A New Feeling
The next morning, I woke up refreshed but nervous.
My pack will notice that I'm gone. I realized.
"Thanks for letting me stay," I said. "Maybe I can let my pack share their territory."
Daybreak looked worried about that. "I'm afraid two packs hunting in one territory will cause conflict," she said. "But we would appreciate it."
I nodded. "Well, goodbye," I said as I turned around.
"Alpha, wait," Moonlark said. "If it's alright with Stardancer... I'd like to escort her back to the Enchanted Forest."
Daybreak glanced at me and I nodded. "Very well," she said.
"Goodbye, Stardancer," Nightshade barked.
As the two of us walked away I glanced at Moonlark. "What about your hunting duties?" I asked.
Moonlark shook her head. "I don't hunt," she said. "I scout for threats. Occasionally I'll join a hunt as their scout, but I'm not really a hunter. But they do say that scouts are faster than the hunters." she said with a hint of pride.
"You look fast," I agreed. "Why do you live here?"
Moonlark looked uncomfortable. "I... shouldn't talk about it," she said. "Sorry."
I nodded with understanding. I had only known her for less than a day and yet, Moonlark already seemed like a true friend.
We chatted with each other until we reached the border line of our territories.
"Well, I guess this is it," Moonlark said. "It was nice knowing you."
"Thanks, you too." I replied as Moonlark walked away, occasionally glancing behind her.
I watched until the fog swallowed her up, feeling a strange sense of loss.
Random thing that happened to me in school. (I'm no longer in virtual school)
