First, I draw the simple shapeshifted using the reference I like.

Next, I make changes to the sketched shapes as I go along with making the body using more shapes

Then I make the clothing, hair, expression, and whatever else necessary as a rough sketch

Color in Shadow, I usually end up being messy to be sure I color him in fully. I use multiple layers.

Clean up the coloring

Do the same thing for Stary (I make the background darker so I an see the lighter color of her fur)

Background and clipping my work

Finalize. Add your signature, any other text, and vola, Stary and Shadow picture complete.
