Chapter Fourteen - A Spy

Zoron's POV

Early the next morning, they left the city and started walking on a small path towards the mountain. Zoron felt as if everyone looked distracted. Well, the girls mostly. Hope seemed to be lost in her thoughts, Irene kept looking around her, and Eilene had this distracted look. He looked over at John, wondering if he said something that upset her again but he must've noticed it too for he looked at Zoron with a confused look.

"John, did you do something?" George who also noticed it, asked.

"I didn't do anything," he replied quietly.

"Then why do they look so distracted?" Zoron asked.

"Probably worried for the journey," John said, glancing back at them.

Zoron glanced back at them as well, "Maybe we should go talk to them."

"Talk to who?" Ivan asked as both Niloans approached.

"The girls," George explained, "They look distracted."

Jef glanced at Riley and Zoey who was walking towards them, "Riley and Zoey doesn't look distracted."

"I meant Hope, Eilene and Irene," George said.

"What about them?" Zoey asked.

"They said that the girls are distracted," Ivan told her.

"Be quiet," John whispered, "They might hear you."

"Sorry," Ivan whispered back, "So what should we do?"

"We're planning on talking with them," Zoron answered.

Riley glanced at them, "They're probably worried about the journey."

"How do you know?" Jef asked.

"Cause i'm a girl?" Riley answered, raising an eyebrow.

Zoron glanced back at them. Maybe Hope looked a bit worried but Irene didn't. She kept looking around as if she was trying to look for someone. Eilene looked distracted.

"We should reassure, them," Zoron suggested, "We're a team now. So we need to start getting to know each other."

"It looked like you and Hope already know each other well," Ivan replied making Zoron blush.

"We're just friends," he insisted.

"Okay, Zoron can talk to Hope," George said, "I'll talk to Irene and John, you can talk to Eilene."

"Why do I have to talk to Eilene?" John asked.

"Why are you complaining?" George asked then walked towards Irene.

John muttered something under his breath and went to Eilene. Zoron took a deep breath and slowed down until he was walking beside Hope.

"Hey, you okay?" Zoron asked.

"What?" she said, snapping out of her thoughts, "Oh yeah, i'm fine. Why wouldn't I be fine?"

"You seemed...distracted," Zoron told her.

"Do I?" she murmured, the distracted look going back to her eyes.

"See? You're doing it again," Zoron said, breaking her thoughts.

"Sorry, I was just...thinking," Hope replied.

"Want to talk about it?" Zoron asked her.

Hope hesitated, "I'm not exactly sure but last night, I saw a figure climbing from the side of the inn. It was a girl and she looked familiar."

"Who was it?" Zoron asked, getting curious.

"I don't know," Hope replied, "but I swore she looked familiar. I just can't remember."

At the same time, Zoron heard Irene say, "The men in black cloaks looked very suspicious."

"What was she wearing?" Zoron asked Hope.

"I couldn't see clearly but she had a black hooded cloak," Hope answered.

Zoron froze, "I'm not really sure but I think we're being spied on."

John's POV

John sighed in frustration. He hadn't managed to get anything out of Eilene. She kept on insisting that she was fine until Zoron interrupted them. He told them about what Irene said about black cloaked men and then what Hope said about a girl with a black hooded cloak climbing on the side of the inn.

"Everyone, stay alert," Eric told them, "There's a chance that we might've been spied on."

He glanced at Eilene who hadn't said another word ever since. He knew something was troubling her and it made him worried. He shook his head. He didn't know why but he was getting worried for her. He wanted to help her but she kept on insisting that she was fine, even though she wasn't. He decided to try again and he walked beside her.

"I know something's wrong," John sighed, "So please, let me help you."

"I said nothing's wrong," Eilene snapped, "I don't need your help."

John sighed, "Fine, I give up."

John walked away feeling hurt that she didn't want his help. As he walked away, he felt her gaze behind him. They walked for a couple more minutes before he heard Dwayne said.

"We're here," Dwayne announced.

John looked up and saw the mountain.

Drina's POV

Last night

"Are you sure we could trust her, Derek?" Drina asked a man in black cloaks.

Two other men in black cloaks were with them. They were outside in an alley beside the inn where the Ten Keepers were staying.

"Of course we can," Derek said, "We can trust her with anything and she's my daughter."

Just then, a girl with a hooded cloak appeared around the corner.

"Look, she's here right now," he added.

The hooded girl walked towards them, "You asked for me?"

"I suppose you got my dream," Derek said with a smile.

"Listen," Drina said, "If you're going to join us, we need every single information. If you betray us, I'll kill you with my own hands."

The hooded girl looked at her for a while then spoke, "I don't plan on betraying you any sooner but there will be betraying and lots of it."

That's the end of this chapter and like she said (whoever she is) prepare for betrayal. Please vote and leave a comment on what you think. Stay tuned for the next chapters! (Yep, that's my outro. Wait, is there such thing as an outro?)
