Chapter 38
Chapter 38
"Oliver, use Aqua Jet! Packs, Hyper Fang!" Amos ordered his two pokemon, as the Liepard and Tranquill started scratching at the Dewott and Watchog.
Oliver screeched and shot a jet of water at the Tranquill, making it fly away. Packs glared at Amos and stuck out his tongue, ignoring him completely.
"Come on, Packs!" he shouted at the Watchog as the Liepard started scratching at Pack's belly.
"You idiot, Pac!" Oliver screamed at his companion, using Fury Cutter on the Liepard.
The Liepard howled with rage and tore back into the forest. Amos huffed and leaned against a nearby tree.
"What were you thinking, Packs?!" the Dewott snapped furiously at the Watchog. Packs shrugged and started playing with a flower on the ground.
"None of your business." Packs muttered as he pulled the flower out of the ground, dusting it off with his tail. Packs gave Amos a scathing look and ran into the tall grass.
"What is wrong with him?!" Amos hissed, following his Watchog.
"I do." Oliver said, smirking slightly.
"What?"
"He has he's mind on Rapi." the Dewott said.
"Rapi?" he repeated.
Oliver nodded. "Yeah, he has a crush on her. I think I know why he won't listen to you."
"Why?" Amos asked as the grotto came into view.
"Packs likes White more than you." Oliver explained. "You don't give him much attention. He thinks you like Liliana and I more. He feels out of place."
"She could have him." he snarled. "I wish she had Packs instead of Hydreigon."
N had given White his Hydreigon since she needed one last pokemon for her new pokemon team. Everyone hated Hydreigon. He would bite out at their pokemon when least expecting it, and would snarl at Archy and shoot insults at him.
Oliver darted into the grotto after looking around for spies. Amos ducked down and followed him.
White was sitting on the ground in the corner of the small clearing. She had been living in the grotto for a few days now. She had barely left to go outside, still scared that someone would recognize her. White had only went out once with Sky Blue, but they never said where they had gone. They hadn't been the same since.
White looked up as he entered. Amos shuddered as he saw her hair and eyes. He hadn't gotten use to her new hair and eye color. He preferred her brown and green hair to her blonde hair, and had liked her hazel eyes instead of the blue.
"Where's Packs?" she asked as Amos sat down next to her. White's fake trainer card was in her hands.
"I don't know," He replied. "He ran off somewhere. Where are the others?"
"Leia, Mira, and Hugh went to the gym, and Sky Blue left." She answered.
"Sky left?" Amos said, surprised. White nodded.
"Some Plasma grunts saw him sneak into the city, and tried to catch him. He got away, but he had to leave. Sky left me Shane in case of an emergency, though." and White held up a small pokeball with a green S on it.
Oliver, who was scratching at one of the trees, groaned. He and Shane didn't get along very well.
"Have you seen your brother?" he asked. She didn't answer, but shook her head. Amos saw her turn away from him and rub her eyes.
White was getting worse and worse every day. Her eyes were unfocused, and she had dark bags under them. She seemed to be smaller and thinner. Sky Blue had told White that she couldn't wear her usual blue overcoat anymore, so she was shivering more often now. The sweat shirt she wore was very thin, so she was very cold.
"You look awful," Amos told her sympathetically. White didn't say anything, but wrapped her arms around herself.
"I haven't been sleeping well lately." She rasped quietly. "I have just been having... strange dreams."
White suddenly hissed and grabbed her bag from next her. Amos watched as she pulled off her sweat shirt and took out the once ripped overcoat from inside her bag. She swung it over herself and leaned against one of the trees.
"Didn't Sky say that you had to wear the sweat shirt?" he asked, smiling slightly.
"What he won't know won't hurt him." White muttered, and Oliver gave a squeal of laughter. "I feel weird without this."
Amos shrugged and pulled out his pokedex. The pokedex showed that he had seen over 100 pokemon, but he had only caught eight.
"How far are you on your pokedex?" Amos asked White curiously. She shrugged.
"I don't know. I think I have filled up most of it." She said, pulling her overcoat closer. "But I haven't seen Mew."
"Mew?" he said blankly. White nodded and her eyes darted toward the grotto entrance.
"Mew is an amazing pokemon," she hissed. "I have always wanted to meet it."
"If you could have one legendary pokemon," Amos started slowly, "Which would it be?"
White didn't answer. The trees began to shudder as rain started to pour down from the sky outside. White trembled as rain drops started to find ways through the leaves and dropped into her head.
"I-I would have Reshiram." She finally stammered, pulling her hood over her head. Oliver laid on the ground next to Amos, looking bored.
"When can we goooooooooooo?" he whined. "I'm bored of this stupid route!"
"Join the club." muttered White, folding her arms. Amos gave a small smile.
A loud noise came from outside, and he and Oliver jumped up. White yelped and covered her face with a brown scarf.
"Who's there?" Amos called out.
"Don't worry!" Mira's voice replied, "It's just us!"
Oliver's ear twitched before laying back on the ground as Mira, Leia, and Hugh entered the grotto. Severusa, Randy, and Ringdog followed their trainer. Each one had a smug look on their face.
"I won!" Leia said excitedly, "I beat the gym!"
"Almost lost too." scoffed Hugh. "The gym leader took down Severusa and Ringdog, and Randy was ignoring her most of the time. Mira even covered her eyes at one point. So in all, I'll give the battle an F."
The two girls glared at him while White giggled silently. Randy's face turned red as Oliver gave another screech of laughter. Severusa and Ringdog avoided looking at the Sandile.
"Where is Sky Blue?" Leia finally asked, looking at White and Amos.
"He left, " said White. "Team Plasma almost caught him, so he had to leave."
"Good riddance." Amos heard Hugh mutter. White scowled at him.
"So," Mira started, who was still glaring at Hugh. "White, I think you and I will have to go to Undella Town. The police have been searching people. They're really scared that you'll try and do something serious.
"They're so kind and polite." White sneered sarcastically. The corners of Mira's mouth twitched.
"Yeah, well," Leia said hurriedly, "Skyla, the gym leader, was going to take us to Lentimas Town, but Mira said you shouldn't go."
"I agree on that." said White, nodding. "Should I go on the plane?" Amos asked, looking at Mira.
"I would." Hugh said, "But make up your mind soon. We're leaving in half an hour."
"I think we should go now. I can't stand this place anymore." White snarled to Mira as she stood up. "Fine!" Mira said brightly and left the grotto. White picked up her bag and followed her friend outside, looking relieved at the thought of leaving the grotto.
Amos was about to follow everyone out, but he noticed a small hole in the corner of the grotto. He looked around before peering inside. Something black and white was glittering from under the dirt.
Oliver was still there and was looking at the hole to. "What is that?" he asked curiously.
"Don't know." Amos replied, turning to face his Dewott, "Could you go find Packs? We're going on that plane soon."
His pokemon looked furious but Amos said hurriedly "I will tell you later! Just please go find him!" Once Oliver had left, Amos lifted the item from out of the hole.
It was a large jewelry box. It had the Yin and Yang symbol on it, but instead of the black and white sides, it had Reshiram and Zekrom. Zekrom representing the black side, and Reshiram representing the white side. Each pokemon formed the circle, but looking as if they were trying to catch the other's tail.
Words were engraved on top of and under Zekrom and Reshiram.
This belongs to Whitney J. Gropius- The Queen of Spark and Flame
Curious, Amos opened the box and saw its contents. A variety of items were scattered around inside it. A small pokeball was quivering slightly in one of its corners. The brooch with the rainbow stone was laying next to a stack of newspaper articles. A necklace with the same Yin and Yang symbol on the box was laying next to two oversized marbles. A Bravairy pin was clipped onto an old brown scarf. There was also a pile of letters and photos near the bottom.
With a jolt, Amos found what looked like a pair of glasses that had been taken off a dying person. The lenses were shattered, and the rims were scarlet with blood. These must have belonged to Sky Blue before he had lost his eye.
Why would White hide something like this? Would she come back for it? It would be a clear giveaway if a trainer or police officer got a hold of this. Or was she just trying to hide this from him and his cousins?
Mira and Sky Blue must have known about this box if Sky's glasses were in here. White didn't seem like the person to hide this from her closest friends.
Amos took out one of the letters and looked at the name of the sender and the receiver. This letter was from a woman named Hannah Gropius, and the letter was sent to a man called Gregory Copperfield. Then he remembered that Gregory was White's grandfather. Hannah must have been White's mother.
He straightened out the paper and began to read.
Dear Father,
I'm sorry I haven't been in contact with you. I have been very busy, since I have to raise two children by myself. Natural might be getting older, but he is still a hand full. Whitney has been sick, so I have been taking care of her.
I have gone to the police station to see about my ex husband. They still haven't been able to find any man with the last name of Gropius. The sheriff said that Elymas might be hiding under a false name.
It makes me said to know that my children may meet their father and not know it's him. Whitney isn't even old enough to understand why Elymas left, and I dread the day when I'll have to tell her the truth.
Whitney is getting very sick. I don't know what to do for her anymore. She is only three months old, so I'm scared it might be something serious. She'll be fine when I put her to bed, but then she'll wake up screaming. Then she'll start coughing for most of the day. It's really getting on my nerves.
I wish that Mom was still here. She would have known what's wrong with her. She was the best, or maybe because she was a nurse.
On a different note, a young couple moved in next door. Someone had told them that I was the daughter of the famous Gregory Copperfield. The young woman, Beth, was all over me. She even asked Natural if he was going to be like his grandfather when he grew up. Forgive me, but that drove me crazy.
I would really appreciate it if you could come and visit. I could use someone to watch over Natural. I might get more stuff done that way. If you do come, please don't bring your pokemon. Or just not bring them out around the children.
Until we meet again, I say my farewell.
Your daughter,
Hannah
Amos stopped reading. He had no idea what to feel about this. His feelings were a mix of anger and sympathy.
White had screamed in her sleep when she was a baby. It reminded Amos of when White had woke up screaming after escaping from the Plasma Frigate. Had this been happening even sixteen years later?
Whitney isn't even old enough to understand why Elymas left, and I dread the day when I'll have to tell her the truth.
Amos remembered what White had told him about her father's disappearance. She had said that he had left because she was a girl. He now wondered if Ghetsis was Elymas under a false name.
It still didn't make sense, even if Ghetsis was Elymas. If he was White's father, why did he only take N? It didn't seem right that he didn't adopt her just because White was a girl. Ghetsis had taken in Concordia and Anthea. White had also said that it might have been because she was immature.
Amos than realized he had only fifteen minutes left to catch up with Leia and Hugh. He put the letter back into the jewelry box and closed it sharply. He shoved it inside his bag, hoping that White wouldn't miss it.
~~~
Ello.
We had a power outage that lasted almost two hours, so I was able to finish this up.
Idk, I do not know much about Ghetsis. I know he was N's foster father, but he could have been his real father to .-. So I made up another guy as N and White's father that could have been Ghetsis.
I'm confusing myself, so MOVING ON.
I just wanted to say that the Bravairy pin gives a hint on White's birthday. Bravairy is one of the Pokemon Horoscopes. It represents one of the months, so let's see who can figure out which month Bravairy represents.
Hint: Her birthday is on my birthday month. Not much help, BUT.
Guess what? 3,000 reads :0
One thing: I. LOVE. YOU. GUYS.
IT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. THANK YOU SO MUCH. *Throws cookies*
Ok, good night :D
