Chapter 15
Chapter 15
"Severusa, Vine Whip!" Leia cried as her Snivy swung her vines across a wild Magnemite's metal side. It made a noise like an out of tune radio before falling to the ground unconscious.
"Why didn't you catch that?" Hugh asked Leia, standing next to her and looking frustrated.
"It was too weak!" Leia answered, marching back into the tall grass.
White, who had bent down to check the Magnemite for serious damage, sighed.
"That's like the tenth Magnemite today that was 'too weak'." she said, feeling slightly annoyed.
"I bet that every pokemon in this stupid abandoned factory place is too weak for her. I'm surprised that none of her pokemon have evolved yet." Amos huffed in an annoyed tone.
"Yeah, no kidding," agreed Hugh.
White straightened up as a raindrop fell on her face. They have been in the Virbank Complex (the abandoned factory) for almost three hours. None of them had been able to catch a pokemon.
"It's raining again?! I can't use Tepig now!" Hugh groaned, as the rain started to fall slightly harder.
"That's good news for me. Oliver's power will go up." Amos sneered at his cousin.
"Speak for yourself, I have a Fire Type and you both have a Water Type!" Hugh snapped.
"I have two Fire Types." White pointed out, starting to go back into the tall grass.
"At least you got a Water Type, a Grass Type, a Dark Type, and a Psychic Type!" he retorted next to her.
"You got Pidove though." Amos reminded Hugh.
"Yeah, but there are Electric Types around here, and Flying Types don't do well against them."
"Look on the bright side. There are Fire types around here, so at least they will be weaker." White growled.
"What kind of Fire Types?" asked Amos.
"I think there are Magby and Growlithe-"
"DID YOU SAY GROWLITHE?!" Leia's voice cried as she leapt out in front of them, making them all jump.
"Yes," White answered as if nothing happened, making Hugh snicker.
"OH MY GOSH, I WANT A GROWLITHE! THEN I CAN HAVE AN ARCANINE TOO!" She squealed happily and twirled in a circle.
"I was gonna catch a Growlithe too!" Amos snapped angrily.
"There is probably hundreds of Growlithe around here-" but White was cut off by Leia, who started shouting at Amos.
"But I want one! I heard that you can't have the same pokemon in your team as the other person in your group!" Leia whined.
"You have a Riolu! We only have a Patrat and a Pidove! They're not as rare as Riolu!" Amos pointed out.
"Look, we can try to sort this out!" Hugh told them, trying to get his sister and cousin's attention.
"You both are arguing about a pokemon you haven't even caught, or have even seen!" said White a little more forcefully.
Leia and Amos stopped, but they were still glaring at each other.
"How about who ever catches a Growlithe first gets to have it? I will help the loser catch something else." White continued on.
Leia stuck her tongue out at Amos before nodding. Amos seemed to have forced himself to nod.
"Ok, go find the Growlithe." said White, and she motioned to them to go.
The two tore off in a split second. This left Hugh and White alone. White felt her face turn red. She honestly didn't want to be alone with Hugh. She remembered what Zoroark said about Hugh liking her.
"They must really want a Growlithe." Hugh finally said, breaking the awkward silence.
"Well I don't blame them. I met Archy when he was an Arcanine, but they are very loyal." White told him, smiling slightly.
"That Arcanine of yours seems to really like you." Hugh commented, making White's smile grow a bit.
"He has been the closest thing to a father I have." she admitted.
Then she said hurriedly after seeing Hugh give a puzzled look, "I mean, he looks after me, and he has gotten me out of tough spots. He seems to be one of the only living things that loves me for who I am."
"Well I like you," Hugh said shyly. White blushed.
"Thanks, but I bet you're just saying that." she told him truthfully.
"I'm being honest though."
"You see, ever since I was a little girl, humans pretend to love me and then they turn their backs on me. They abandon me."
"Why would they do that?"
White tilted her head. Her father didn't love her. Her ability to talk and understand pokemon was the reason why her mother left her. Her brother had kept secrets from her, and then suddenly goes and leaves her.
"I'm just different." White finally said, ending the conversation. They stood in silence for a bit. Rain started to fall a bit harder.
"Have you been to any other regions?" Hugh finally asked. White nodded.
"I have been to Johto, Kanto, and Kalos. I found Kalos the most depressing region, though." she added and started walking forward.
"Why?" he asked, walking beside her.
She shrugged and explained, "There is lots of...death. There is also a lot of supernatural stuff there. It creeps me out. I even think I met a ghost there. I met it twice."
Hugh stopped. "A ghost? Where?" asked the rookie a bit eagerly.
"In Lumiose City. There is a building on the outskirts of the city that I saw it in." White explained.
"Can you tell me about it?" said Hugh, making her smile.
"Well, I was waiting for someone inside the building when three kids came out of the elevator, and they were all frightened. One of the employees asked them what happened, and they said they saw a see-through girl. She had appeared behind them, and floated through them, saying "You are not the one", and vanished. I was curious, so I went up to the fourth floor to where they saw it. When I got out of the elevator, the lights went out, and I felt something cold behind me. Then a girl appeared in front of me, and she said "You are not the one", and than she vanished."
"You said you met her twice though!" Hugh pointed out, sticking uncomfortably close to White.
"I did. In the hotel I stayed in." she added. "In the room next to mine." Hugh stared at her.
"I was leaving my hotel room, and then I heard muttering from the room next to mine. I looked in, and the same girl in the building was there. She looked a little more solid than before. She muttered 'Don't talk to me, I might not hear the elevator'. However, she said it more slowly."
"And what did you do?" he asked.
"I left the city." White ended, smirking a little. Hugh looked doubtful.
"Is this story true?" he asked. White gave a sly smile.
"The pokemon who 'witnessed' this are in no condition to tell you." she said.
"WHITE, HUGH, STOP HER!" Amos's voice yelled, and they heard Leia screaming at him.
Amos ran out in front of them, with a pokeball grasped in his hands. Leia leapt out after him and started hitting him with her bag.
"YOU'RE A ROTTEN DIRTY CHEATER!" Leia screamed.
"I GOT IT FAIR AND SQUARE!" Amos shouted, trying to avoid Leia's swinging bag.
"HOLD IT!" White screamed at the two, and they stopped. Hugh snickered loudly.
"What's the big deal?!" She demanded furiously.
"I think he cheated! He got a Growlite behind my back!" Leia cried.
"It was poisoned, so it wasn't that difficult to catch!" Amos explained.
"Leia, I can help you get a Magby or something else, ok? Amos won the Growlithe." White said, trying to keep her temper down. Leia growled and kicked a rusty pipe on the ground.
"Not the same!" Leia whined.
"Maybe we can find an Elekid." Hugh suggested.
"A Magby isn't that bad." White huffed.
A Magnemite suddenly floated above the grass, and Leia screamed. "I'M GONNA CATCH IT!" She shouted and ran after it.
"She almost killed me!" Amos snapped when Leia was out of ear shot.
"Being hit by a bag isn't exactly murder, Little Amos." Hugh snickered in a baby voice. White smirked slightly.
"I guess I have to catch another pokemon." she sighed and followed Leia.
"Don't catch her a really strong pokemon, please? Because then it will be the end of the world for all of us." Amos snarled, and he stalked off ahead of them.
