CHIHIRO
I quickly grabbed my shirt and pants beside me, and I hid under the sheet to put them on. I looked up to still see a furious Kao in front of us, but I wasn't scared of him.
"Go away, Kao," I ordered, standing. "You're not wanted here."
Surprisingly, he calmed down.
"Fine, I'll go," he stated, taking a small step forward. Then, he smirked widely. "But, I'm taking you with me."
It all happened so fast. Kao ran to me, grabbed me, and threw me over his shoulder. I kicked and tried to fight back, but he was so much stronger than I was.
"Let her go!" Haku exclaimed.
Before I knew it, the sound of glass breaking could be heard, and I was flying over clear, blue water.
I was kicking and screaming, but I looked up to find Haku's dragon form right on Kao's trail. He caught up to him, biting him on the leg and making him fall. Kao's grasp on me weakened, and I started to descend toward the sea below. Luckily, I landed on Haku's back. We watched Kao splash into the water.
I hugged Haku's neck tightly. But then, my attention went to the spot Kao landed. All of a sudden, a dragon- the same size as Haku- emerged from the water. I dug my fingers into Haku's fur in fear.
Impossible, I thought, taking a better look at the animal.
The dragon was covered in purple jet-black fur, with white hors, red whiskers and red eyes, making him look really intimidating. I could tell by the looks of it that it was indeed Kao in a dragon form.
Haku growled, then rushed through the sky, back to the bathhouse. I held onto him for dear life. I peered back, and Kao was right on our tail.
Haku slowed down and stopped at the bridge, and I stepped off of him. Without warning, Kao crashed into Haku, and they flew off, sending the two in a bloodbath in the sky. I watched them in horror, praying to God that Haku wouldn't get injured.
"Be careful, Haku!" I screamed out.
They bit and scratched at each other. Then, Kao was caught in Haku's bite, and he suddenly became limp. Haku threw him aside, and Kao's still dragon form dropped to the ground near me.
I gasped as he began to transform back to his human form. He had blood all over his clothing, and bruises and cuts were covering his face and skin. I took a step toward him, examining him.
That's when Haku landed beside me, in his human form. He took my hand and pulled me back.
"Don't," he said. "He's dangerous."
I gestured to him that I would be okay and turned back to Kao. To my surprise, a small, black object slid out of his mouth. I stared at it closely and realized it was a slug.
"DON'T STEP ON IT!!"
I turned around quickly to find Zeniba running to us from the entrance of the bathhouse.
"Granny?" I asked her when she was standing beside me. "What are you doing here?"
Zeniba reached into her pocket and pulled out a jar. She scooped up the slug and put it in there.
"Kao had accidentally injested my Slug of Evil," she explained, peering at the moving thing in the jar. "It must of slipped into his Transformation Charm by mistake."
I sighed, remembering what Kao had told me as to why he changed his form.
"Don't worry, child," she comforted. "He'll be back to himself in no time."
As Zeniba walked away, Haku showed up beside me, taking my hand in his.
"Everything's going to be fine, Chihiro," he said. "We have each other, and that's all that matters."
I looked down at the injured Kao as he started to slightly move his limbs, quietly groaning in pain. Then, I looked back at Haku. His eyes told me that what he was saying was the truth. I smiled at him.
And, like always, the love was there.
