Chapter 5
Chapter 5
(P.S. When a large section of the chapter is written with italics, it means it's a flashback. Flashbacks are always at the beginning of a chapter.)
"WHITNEY JOY GROPIUS, GET IN HERE NOW!" Whitney heard her mother shriek.
The little girl was in her room with the door and windows locked. She was hiding in her closet. Her only pokemon friend, her Pichu, was shivering next to her.
"GET OUT, I KNOW YOUR IN THERE!" her mother screamed again, her fists pounding on the door. Tears were sliding down Whitney's face, but she refused to leave the safety of her closet.
Her mother couldn't have her. Pichu couldn't leave.
"HANNAH, PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER!" Whitney's grandfather yelled at her mother. "Whitney can do what ever she wants when she gets older! You can't choose everything for her! She can have a pokemon if she wants one!"
"EASY FOR YOU TO SAY!" Mother shouted, and the pounding suddenly stopped. "Those foul creatures are the reason I can't see through my eye! AND YOU STAND THERE LETTING MY CHILDREN MAKE FRIENDS WITH THOSE BEASTS?!"
Whitney started to cry harder. "Don't cry!" Pichu whimpered to her. "Your grandfather will make her understand!"
She didn't believe her. Pichu didn't know her mother like she did. Grandfather was strong and persuading, but he never got far with his daughter.
"Pokemon are just as kind as humans! Hannah, that accident was years ago! The trainer even apologized, and so did the pokemon! You were 10 years old, and now your an adult! You should have more sense-"
"MORE SENSE?!" Mother shrieked. "I HAVE ENOUGH SENSE TO SAY THIS! I NEVER WANT YOU TO SEE MY CHILDREN AGAIN! OTHERWISE I WILL DO WORSE!"
"Your mad!" Grandfather shouted.
"EITHER THE POKEMON GO, OR THEY GO!" she screamed.
Pichu started to look far more worried. Whitney had heard many fights between Grandfather and Mother, but this one was gonna change her whole future and she knew it.

White felt water splatter on her face. She blinked and looked around. She was alone again, but she honestly didn't care. White liked be alone more then being with others. She was sitting by a river near Floccesy Town, where it was raining lightly.
It had been awhile since White last thought about her grandfather and mother's last fight. If she would have known what would've happened next, White would have never left her room.
One thing she remembered was that her brother came home into a hurricane that night, that's for sure. Mother had shouted at N, and asked if he was playing with those 'beasts'.
Next thing White knew, N and Mother were having a fight of their own.
He spoke very highly of pokemon, so of course this upset him. She guessed that fight made her mother's decision, because the next day she took White and N into the forest and left them there.
"What are we doing today?" A voice hissed in her ear. White flinched, and turned around. Zoroark was prowling behind her.
"Go away." White growled in frustration.
"I can't. I am your pokemon, so I must stay by your side." Zoroark hissed lightly.
N gave White his Zoroark for her Purrloin so that no one ratted out at the last minute. Purr was not pleased, but was willing to do it. White didn't entirely like the Zoroark, but he would listen to her.
"I mean go do something else." White rephrased. Zoroark shrugged and padded up next to her.
"Why are we still on this route?" asked Zoroark.
"Because I know how much you like it here." said White sarcastically. "No, because I don't want to go into the town!"
"Why?"
White started to walk along the river, ignoring Zoroark who was running by her side.
"I don't want to meet certain people there," She said finally.
"Who are we trying to avoid?"
"I heard Alder lives there. I don't exactly want to run into him."
"Alder?" Zoroark repeated, giving a puzzled look. "Isn't he the last Champion?"
"Yes, but I don't exactly want to meet Alder-"
"Did someone say my name?" a familiar voice said.
Oh shoot, White thought angrily as she stopped, Oh all the people it had to be him...
Alder, the last Unvoa champion, was sitting on a boulder a little ways away. He had a Bouffalant with him, which White recognized. The sight of him made her furious, but she swallowed down her feelings.
"Is that you White? I haven't seen you in a long while!" Alder said, and stood up.
"It's me," said White bitterly.
"Well how are you? Still stronger than ever?" he asked, with a hint of amusement in his tone.
"I can see why you don't like him." Zoroark growled.
"You say something, punk?" the Bouffalant snapped.
"No."
"Yes you did- wait, I have seen you before."
"No you haven't!" hissed Zoroark, sounding a bit panicked.
"Have you heard that Team Plasma was sighted?" Alder asked her.
"Kinda," growled White uneasily, but she was now intrigued.
Alder looked at the river. "Yeah, they have been seen near my house. They have also been seen near a farm. I have only seen grunts, no one real important."
White didn't say anything.
"I am pretty sure I have seen you." Bouffalant repeated as he tried to remember Zoroark.
"Yeah? Well I'm gonna be the last thing you see if you keep it up-" but Zoroark yelped as White pressed her foot on his tail.
"Be quiet!" she muttered.
"So what are you doing here?" Alder asked, changing the subject. "I have seen you outside the city for three days."
White shifted uncomfortably, "I was, err, looking around. I am never around this part of Unvoa." she lied.
He shrugged. "Well then, since your new to this part of the region, how about a battle?" Alder asked, pulling out a pokeball.
White moved her hand toward her bag. Half of her wanted to run, but she wanted to accept. Zoroark swayed next to her. "Accept, accept!" Zoroark growled.
White smirked at Alder. "Fine. Challenge accepted."
