"Alpha? Why can't we explore the Whispering Woods?"
Alpha sighed, and rolled his eyes a little.
"Young Stardancer," he said. "How many times do I have to tell you that it's too dangerous to go there?"
"But Alpha!" I began, but Alpha hushed me.
"You're not going to the Whispering Woods!" He scolded. "I said it's too dangerous!"
"How do you know?" I asked. "Have you been there before?"
Silence, but his eyes gave everything away.
"Aha! How do you know it's so dangerous if you've never been there?" I asked.
Alpha snarled. "Stardancer! I swear, I'll demote you if you keep acting like that!"
I saw a movement coming from a black and dark gray wolf, and I shuddered.
Shadewalker walked up towards us, his red eyes glinting dangerously.
"Do we have a disobedient wolf?" He asked. "Should I put her in her place?"
"No, Shadewalker, that's not necessary," Alpha said. "For now."
My ears flattened as I went back into my den, sulking.
I refused to talk to anyone, I even skipped prey time, that was how mad I was.
This isn't fair, I want to explore the Whispering Woods.
Maybe it's not a dangerous place, after all, none of us have gone there before.
"I know you want to go to the Whispering Woods." Dreamcatcher had said once.
"I do," I had replied. "And it's not fair!"
"One day, the rules may change," she told me. "Remember, curiosity killed the cat."
Well guess what? I'm a wolf, not a cat.
I watched as my pack mates went into the separate dens.
