Tadayoshi was shopping at a mall, finding some Christmas gifts

Tadayoshi: would Marie like this or that...

Terrance: Tadayoshi?

He turns around to see Terrance, who was also shopping

Tadayoshi: never thought I would see you hear

Terrance: I could say the same thing, I'm guessing you're doing Christmas shopping

Tadayoshi: yep

Terrance: quiet surprising

Tadayoshi: why is that?

Terrance: Well, you never like celebrating anything, what makes you want to celebrate this holiday

Tadayoshi: you have an idea of how annoying when the girls are complaining that I'm don't celebrate anything

He looks at the gift on his left hand

Tadayoshi: thanks

They soon bought the gifts they need, as they walk out of the store and stop at a place to eat

Tadayoshi was going through his phone, while Terrance was eating

Terrance: hey...

Tadayoshi: hmm

Terrance: remember when I told you, that Amelia and I aren't blood-related

Tadayoshi: mhm

Terrance: well... I think it's time for you to know the truth about it

Tadayoshi looks up at him

Tadayoshi: I'm listening, what really happened?

Suddenly the bell rings

Teacher: oh shoot, well class dismissed

Everyone gets up and leaves to their after school clubs while Terrance gets his stuff and leaves

Terrance is 5 years old, and he is almost acting like a mature teen

He arrives back at his place, he wasn't poor or rich, but he lived in a modern life

Terrance: Mom! I'm home!

He walks around where he finds his mother praying to his father shrine

He sets down his stuff as he sits next to her and prays

Mother: your father was a great warrior during the war

Terrance: I know... but I miss him...

He then notices a tear crawling down her face, his mother was blind, her eyes were pale so he had to take care of her most of the time, which is why he never had time to make friends or anyone else

Mother: I just.... wish I could see what your father was like...

She put her hands over her face, crying as Terrance rubs her back

Terrance: dad was a great dad I ever had... he always did love you

Mother: hehe... that your father

Terrance helps his mother up and brings her to the couch

Terrance: do you want some music mom

Mother: yes, please

He turns on the music as he goes to the kitchen to make dinner

Terrance open up a cookbook as she starts making some miso soup and some fried fish

He soon finishes making dinner, as he brings it to his mother and begins feeding her

Terrance: what made you fall in love with dad

His mother smiled

Mother: I was walking my way home when I was on my own, with my stick, which I accidentally bumped into your father, I didn't know what he looked like, but he was willing to help me take me home, but then he asked me if he can come over sometime to help me, I agreed.

Terrance: but how did you know he was like some rapist

Mother: hehe, I know who is lying or not, if he was I could've scream and the neighbors would've heard me

Terrance: oh

Mother: but he helped me with everything I need to do, but we begin to realize something, I may not know what your father looked like, but I was in love with him... and so was he. We could go anywhere a lot for our date, so we always slow dance in the living room... and that's when you came...

Terrance smiles as he wipes off his tears

Mother: but... I'm sorry we couldn't give you a sister

Terrance: it's fine... I have you

His mother begins tearing again as he hugs her

Suddenly a knock was heard on the door

Mother: oh! Can you answer that?

Terrance: yes mother

Terrance opens the door, which happens to be their neighbor

Neighbor: Hey Terrance, is your mother here

Terrance: yeah in the living room

Terrance lead them to the living room

Their neighbors were a good friend to their father during the Great Turf War

Neighbor: Hey, how you feeling

Mother: I'm fine... it's our father Memorial Day

Neighbor: yeah we heard, we came to say hi to him, but also we have some new

Mother: what's that

The neighbor then showed them a young inkling girl with them

Terrance: it's a child like me but a girl mom

Mother: oh she must be wonderful

Neighbor: oh she is

Terrance: what's her name?

Neighbor: her name is Amelia...

This story is interrupted by a chibi Terrance holding an infant Amelia around his arms, while his neighbor thought it was adorable

It has been 3 years, Terrance and amelia are both now 8 and was walking and talking, but Amelia doesn't go to school, since she is home-schooled but Terrance was in the classroom during free period, looking out the window

Suddenly they hear a gunshot far away

Everyone goes quiet... nothing

They went back chatting, then another shot was heard... they notice a massive explosion happening

Everyone runs out to see, then another which almost hits the school

The teacher barges in

Teacher: EVACUATE THE SCHOOL! WE'RE BEING ATTAC-

Another explosion then happens above the building

Terrance: mom...

Terrance quickly starts making his way past through the crowd, trying to make it out of the building

People were panicking as they were pushing, punching their way through to make it out of the exit

Terrance makes it out of the school, as then he felt the ground shaking as notice the entire school collapsing

Terrance: shit!

Terrance begins running through his hometown, see people dying, killed, everything was burning, explosions were happening everywhere

Suddenly an explosion hits near Terrance, sending him flying and hit the ground, his ears were ringing as he can barely see, as people we getting killed by guys with knives

He gains consciousness again and gets up to start running home, but as soon he arrives there, his house was on fire and was about to collapse

He quickly runs it to finds his mother, but he finds her stuck on a piece of wood on top of her

Terrance: Mom!

Mother: honey? Is that you?

Terrance: yes it's me! Just hold on, I'll get you out

He begins trying to lift the wood with all his might, but another burning wood almost hits him, but he dodges

Terrance: hold on mother!

Mother: stop...

Terrance: what

Mother: you have to go without me...

Terrance: no... I can't leave you! We lost dad, I can't lose you too!

Mother: I'm sorry... but my time has come... there is something under the stair your father wanted to give you... take it and go... I love you, honey... to the bottom of my heart... now go...

Terrance begins crying as he turns a run as he opens the door that is underneath the stairs and grabs something long and wrapped up, he takes it and runs out, and the whole place collapse

He begins letting tear crawl down his face

Then he hears another crying

He quickly walks over to his neighbors place with is collapsed and burning, but he notices Amelia crying out mommy and daddy in front of her mother and father, burnt up

He approaches her

Terrance: hey...

She turns at him, as she had tearing filling her eye

Amelia: mommy.... daddy...

Terrance: I know... I know...

He hugs her and they begin crying, let out all their tears

He then hears laughter up ahead, he turns to see an inkling on top of a pile of bodies, he was wearing a gas mask, a leather coat, and had purple tentacles, laughing like a maniac

Terrance: ... dang it! Listen to me Amelia we have to go!

Amelia: but... I don't want to leave mommy and daddy... I don't want to be alone!

Terrance: it's ok, I will be your brother ok! I will take care of you!

Amelia: really...

Terrance: yes I swear!

Amelia looks at her parents' bodies and turns at him

Amelia: ok...

Terrance picks her up and begins running, running without looking back, making his way out of his hometown, which was all burning

Terrance has been walking while carrying Amelia for days... they haven't eaten or drink anything

Amelia: I'm hungry brother...

Terrance: I know... but we will... find some help soon... I'm... sure...

He then collapses as he starts seeing some feet, but doesn't hear their voice as he shuts their eyes

He then wakes up to find himself on a bed in a tent

Terrance: what...

He gets up to find himself, in some new clothes As he walks out of the tent, he sees people training and his sister playing with some younger inklings

???: you're finally awake

Terrance turns at the stranger

???: my name is Felicia

Terrance: where am I

Felica: you're at our base, the revolutionary army

Terrance: what...

Felica: we fight against a group called darklings, which we believe attacked your hometown

Terrance: how do you know...

Felica: did you see an inkling that was wearing a mask and has purple tentacles?

Terrance then remember the guy laughing at his hometown

Terrance: yes...

Felica: we found your hometown burnt, but we believe it was him

Terrance: it's gone isn't it...

Felica: yes... I'm sorry

Terrance: ... what are you gonna do to me and my sister

Felica: I have a request, join me so you can get stronger, or leaves and hope you guys don't die

Terrance: ...

He begins to thought about  how he couldn't save his mother, his sisters family, and everyone else he knows in that hometown

Terrance: I want... to stay... I want to be stronger...

Felica: very well, your mind as well go with other people and train with them

Terrance: yes sir

For the next few years, Terrance begins training every day, while Amelia who later got older begins trading with them

5 years later

Terrance: what do you mean you're leaving

Amelia: I want to live my own life now... I want to go live in Inkopolis plaza

Terrance: but... I have to protect you-

Amelia: brother... you protected me when I was young... its time for you to take a break now ok

Terrance thought for a moment

Terrance: ok...

Amelia hugs him as he hugs her back

Amelia: I will miss you brother

Terrance: I will miss you too...

He watches Amelia aboard the train and waves bye as it begins to leaves...

Terrance was back at the base as he realized that he never opened the gift that father gave him

He opens it to find a katana

He looks at the blade and then closes it

Terrance: I will get stronger... for you... mom... dad... Amelia...

Present-day:

Tadayoshi: I'm... sorry to hear that

Terrance: it's fine...

Tadayoshi: have you touch that blade

Terrance: no... I haven't...

Tadayoshi: I see...

Terrance: well we should head back, the girl is probably waiting for you

Tadayoshi: yeah yeah

They get up as they begin leaving out the mall

Terrance: "mother... I'm no longer alone now... I hope you can see my father now..."
