You thought your life was over.

You thought of all places this was how it was going to end.

It was when your breathing was restricted as you sank to the bottom of the River.

Precious bubbles of air escaped your mouth as you screamed, but it was useless.

It was when you let go of your last breath, it was over.

Closing your eyes you accepted your fate.

But. A sound muffled in the water swam past and made it's way towards you.

A snake. a dragon.
Coming to devour your body from your watery grave.

But no. It grabbed you and held you in it's mouth.

It flew out of the water and into the shore.

Putting you down in the soft grass.

It transformed into a boy. And lowered it's head to your chest. Carefully he listened for your heartbeat.

Barely breathing, but you were alright.
He kept by your side. Guarding you with his presence and left a few moments before you woke up.

He knew you were going to be okay.
And kept his eye on you from the skies.
