kaze immediately blitzed off towards the distance as Amai followed as he flew behind him.

Amai: Where are we going Kaze?

Kaze: Back to Emerald Hill!

He then looked at Amai while running.

Kaze: We're going to end this once and for all!

The endgame was nearing as the Death Egg was launching, with the entire world to witness, Kaze and Amai rush back to Emerald Hill as they're on borrowed time...to stop the Death Egg for good.

Hey there! It's been awhile. We're finally nearing the end of the Sonic 2 arc. And I really can't wait to write out the Sonic 3 and Knuckles arc. And after that, we can finally get onto the Splatoon content. I'm honestly excited, and I want to thank you guys for reading the story and I'm glad you all are enjoying it.
