Epilogue
(P.S. This chapter is slightly different than the others. There are two parts, and each one is in a different POV. The first part is in Amos' POV and the second part is in White's POV. So sorry for the late update ;3)
Victory Road, Unova...
"MY EGG, CATCH MY EGG!" shrieked Liliana as the Growlite egg bounced down the cliff.
"Crazy woman, get it yourself!" shot back Hydreigon, but the three headed dragon dove down to get it.
Amos almost fell over the edge himself as Liliana pushed him aside, fretting over her precious egg. Pepper was yowling in pain behind him, for the Arcanine had pretty much stomped on his tiny tail. Packs and Oliver weren't even worried about if the egg would become a scrambled egg or not. The two of them were snickering quietly, watching the mayhem unfold.
"Esh, not even born yet and this kid already owes me a life debt," Hydreigon growled as he flew out of the ravine, holding the egg with his tail.
Liliana snarled as Amos took the egg from Hydreigon. The night White almost died, Archy and Liliana had confessed their feelings for one another. But a few days after White woke up from her coma, N had brought it to Amos' attention that Liliana had laid a Growlite egg. He had caught her trying to hide the egg in the Hidden Grotto on Route 21.
Telling White about the egg was probably the hardest yet most hilarious part. When Amos had went to tell White about the egg, Archy had walked into the room the minute after he had informed her about the Arcanines' relationship and the egg. White had thrown a water bottle at Archy's head, and the bottle had exploded and drenched the male Arcanine in water.
"Please don't drop it again!" Liliana suddenly snapped at Amos, giving him a look that clearly said 'if my baby goes down the ravine again you're going after it'.
"What?!" yelped Amos angrily.
"Yeah!" growled the female Arcanine
"That isn't fair!" protested Packs, leaping in front of Liliana. "The only reason why we're carrying it is because you can't walk and carry that dumb egg at the same time!"
Liliana stiffened and gave the Watchog the death glare. Not wanting to lose two of his pokemon so soon, Amos put the egg in his bag and returned Liliana, Hydreigon, and Packs to their pokeballs. Pepper, who was licking his tail ferociously, looked up at the sudden silence.
"Have you ever met such a grump?" demanded Oliver, shaking his head.
"Yeah, I have," Amos growled, looking back at the ravine.
Victory Road was full of nature. The first Victory Road crashed over a year ago, so they had to make a new one. There were caves, waterfalls, forests, ravines, rivers, and as rumor has it, the ruins of N's Castle. Amos had not asked N about the castle since he was trying to forget that he had been Team Plasma's king.
"How much longer till we reach the top?" Pepper whined, jumping on his trainer's head.
"No idea," replied Amos, beginning to edge away from the cliff and toward the mountain path. "It might take a few hours still."
He heard the baby Eevee groan in annoyance. Oliver scowled at Pepper and began to walk down the rocky path that lead into the mountain.
For one minute, Amos remembered the tiny little Oshawott that he had chosen for his journey. The time when he and his cousins dreamed of being famous pokemon trainers. The time when he first met White.
Amos shook his head and ran after the Samurott. He had to stop thinking about her. White was gone now. She had made a full recover and her name cleared, so she moved to Kanto the day before. She was going to bury Amycus in Lavender Town, the same cemetery where her grandparents, mother, and sister were buried. She was going to start a new life there, and Amos would probably never see her again.
"Amos?"
He looked up and noticed that Oliver was gone. He was beginning to panic until he saw the pokemon sticking his head out of a clump of trees.
"Look what I found!" piped up the Samurott excitedly, his head disappearing into the leaves again.
"Oliver, we can't get sidetracked!" Amos yelled after him.
"Come 'ere, come 'ere, come 'ere!" Oliver's voice chanted back.
Amos sighed and pushed through the bushes Oliver had gone through. He heard Pepper yelping and wincing as tree branches slapped at the little Eevee's face.
Oliver had found a cave entrance, but unlike the other caves, the opening was blocked by a giant web. Amos could almost see electricity pulsing through it. He had only seen a web like this once before, and that was at Chargestone Cave.
"Look familiar?" asked Oliver with a smirk, who was standing in front of the web.
"That's...that's a Galvantula web, right?" Amos replied stretching out a hand and touching the sticky thread. He yelped as the electricity shocked his hand the instant his hand made contact with it.
"More specifically, I think this is one of Jo Jo's webs, and I wouldn't touch that." The Samurott then added warningly.
"You mean that nutter of a Galvantula that Sky Blue has?" asked Amos, withdrawing his hand and observing the mark on his hand.
"Yes, that nutter of a Joltik Sky Blue has," Oliver answered with a snort.
"What's a nutter?" piped up Pepper, who was removing twigs from his fur.
"You'll understand when you're older," Amos told him absent mindedly. "Do you think Sky Blue is in there?"
"Only one way to find out." said Oliver, unsheathing his dagger like scalchop.
Before the pokemon could even raise the scalchop, there was a loud crack and pink light flashed everywhere. Amos yelped and fell backwards as the web detached itself from the cave opening. The web landed on a familiar Gallade and Alakazam.
"I SWEAR TO ARCEUS I WILL RIP THAT STUPID GALVANTULA LIMB FROM LIMB!" Shane bellowed at the top of his lungs, trying to cut free from the web.
"Not unless I kill her first!" shouted Sky Blue's voice.
Alan and Shane were trying to free themselves from the electric web. Sky Blue had fallen off Shane's shoulder and was now pushing himself off the ground. Amos noticed that he looked more beat up than he did before he disappeared. He was paler, and he had cuts on his face, but his broken ankle appeared to have healed.
"Well it is a small world, isn't it?" Sky yelled with a hint of sarcasm, noticing that Amos was present.
"What are you doing here?!" Amos spat furiously, struggling to his feet.
"Hiding," the older trainer answered irritability, tugging pieces of the cut up web off his pokemon.
"In a cave?"
"Not just any cave. Take a look."
Amos gave Sky a suspicious look. Oliver, who had fallen over onto his back and was getting back onto his paws, shot him a warning look. It was hard to tell if Sky was playing a prank or not.
He approached the cave and looked inside it. It was pitch black and he couldn't make out anything.
"It looks normal, except that it's dark," Amos told Sky.
"Well you can't see it from there, but that my good sir, is the cave that hides N's Castle."
Amos frowned at him in disbelief.
"The castle is in there?" demanded Oliver, eyeing the cave with distrust.
"Yep," answered Alan. "Don't ask how the castle got in there in two years. It's a complete mystery."
"But that place is haunted!" hissed Shane, shivering slightly.
"Haunted?" Amos repeated, glancing at Sky Blue.
"We were just in there, you know, hiding out until everything passes by." Sky growled. "But we heard screaming and something being smashed to pieces. It was coming from the throne room."
"It sounded a lot like N, actually," the Gallade then said thoughtfully. "It makes since. The castle is his after all."
"Ne-Ne has a castle?" squeaked Pepper curiously.
"Yeah, Ne-Ne has a castle that's in the same stat as him," Oliver snarled at the baby Eevee. "I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be just as crazy as one-eye here."
Amos smirked a little as he saw Sky facepalm. Shane and Alan snickered but stopped quickly.
"How's White?" Sky asked after a minute. Amos remembered that Sky Blue hadn't seen or heard about White since going on the run.
"White moved to Kanto," Amos told him with difficulty. "She was going to bury Amycus there. She made a full recovery and her name is cleared."
Sky looked extremely disappointed but pretended to get over it.
"Well, I guess it's too late to stop her," he muttered. "Sorry I couldn't visit her at all."
"She understood," Amos told him. "So, you think N is in there?"
"Positive." answered Sky, nodding.
Amos frowned at the cave entrance again. If N was trying to forget about his past with Team Plasma, why would he come back to the place where he was raised by Ghetsis?
"Do you think he's alright?" He asked intently.
"Dunno, but I don't blame him for being upset." said Sky. "He almost lost his little sister and he's still under a lot of stress."
"I wanna see Ne-Ne!" squealed Pepper, bouncing around Oliver. "Can we see him? Pweeeeeeeeeease?"
He heard Sky, Alan, and Shane snicker as the Eevee looked up at him with large brown eyes.
"Alright, alright, we can see him," Amos sighed.
Pepper squealed and without another word, he pelted into the cave and was engulfed by the darkness.
"Pepper!" He yelled exasperatedly, running into the cave after the baby Eevee.
"Well see you around then!" He heard Sky Blue call after him as Oliver dart after them. "Watch out on the stairs!"
Amos would've yelled back, but he saw what he couldn't see at the entrance.
A giant marble castle was sitting in the depths of a ravine in the cave. The castle was surprisingly old looking for a building that was only underground for two years. The walls were brownish tan and were filled with cracks. Moss and grime caked the castle walls and windows, and a big gaping hole was in the ceiling. Despite all of that, the castle was very impressive. Amos could see why White was jealous of N if this was the place where he grew up.
"Hey, kid!" Oliver suddenly barked, his gaze glued on something at the edge of the cliff.
Pepper was skipping across a bridge like staircase that led from the top of the ravine to the entrance of the castle. It went all the way across the ravine, that was probably about a hundred feet deep.
"Come back!" Amos burst out, pelting toward the staircase with Oliver at his heels.
But Pepper was already inside the castle by the time he reached the staircase. The staircase looked unsafe, but it was the only way to get across.
Don't look down, don't look down, don't look down! Amos kept saying inside his head as he walked slowly across the staircase. Oliver yelped behind him as he followed his trainer.
Relief spread through him as he felt the ground again. Amos looked up at the broken down doors of the castle entrance. The halls within were dim and empty. But there was shouting and a noise of what sounded like breaking boulders.
"Hopefully this place isn't going to turn into the next Lavender Town," Oliver whimpered, stumbling off the bridge like staircase and staring at the halls within the ruins.
"What do you know about Lavender Town?" asked Amos.
"That it's haunted and people die there."
"People die everywhere, Oliver. Even in Lavender Town."
"I don't mean like that!" the Samurott snapped. "I mean that people die there from unknown causes. Kids go missing in that tower there, and the air seems to whisper to children and say that they should kill-"
"Shut up!" Amos yelped. "Now I'm too freaked out to go inside!"
"So we can go back?" Oliver asked hopefully.
"No!"
With that, Amos grabbed Oliver's front paw and dragged him into the castle. Even through the grime and moss, he could tell that the castle had once been a magnificent building. But columns were torn down and laid on the black glass floor. A small indoor river was dried up and was now filled with rubble.
He then saw a room that caught his eye. The door was opened a crack, but he could still see a large collection of toys and games inside. He released Oliver's paw and pushed the door open.
It was quite obvious that this had been N's room and that he had been spoiled. The room looked like it had belonged to a ten year old. The walls were painted blue and the rest of the room looked almost like a small basketball court. Amos was surprised that someone as old as N had to stay in this room for most of his life.
He bent down and picked up a toy block off the ground. He could see teeth marks along the edges.
"I bet Zoroark had fun with those," snorted Oliver, kicking a block and sending it under the bed that was in the corner of the room.
"This is pretty expensive stuff," Amos commented, throwing aside the block and observing a basketball. It looked like it was barely used.
"Wonder why he didn't use any of this stuff?" Oliver asked. "Most kids would love to have these."
"Money can't buy everything."
The Samurott didn't reply. Amos straightened up and turned back toward the doorway. The smashing noise had grown louder.
"Let's just get Pepper and leave," the Samurott muttered, pushing past him and moving into the hall.
It took fifteen minutes to find their way to the second floor of the castle. The castle was dark, but Amos didn't want to let Liliana out while she was being an overprotective, cranky mother. Oliver wasn't much help either. He kept making Amos go into the rooms first since none of them knew what else could be hiding in the castle.
"How could that little squirt find his way around here if this is he's first time here?" Oliver growled as they reached the second floor.
"Probably used his sense of smell," answered Amos, looking around at the second floor.
"Yeah, maybe you're- YEOW!"
Amos saw Oliver leap a foot in the air ahead of him. The Samurott yowled in terror and darted behind him.
"What's wrong?" He demanded, expecting ghosts or werewolves.
Oliver whimpered and gestured to the floor a few feet away. Amos approached the place his pokemon was pointing at and yelped in horror.
Dark crimson blood was stained on the marble floor. It was hard, which meant it had probably been there for awhile. Maybe two years to be exact.
This was Sky Blue's blood.
This was where he lost his eye.
"I feel sick!" moaned Oliver, gagging slightly.
"L-Let's hurry!" Amos gasped, trying his best to avoid the blood stained floor.
The noises were getting louder with every step. The throne room doors were wide open. Amos looked inside and saw a storm of dust. He could see a human figure through the marble and dust.
Amos edged into the throne room and squinted through the dirty air. The outline of a Rapidash was smashing the throne at the end of the room. The cloaked figure was watching the Rapidash crush the throne.
"NE-NE!" a small voice cried, something small and furry zooming past Amos toward the figure.
Rapi froze and N turned his head to see Pepper. The Eevee squealed and toppled into his leg. Pepper hugged his leg and looked up into N's face.
"Where have you been Ne-Ne?!" Pepper demanded. "You promised to visit us!"
"Yeah, a month and a half is like a quarter of a century in his world," Amos heard Oliver mutter under his breath.
N stared at Pepper with a blank expression. It was like he didn't even remember the baby Eevee. But he then bent down and petted his head.
"Hi, buddy," Amos heard him whisper to Pepper. "I've missed you too."
Pepper purred and rubbed up against N's leg. N looked up and began to stare at him with that lifeless stare.
"What are you doing here?" N demanded after a minute, his voice suddenly turning cold and harsh.
Amos stepped back a little before saying, "Sky Blue heard you in here, so I came to check on you."
N scowled as Rapi trotted up to his side. He looked irritated and exhausted. Amos wondered if he was even awake or not.
"What are you doing?" He asked N, looking toward the remains of the throne.
N didn't answer. Amos was about to repeat what he said, but then N said, "Trying to get rid of my past."
"What?"
"I want to wreak this stupid throne! I want to start over!"
N's voice rose higher with every word he spoke. He turned away from the younger trainer and kicked at the floor.
"I wish I never left her!" N spat, making Rapi flinch. "I wish my mom and dad never left! I wish I never accepted to be a Harmonia! I wish that stupid crown never touched my head! I wish none of this happened, then maybe none of them would be gone!"
Amos didn't know what to say or do. N seemed to have lost his mind. Did it seriously take that short of a time for him to become crazy?
N kicked at a piece of rubble and cursed himself loudly. Rapi watched him pitifully while Pepper shook with fear. N kicked the rubble again before collapsing onto it, sobbing into his hands.
Amos approached N cautiously and put his hand on his shoulder. N flinched slightly but didn't move away. This was a good sign.
"I'm sorry you and White had to go through this," Amos croaked. "But no one can change the past. What you two went through made you stronger, even though there were some.....unnecessary events."
"You don't understand!" N snapped, standing up and whipping around to face him. "My sister lost so much because of what I've done! She was homeless while I had a castle to live in! She had nothing while I was spoiled! Now I let her lose her arm! Do you expect me to live with that?!"
"You don't have to live with that!"
Amos was starting to feel a little uneasy. N was panting like crazy now. He was sweating and his body was shaking violently.
"Natural," Rapi suddenly snapped, stepping toward him. "Whitney forgave you. You're her older brother. She'll forgive you more easily than she will anyone else."
The Rapidash glanced at Amos for his assistance. She looked much older and exhausted.
"N," Amos started, moving a little closer to N. "White forgave you. Why can't you forgive yourself?"
N didn't say anything. He seemed to calm down slightly, but was still acting strangely.
"I can't forgive myself," N finally whimpered. "I just can't..."
"Try, just try!" Amos begged. "I know you can! Please try!"
N sighed and shook his head.
"Please, Natural." Rapi whispered, nudging his arm with her muzzle.
Rapi's touched seemed to make N relax a little. He put his hand on her head and stared at her. Amos remembered that Rapi had been like N and White's mother. She had taken them in and made them her own children.
N then turned around and looked Amos full in the face. Amos thought that he was going to punch him in the mouth, but he was surprised.
"Alright, I'll forgive myself on one condition." N told him.
"What's that?"
"I want you to be Zekrom's new trainer."
"Wait, what?!"
Amos searched N's face for any sign that he was joking. It was clear that he wasn't. Amos glanced over his shoulder to look at Oliver. The Samurott gave him a 'don't ruin the deal so fast' look.
"I-I don't understand," he stuttered after a moment. "Why do you want to give me Zekrom?"
N didn't answer right away. He turned back away and began walking toward the crumbled throne. He stopped when he was three feet away from it. He seemed to be seeing things that no one else could see.
"Two years ago, I stood here as king of Team Plasma, proud of how far I had gotten," N started, continuing to stare at the throne. "The only thing I wasn't proud about was the fact that my little sister was ashamed of me. She had said to my face before Team Plasma's downfall that I wasn't her brother, that I wasn't the kind, gentle little boy that she once knew. That one meeting stuck out to me during the battle with the two trainers that had been attacking Team Plasma."
N glanced around the large room before facing the throne again.
"The battle happened in this very chamber," he continued. "Reshiram and Zekrom fought against each other, and Zekrom lost. I was shocked. I thought for sure that I would win. But then everything that White had said to me came back. I looked back at what I did, and I then felt ashamed. I had ruined many people and pokemon's lives, including my sister's. I wanted to fix everything. It then led to me stepping down as king and disowned by my foster father. Even my sister wouldn't accept me back."
Amos didn't say anything. He was reminded of himself. His father had turned against him when his little brother died from a brain tumor. He had gone drunk, and he had almost killed him. Thankfully, his mother had come home just as his father tried to kill him. His father had been in the Unova Prison ever since.
"It's nothing personal," N finally said, not turning around. "But Zekrom just reminds me of that day..."
Pepper seemed to sense the shame and sadness in N's voice, because the little Eevee padded over to N and hugged his leg again. Amos noticed that Tiny's pups seemed to look up to N as a father.
"Ok," Amos finally agreed. "I'll take care of Zekrom."
He saw N's head turn slightly, and he noticed that N was smiling a little. N then kicked the remains of the throne, and the rubble crashed into the dried up pools on each side of where the throne once was. Amos took this action as a sign that N had finally forgiven himself.
"Thank you, Amos," he heard N say over the tumbling of rubble. "I think I might be able to face life again, now."
"Well I'm glad," Amos replied, relieved that N didn't punch him.
He stiffened however as N walked past him, afraid that he might have thought too soon. But he didn't touch him, he acted as if Amos wasn't even there.
"Zekrom will be at the Dragonspiral Tower, north of Icirrus City," N told him as he reached the large door, Rapi trotting after him. "I would like to explain to him about the situation before releasing him. And by the way,"
N suddenly turned around, and he had a big smirk on his face.
"I've heard you've been getting a little close with my sister." He said sneeringly. "If I find out that you hurt her in the slightest, I'll make sure it's the last thing you do."
Amos shivered as N left the chamber with Rapi walking beside him. He heard Oliver give a low whistle as their footsteps grew faint.
"You're lucky you aren't Sky Blue," Oliver hissed to him. "He probably would've broke your neck."
"No kidding," wheezed Amos, relief spreading through him. "Come on, we need to get out of here."
"Will we ever see Ne-Ne again?" asked Pepper as they left the chamber.
"I wouldn't be surprised," Amos answered.
"I hope so," the Eevee continued. "I like Ne-Ne."
"I don't." growled Oliver. "Has a way of making people feel like today is their last day alive."
"Well...I guess that's true." Amos admitted, avoiding the spot on the floor where Sky Blue's blood was.
"But he had a point, you were, well, you are getting a bit friendly with White." The Samurott said hesitantly. "Do...do you...love her?"
Amos stopped in his tracks. He felt his face get warm as he began to blush. He was aware that Oliver and Pepper were both watching him.
"I..." He started, wiping sweat off his brow. "I do like her, but I don't love her..."
Oliver snorted. "Mhmm, sure,"
Pepper giggled as Amos glared at Oliver.
"Maybe...maybe I love her a little bit..."
"Sure..."
"I do love her then."
"Obsessed fits perfectly with this kind of love," cooed the Samurott.
Amos blushed even harder and tried ignoring him.
"Come on," he told his two pokemon, changing the subject. "We better get going. Are you two with me or no?"
Oliver smiled and bowed his head. "Till the very end."
"I'm still coming!" Pepper squeaked, wagging his tail.
Amos grinned as he began to climb down the stairs to the first floor, feeling Archy and Liliana's egg rattling in his bag.
*~*~*
Lavender Town, Kanto...
"White, White really, maybe I should be the one digging the grave!"
"Mira, you got two broken legs, a rib, and a gunshot wound! I'll do it!"
"But White, your arm-"
White heard Mira sigh as she smashed the spade into the wet soggy ground. She ignored her and continued to dig into the ground.
They were in the Lavender Town cemetery, the cemetery where humans were buried. Pokemon were usually buried in the Pokemon Tower, but White wanted to bury him near her family. The cemetery was surrounded by a small forest, so you had to get directions to find it. All the people White had asked for directions had stared at her in shock and disbelief.
"Be careful!" Mira whimpered as White actually slammed the spade into the ground.
"I'm fine, Mira!" White growled through gritted teeth. Her real arm throbbed painfully and her mechanical one seemed to vibrate slightly. She had gotten use to having a fake arm attached to her stump that she could barely feel.
Mira, who was hugging her knees and looking around at the forest, was kneeling next to the grave of White's grandparents. She had taken a little longer to recover than White, but was able to leave the hospital the same day White left for Kanto. Mira had come along to collect gym badges from both Johto and Kanto. Her goal was to reach the Pokemon League so she could see her own older brother. She was allowed to walk, but she was unable to climb or run, so she had to have someone support her.
"I found a good rock!" called Archy's voice, making both White and Mira jump.
The male Arcanine was pushing a large rock over to them. He pushed it over to White and plopped down next to Hannah and Mintha's grave, which was right next to the place where Amycus was going to be buried.
"Thanks, Archy," said White gratefully, wiping sweat off her forehead. She had only dug up a few inches of dirt.
"Here," the Arcanine suddenly barked, pushing White out of the hole and climbing into the hole himself. "Let me do this. Tiny and Raichu should be back any minute with the flowers. I'm sure Amycus would be touched that you'd work your arm off to dig his grave, but you should really rest."
White noticed defeat and sighed. Archy had gotten a little overprotective since her near fatal accident. She was slightly annoyed by this, but she knew he was only trying to help.
She sat next to Mira and faced her grandparents' graves. Words were etched into a granite tombstone .
Gregory and Elizabeth Copperfield
May 20, 1933 to October 30, 2011
&
February 14, 1934 to July 25, 1996
"Those who pass on never truly leave you, but move inside of you."
"I wish I could've met your family," Mira suddenly told her, watching White sadly. "They sound like they were nice folks."
"They were," said White, not taking her eyes of the stone. "My grandmother died when N was born, so I never met her. But my grandfather was always there for me. He gave me attention when no one else bothered to give me any."
She stopped abruptly. She remembered when she heard about the murder of Gregory Copperfield. She remembered feeling dumbfounded and shocked. White remembered crying for hours at a time, screaming for her grandfather to come back.
Thankfully, Mira stood up and began to stroll toward the forest.
"I'll come back later," Mira told her. "No offense, but this place gives me the creeps."
"Well this is Lavender Town, after all." White hissed with a sneer. She saw Mira smile slightly as she left the cemetery.
When she was sure Mira was gone, White straightened up and looked behind the grave. She grabbed her guitar case and set it next to her. White and N were left a bit of money from their grandfather's will, so they both had enough to keep them going. White had used a bit of the money to buy a new guitar. It wasn't like her old one, and she wasn't use to playing it with her mechanical arm.
"Ok, request time," White told Archy as she set up her guitar. "What would you like to hear?"
She heard Archy snort loudly as he poked his head out of the hole. He knew that White wasn't supposed to play the guitar until she was use to her mechanical arm, but he didn't bring up the subject.
"Do that sad one and that cheerful one I like," Archy requested.
White frowned slightly. She knew he only liked the two songs because they both reminded him of herself. But she played her guitar and began to sing.
Little girl terrified
She'd leave her room if only bruises would heal
A home is no place to hide
Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray
She wonders why, does anyone ever hear her when she cries
Today she's turning sixteen
Everyone singing, but she can't seem to smile
They never get past arms length
How could they act like everything is alright?
She's pulling down her long sleeves
To cover all the memories that scars leave
She says, "maybe making me bleed
Will be the answer that could wash the slate clean"
This is the dark before the dawn
The storm before the peace
Don't be afraid 'cause seasons change and
God is watching over you
He hears you
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray
She'll be just fine, cause I know he hears her when she cries
Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides, and tries to pray
She'll be just fine, cause now he hears her when she cries
She'll be just fine, cause now he hears her when she cries
White began to get really irritated. Every time she played the wrong chord with her mechanical hand, Archy would howl playfully in protest. She knew he was only playing, but it was really annoying.
"Do you want me to play the next song, or are you going to keep doing that?" White growled quite calmly.
"I'm sorry, I'll stop." replied Archy apologetically.
She gave him a small glare before starting to sing again.
I remember the moment
I remember the pain
I was only a girl
But I grew up that day
Tears were falling
I know You saw me
Hiding there in my bedroom
So alone
I was doing my best
Trying to be strong
No one to turn to
That's when I met You
All this time
From the first tear cry
To today's sunrise
And every single moment between
You were there
You were always there
It was You and I
You've been walking with me all this time
Ever since that day
It's been clear to me
That no matter what comes
You will never leave
I know You're for me
And You're restoring
Every heartache and failure
Every broken dream
You're the God who sees
The God who rescued me
This is my story
This is my story
I hear these people asking me
How do I know what I believe?
Well I'm not the same me
And I saw the proof I need
I felt Love I felt Your grace
You stole my heart that day
You've been walkin with me all this time
All this time
From the first tear cry
To today's sunrise
And every single moment between
You were there
You were always there
It was You and I
You've been walking with me all this time
"Wonderful, couldn't have done it better myself!"
Tiny and Raichu had returned with some green and red flowers. Raichu averted her eyes from looking at White. The pokemon was still feeling really guilty for killing Amycus.
"That's the first time I've ever gotten a complement from you, Tiny." said White with a smirk.
"Well I'm just glad you're back," growled Tiny defensively. White saw Raichu roll her eyes, but she didn't say anything.
"The grave is about done," Archy informed them, cocking his head toward the rock he had placed at the edge of the hole.
"Where's the casket?" demanded Raichu, speaking for the first time.
White didn't speak. She then turned around and pulled Amycus' small casket out from behind her grandparents' grave. She removed the lid and looked down inside.
The Pignite's body lay inside it. Amycus' arms were crossed over the puncture wound in his chest. His eyes were closed and he was smiling slightly. He looked almost as if he were asleep. White and her pokemon stared at the motionless body.
"Should...should we let the other pokemon say their farewells?" Tiny asked after a small pause.
"Yeah," replied Archy. "Penelope would never forgive us if we started her precious Amy's funeral without her."
Raichu only grunted, but White nodded. She pulled the pokeballs off her belt and threw them into the air. Seth, Di-Di, Penelope, Purr, and Thundrus appeared out of the red and white light.
The pokemon blinked at her in confusion, but then they saw the casket. White apparently didn't need to explain. Penelope waddled over to the casket and looked down at the dead Pignite. Tears began to flow down the Dewott's cheeks.
"Would...would anyone want to start?" White whispered, her voice cracking.
"I would."
Purr stepped forward, her body shaking. When no one objected, the Liepard looked down at Amycus and sighed. White saw tears begin to leak out of her eyes.
"Amycus, it wasn't fair that you had to die like this," Purr croaked. "You had been disowned by so many trainers because of your disability. You were probably my only best friend that was a guy. At least you had a good home and trainer before you died, and I'm happy for you. I hope we'll all see you again."
Purr then stepped back and looked around at the other pokemon. No one approached the casket.
Then Penelope began to speak. "Oh Amy," she sniffed, her chin on the casket edge. "I-I'm so sorry I couldn't help you! You didn't deserve to die like this! You were my best friend, and you still are! I-I hope you're happier now though! I hope you have the life you deserve!"
White picked up the Dewott and set her in her lap. Penelope began to cry into the sleeve of her overcoat. No one spoke, but just stared at the body.
"Well if that's all-"
But White was cut off by a wail as a brown blur ran over to the casket. Raichu was sobbing uncontrollably over Amycus' body. The pokemon team exchanged startled looks but no one spoke.
"I'm so sorry, Amycus!" She wailed. "It's all my fault! It was an accident! I didn't remember you at all! I wouldn't have killed you if I had been in my right mind! I'M SORRY!"
None of them were able to detach Raichu from the casket. After about fifteen minutes, Thundrus finally pried the pokemon off the casket. White took the crying Raichu from Thundrus and hugged her. She could hear Raichu murmuring, "All my fault! It's all my fault!"
"It's ok," White said soothingly. "It's alright. I'm sure Amycus has forgiven you."
Raichu cried all throughout the little funeral. After Archy, Thundrus, Seth, and Di-Di gave Amycus their respects, White took one of the red flowers Tiny and Raichu had brought and placed it in his crossed hooves. She put the lid on the casket and set it in the bottom of the hole.
"Good bye, Amycus," she whispered as she looked upon Amycus' body one last time. "I love you, and I'll never forget you."
"Since Archy dug up the grave, I'll volunteer to cover up the grave." volunteered Seth, looking at White.
"If that's alright with everyone else." She told him softly.
"I will too," added Purr.
"So will I," chimed in Penelope.
White couldn't help but smile as the three pokemon began to put the dirt over the casket. Before this she wasn't sure if any of the pokemon had liked Amycus. But if they were willing to do all this for Amycus' final send off...
"WHITE?"
Di-Di had moved next to her, the green flowers that Tiny and Raichu had got were in her mouth.
"I THOUGHT YOU WOULD LIKE TO PUT THESE ON YOUR FAMILY'S GRAVES," squealed the Gorebyss, brandishing the flowers in White's face.
"Yeah," replied White, stifling a giggle. "Yeah, thanks, Di-Di."
She removed the flowers from Di-Di's mouth and stood up. Before she even stepped towards her grandparents graves, Tiny darted over to her and looked up at her with pleading eyes.
"Could...Could I put those on their grave?" The Espeon asked quietly.
White blinked but gave Tiny half of the flowers. The corners of the pokemon's moth twitched as she padded away toward the Copperfields' grave. She knew that Tiny wanted to pay her respects to her first trainer.
She then turned and approached her mother and sister's grave. The flowers in her hand seemed to wilt at the sight of the lonely tombstone.
Hannah Copperfield Gropius
April 24, 1978 to August 26, 2008
and her youngest daughter, Mintha Yin Gropius
Mintha didn't have a date of death or birth since she died before she was born. White wiped her eyes and set the green flowers down in front of the tombstone. She felt Di-Di's body press against her's as she sat in front of the tombstone.
Would I have been a good older sister? White wondered and she stared at Mintha's name.
She then pictured all the things she had to go through, except having to protect and raise her younger sister at the same time. She would've put Mintha in danger, and people would've judged her because of the actions of her older sister. White imagined trying to protect her from Ghetsis and Zinzolin. If Mintha had been alive, she would've been killed.
"You would've been a great sister," whispered Di-Di in her quiet voice. "I know you would."
"Sure," growled White. "She would have to live with the shame of having me for a sister."
"Don't be too harsh on yourself." said Thundrus' voice.
Thundrus floated over to her, looking at the grave with a somber expression. White felt his large hand on her shoulder.
"I only got to be her sister for one night," she whispered, running her metal fingers down the letters of Mintha's name. "It's just not fair that I won't be able to see her again until I die."
"That's not entirely true."
"How is it not?"
"Mintha's right here,"
Thundrus then pointed at White's chest where her heart was supposed to be.
"She's right there, along with the rest of your family and friends."
White was about to speak, but the pokemon behind her started to howl and hiss with fear. Seth, Archy, Penelope, Tiny, and Purr were all staring at a spot in the trees a few meters away from them.
"What's wrong?" White demanded, remembering that Lavender Town was said to be haunted.
"Someone's over there!" hissed Seth, his tail twitching.
"Mira?"
"Can't have been!" growled Purr. "Mira isn't over six feet tall, is she?!"
"BIGFOOT?" suggested Di-Di excitedly.
"Di-Di you idiot, Bigfoot doesn't exist!" Tiny snapped. "Its supposed to be a very hairy Ursaring!"
"Never mind that, what did you guys see?!" White repeated anxiously.
"It was human, that's for sure." Purr told her. "But it was...different."
"What do you mean?" She asked.
Archy, Purr, and Tiny all exchanged looks. The three pokemon had shocked looks on their faces.
"The human's scent," Archy started nervously. "Was almost exactly like...yours."
White's confusion increased at this.
"How could they be the same?" She whispered after a moment.
"Well there's a few ways, but only one seems likely." said Tiny, still watching the place where the human had been. "It's possible to smell someone who's gone back in time, except the only way to go back is with Dialga or Celebi. But the other way is more likely yet almost impossible in this case."
"What is it?"
"Well," started Archy nervously. "Families share the same scents. You and your brother have very similar scents, but N is in Unova. Your mother and sister are dead, so that just leaves..."
It took White a minute to realize what Archy was talking about.
"N-No!" White protested, standing up and staring at the trees.
"Either that or it's your future descendent." said Purr grimly.
"He's not coming back!" White growled, trying to convince herself more than anyone else. "He hates me! He left me! I'm a disappointment to him!"
"People can change, Whitney, even your dad." whispered Di-Di. "You're living proof of that."
White stopped abruptly.
"What do you mean by that?" She asked curiously.
All her pokemon exchanged looks. They looked scared and jumpy.
"Whitney, we know something happened in your coma, something we don't know about." Thundrus finally growled. "Before your coma, you never trusted or forgave anyone. You were a bit..."
"Distant toward others." ended Di-Di, the pokemon giving her approving nods.
"But when you came out of your coma, you became a whole different person!" Penelope piped up. "You forgave N and Raichu, you were much nicer toward everybody!"
"I...I did?" White asked, perplexed by this news. The pokemon all nodded.
"But your behavior never changed our love for you!" Archy added hurriedly, seeing the look on White's face.
"We love you no matter what," hissed Seth. "Cranky or not, you're what keeps us all together."
White opened her mouth to speak but no words came out. She was touched by all of this. Her pokemon were her only family, and they made her feel better about everything.
"Thank you," she croaked, breaking the silence. "Thanks for being there for me, all of you."
The pokemon all gave her joyful looks before Tiny said, "Has anyone noticed that Raichu's gone?"
White was suddenly brought back to her senses by this. Indeed, Raichu wasn't in the cemetery.
"I'll find her." she told the pokemon, who were beginning to start hunting down Raichu.
She returned all of her pokemon except for Archy to their pokeballs, and began picking up her things.
"Where could she have gone?" Archy asked as White climbed onto his back with her bag and guitar case.
"I don't know, but she couldn't have gone far." White replied.
The Arcanine nodded and pelted into the forest, leaving the cemetery behind them. White was starting to wonder if Raichu had ran away or had gone crazy from grief.
"She's nearby, I've picked up her scent." Archy howled to White.
Sure enough, they didn't need to go far to find the Raichu. She was curled up under a large oak tree, sobbing into the ground. Her tail was curled around her, and White noticed with pity that Raichu was sucking it.
Archy stopped in front of Raichu, and White leapt off his back. Raichu looked up at White with a frightened expression. She could see the Raichu's body shaking violently.
"Why did you run off?" White asked in a quiet voice.
Raichu sniffed and sobbed into her tail. "I-I was ashamed! I was the first pokemon to become Amycus' friend when he joined the team, and I ended up being his killer! It's all my fault that he's gone!"
White sighed and sat next to her partner. She put her arms around the pokemon and set Raichu in her lap.
"Raichu, look at me." White whispered. The Raichu lifted her head and looked into her face.
"Do I look like I'm mad at you? If I do, I'm not. It's not your fault. Ghetsis took away your memories and replaced them with lies, so we all understand that it was an accident."
"B-But I almost killed you!"
"I know, but I'm still here."
Raichu didn't look convinced. White looked at Archy for help.
"Raichu, we all make mistakes," said Archy, laying next to White. "It's part of life. But forgiveness is also part of life. We forgave you for what happened, and to be honest, we wouldn't have it any other way."
"Raichu," White started, digging for something in her coat pocket. "No matter what happens, you're my best friend. I loved you even when you couldn't remember. In my eyes, you'll always be that caring and thoughtful little Pichu who made my life worth living."
White then put a necklace around Raichu's neck. It had half a heart on it with half of the word BFF on it. Raichu stared at the necklace while White put her own on. Then Raichu hugged White tightly and buried her face in White's chest. White smiled and glanced at Archy. The Arcanine was wiping tears off his muzzle.
"Dude, are you crying?" White whispered with a smirk.
"No, I'm-"
"Sweating through your eyes? Come on, that's the oldest one in the book."
Archy chuckled and rested his head between his paws. White set Raichu on her other side and removed her guitar case off of Archy's back. She set her guitar up and began to sing.
He cries in the corner where nobody sees
He's the kid with the story no one would believe
He prays every night, "Dear God won't you please...
Could you send someone here who will love me?"
Who will love me for me?
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
'Cause nobody has shown me what love
What love really means
Her office is shrinking a little each day
She's the woman whose husband has run away
She'll go to the gym after working today
Maybe if she was thinner
Then he would've stayed
And she says...
Who will love me for me?
Not for what I have done or what I will become
Who will love me for me?
'Cause nobody has shown me what love, what love really means
He's waiting to die as he sits all alone
He's a man in a cell who regrets what he's done
He utters a cry from the depths of his soul
"Oh Lord, forgive me, I want to go home"
Then he heard a voice somewhere deep inside
And it said
"I know you've murdered and I know you've lied
I have watched you suffer all of your life
And now that you'll listen, I'll tell you that I..."
I will love you for you
Not for what you have done or what you will become
I will love you for you
I will give you the love
The love that you never knew
White looked up at the sky and sighed. So much had happened to her during the war with Team Plasma. She lost a friend and an arm, but she had gained friends and a brother.
Her mind then wandered back to when her pokemon thought they saw her father. Could it be possible that he was still alive? Could Elymas Gropius still be around, searching for his children?
I will find you, she thought, I will find you, Daddy, even if it's the last thing I do.
As she began to fall asleep, White Copperstone felt as if life could finally go back to normal.
She was finally saved.

So the credits are done now. I'm now going to bring up a subject that I want everyone to read.
vvv MUST READ! vvv
Copying.
I wish I could give it another word, but there really isn't one. I'm not going to accuse people or give names in case it's a false alarm, but I think I should put this up before the real deal comes up.
This week, I found a book that was strangely similar to Spite Without Shame. The main character's personality and talents were almost exactly like White's, and there were other similarities. I'm sorry, but I was really ticked off. I still am actually.
Guys, I'm glad you like this book, I really am. But please don't copy it. I feel very threatened right now, and I'm kinda scared about speaking out. I work my butt off making this book. I've stayed up till two in the morning to update this. I'm begging you, please don't take SWS and make it your own.
Right now, I'm scared people will read the copy-er's book, read mine, and then accuse me of copying from my own book. White Copperstone has literally been around for about four years, so she isn't copied. I made her after myself. She's who I would want to be if I was in Pokemon. Wattpad probably didn't even exist when White was made. The same thing goes for Sky Blue and Mira. Please don't take them away from me.
I'm so sorry if I sound selfish. Please understand my situation :( I don't want to be a victim of copying. If you are copying or taking parts and quotes from Spite Without Shame, please stop.
^^^
NEXT THING: The sequel.
The continued adventure of White Copperstone, the search for her father, lots of chaos and lunatics (coughcough SKY BLUE coughcough), should be exciting. (But the sequel is never as good as the prequel :P)
I'm going to start the sequel after this. The people who answered my plea for advise said I should make it a Pokemon X and Y fanfic, so that means two characters and an extra character will be added. I will put a temporary post on SWS when the sequel is published, so readers not following me will be notified.
So then... this is where we say good bye. (I'll try not to cry....) White has agreed to post a Truth or Dare book on her account, so that will be up soon. White's account is on my profile page, so go check it out. Her account is White_Copperstone.
Next step: The Pokemon Watty Awards for 2014. Phew, I made the deadline XD This is my first time entering, so I hope SWS gets an award ;3
So until the sequel, I will leave now. I hope you'll come back to read the sequel! :3 Please tell me what you've thought of Spite Without Shame! Please vote and/or comment! My readers, thanks so much for your support and nice comments! Thank you! So good bye until later!
