Chapter 1 : Spirit Night
Spirit's POV
I'm sobbing. There are dark trees all around me but I can't see where I'm going because first of all I'm partly blind and second of all tears are filling up my eyes. I have no clue where to go or where I am. The past days have gone by in a blur but today seems like it will last for an eternity. After stumbling around, I leaned against a large blob which I think is a tree but since it is soft I don't know and don't care. "What are you doing?" A voice calls, "W-what?" I reply. "Oof!" I got pushed to the ground and landed in a puddle, "You cannot lean on me!" says the voice. "Who-what-how-why... what are you doing here?" I ask, "I should be asking you that, peasant." replies the female voice. "I'm-I'm just trying to find my way and I got lost... I lost everything... I've been wandering here for two days wherever here is..." I say. I get picked up. My eyes go wide. The tears come back and I can't see a thing. I just want to go home. I don't know what's going on or where this mare is taking me, but I don't care, I just want to get out of here. I close my eyes, maybe this is all a dream.

Midnight's POV
I can't believe I'm doing this. I feel a strange attraction to this pony though. Its eyes seem so desperate for help. All this pony has done is sleep. She has been sleeping for about four hours now. I took her to my castle and put her in my guestroom. I brought her up some tea and biscuits but she was still asleep so I put it on the side table. I haven't checked on her for a while. Maybe I should take a peep. I walk up the dark stairs using my magic for light. I open the heavy, oak door peering around it. She is still asleep though she looks like she may wake up soon. I close the door and head over to the room beside it. It's my library with shelves and shelves of books. After choosing a book about complicated spells I walk back to my guestroom. I settle in a chair beside the bed and am soon not aware of my surroundings and I travel to the world of spells. "AWW" A yawn yanks me out of the book world, the pony is moving. I put down the book gently and sit there calmly. The ponies eyes open and they slowly circle the room pausing at each painting and finally locking on me. They stare at me for a long time like they were searching for something.

Spirit's POV
There is a strange pony in front of me. She is sitting there like a statue looking at me. I feel as if her eyes see right into me like I'm exposed to the world. It scares me and I snuggle back into the warm covers. I don't feel tired, just nervous. Where am I? I wonder. " "Wh-Where am I?" I ask. "You are in the queens castle of Enchanted Hollow. I am Midnight Heart, I'm the one who carried you last night." She answers. I look around, I am hungry, there is a plate with biscuits and a saucer with a teacup but they might not be for me. My stomach growls. Midnight looks surprised, "The biscuits and tea are for you." she picks up the plate and offers it to me. I take one in my mouth but I don't want the tea right now. My mind starts to clear after the deep sleep and I now remember more but I'm still nervous to reveal my past and I might burst into tears.

Midnight's POV
She looks confused and I still don't know who she is. I have to know before I let her stay or tell her that I am queen. "Who are you?" I ask. "M-My name is Spirit Night but my friends call me Spirit." She replies. Well now I know who she is. "Before I let you go or permit you to stay I need to know more about your past. Where did you come from?" Spirit's eyes seem to cloud over. "I am nervous to tell you for fear I might burst into tears but here it goes. Me and my parents lived in Canterlot. My parents got sick from a strange illness that no one knew how to cure. They eventually died and I was homeless. For two days I wandered, not knowing where I was going. Until I bumped into you." She looks like a burden was lifted from her by getting it all out. I get up and walk for the door Spirit's face follows my movement. After I close the door tears start gathering in my eyes. Why am I feeling this way. I'm supposed to be tough, hard like a callous. I wasn't supposed to cry over sad stories. I slowly fly into the foyer. I fly right past the chandelier just missing it. After landing on the rock floor I exit out the door. As I walk through the Enchanted Hollow town, people move out of my way clearing a path. I go to the Enchanted Cafe for a scone. I need to process what just happened.

Spirit's POV
I'm bored. I want to explore but I don't know if I'm allowed. Eh, whatever. I get out of the bed and head out the door. There are so many hallways and doors to look through. I don't know where to start. I decide to go to the door beside the guestroom. I open the door to find a library. There are so many books lining shelf after shelf. There's also a fireplace between two pillars to finish the look. I walk up to the nearest shelf and pick up a book. This room is cold, so I feel cold. I trot to the fireplace and pick up a match. I strike it against the bricks to make a flame. The match falls in place in the pit with some paper to start a little flame. I close the hatch. I lay down on my stomach and open up the book. It's called "Flying for Beginners". I'm interested in this book since I can't really fly. The fire crackles and the warmth washes over me. I'm in the perfect place to read a book. I get up to put another log in the fire when the door bursts open and Midnight Heart yells, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY LIBRARY?" "Ah" I say, and drop the book in the fire, it begins to burn to ashes. Midnight Heart rushes forward, trying to put out the fire. She flaps her bat wings, only making it bigger. The book is gone, and so is the carpet. Midnight Heart looks at me with a flame of anger in her eyes. She makes a growling noise in her throat.
