Riley's POV
Riley and the others followed Rollan as they sprinted back towards the ship. Immediately, she could see smoke and another ship heading straight towards them, but it wasn't the Redcloak ship. Instead, it looked like another ship. That's when Riley realized that it was Tellun's Pride II.
(The Keepers have been riding on Tellun's Pride III. Tellun's Pride II has been taken away by Zerif and his slaves)
Riley wondered what had happened to the Redcloak ship and hoped that they would be here soon. Zerif's ship was firing canons on Tellun's Pride III while those on the ship fought back.
"What's the plan?" Irene asked, "We can't risk Zerif getting the Great Beasts and the talismans. How are we going to get out of here?"
"We'll have to hold them off until the Redcloak ship arrives," Shane answered, "Then we can make our escape."
"What about Ivan?" Riley asked, "We need him."
Shane looked at her, so confused, "Why?"
Vhon handed him the letter while Riley explained, "We'll need everyone to reunite in the Evertree. The Great Beasts, their former partners, the Four Fallen, the rest of the Keepers and everyone else for the final battle."
"If what the letter is saying is true," Shane replied, "Then we'll be fighting Zerif at the Evertree, which means we'll be fighting the others as well, including Ivan, wherever he is."
Another nearby boom. The ship was getting closer to the land.
"Quick, we need to get those who have Great Beasts partners, the compasses, the Staff of Cycles and you Keepers to safety," Shane instructed, "The rest of us will defend until the Redcloak ship arrives."
Abeke who had been running towards them with a bunch of other kids, probably Great Beasts summoners as well, heard what he was saying.
"What?" Abeke exclaimed, "We all know that you won't last out there with this many people against the Zerif and the infected. Not to mention that you could get infected."
"We'll be able to hold them off until the Redcloak ship arrives," Shane insisted, "We can't risk losing you. You're our only hope in saving Erdas from the Wyrm."
But Riley saw that Shane's eyes said something else. I can't risk losing you again. I already lost you once.
"You need to stay hidden with the others," he went on, "You need to protect the others."
"Where should we go?" Rollan asked.
"Get to the palace," Shane instructed, "There's a secret passageway that goes underground. Take one of the tunnels to get to the dock. Zerif would think that you're still at the castle if he didn't find the tunnel. Worthy will lead you there."
At the mention of his name, Worthy immediately walked towards them, his eyes giving nothing away.
"You are to protect them," Shane ordered him, "I'll get Talon to help you on that."
Another Redcloak, this time a girl by her figure, stepped forward and nodded. Another canon sounded and Riley saw that the ship was almost at Tellun's Pride III.
Shane glanced at all of them one last time and gave a one-finger salute, "It's an honor working with you all."
"You're making it sound like this will be the last time we'll be seeing each other," Jef muttered but for some reason, Riley thought that it would be the last time.
Shane's gaze swept across all of them, lingering a moment later on Abeke before he nodded and ran to the ship.
"Quick, this way," the Redcloak named Worthy spoke as he started running.
They quickly followed him, Talon taking up the rear as they made their way to the palace. At the entrance to the doors, she saw Abeke stop at the front.
"Abeke, what are you doing?" Rollan asked, confused until his eyes widened in realization.
"I'm going back to help," Abeke replied firmly before turning around and running back.
"Abeke, get back," Rollan yelled and was about to run after her when Talon stopped him.
"I'll go," she said and she ran after her.
"Quick, we must hurry," Worthy ordered, leading them through the huge palace.
Riley didn't have time to marvel at the huge palace as they zipped through the huge hallways. He finally stopped in front of a painting, took one of the sides and pulled, revealing a hidden hallway lit with torches, a spiral staircase leading down.
"Close the painting," Worthy nodded to Jef who was at the rear.
Apparently, the strange raven had been perched on top of Gerald's shoulders the whole time. Everyone quickly filed in as they followed Worthy down the steps and which opened into a dark, stone hallway with only torches lighting the way. They slowed their pace on to a walk.
"So," Rollan spoke up, "Who are you, Worthy? Like under the mask I mean. Cause you sound very familiar."
"Familiar indeed," Worthy replied, "You once knew me as Devin Trunswick, son of the Earl of Trunswick who almost killed you guys back there in Eura."
"D-Devin?" Rollan stammered, "Wow, is everyone a former Conqueror?"
"Mostly," was his only reply until the hallways were engulfed into silence.
They finally entered a big room, tunnels in every side of the circular room.
"We'll rest here for a while," Devin decided and everyone sat on the floor for a while.
Just then, Sarah, summoner of Mulop the Octopus, gasped in shock and pain.
(Book four wasn't out yet when I wrote this, so in this fan-fic, Sarah summoned Mulop but not in the real series)
"Why? What's wrong?" Rollan suddenly asked in fright.
She exchanged a glance with Mulop with wide eyes, "I'm...i'm receiving some sort of message."
"Message from who?" Gerald suddenly asked.
Sarah took a deep breath as she closed her eyes to concentrate once more. She later opened them and spoke, "A message from Kovo the Ape and his summoner."

Book Promotion Recommendation
Cole Andrews, a girl who made a promise with an old childhood best friend. The only friend she had, until he suddenly left her. In school, she's was you could say one of those "mean girls" or "preps" or even "sluts." Those are lies. She is...let's say clean. But she lied to fit in the group. So the school basically hated her, what she wanted.
Then there's Kyle. A new kid who probably might not even be considered as "new" but "loner." Kyle doesn't talk much, the basic loner kid at school. Sits at the back of the class, has no friends, no one knows about him. Basically a mystery.
A popular girl who lives a lie while a lonely boy who's just a mystery. Yet they share one thing in common, "Love is just pointless."
Or is it? It's just another thing "they don't know."
Up for some romance, drama, hurt and some humor? Read Griffin-Bluestar's joint story, "What I Don't Know."
