Chapter Four - Keepers in Eura
John's POV
John couldn't believe it, he couldn't stay calm. It was finally John and his young brother, George's Nectar Ceremony. He waited another year just so he could do the Nectar Ceremony with his brother. There was a knock on his door and George burst in the room with his father.
"John hurry up," George exclaimed, "It's time for the Nectar Ceremony. I've been waiting for hours now!"
"And I've waited an extra year just to join you," John reminded him and George broke into a grin.
"Are you ready?" his father asked
"I was born ready," John answered.
His father was the Lord of their city in Eura so a huge crowd had gathered once they came out the house. He saw their Greencloak, Dila, who was talking to a male Greencloak, John has never seen before.
Probably to watch us, he thought.
Dila walked towards George.
"It is time for the Nectar Ceremony," she announced, "George, receive the Nectar of Ninani."
John watched his brother take a sip and stepped back. There was a bright light and there appeared a lynx. Everyone murmured in amazement as the lynx walked right up to George and rubbed itself on his leg. It got silent again and all eyes were trained on him. He didn't have much of a problem with that, actually he liked the attention.
"John," she spoke, "Receive the Nectar of Ninani."
John took a sip from the Nectar and tasted the most sweetest liquid, sweeter than honey. He stepped back and suddenly felt dizzy. There was another bright light and there appeared a huge wolf. The wolf walked towards him and John slowly petted him in awe, the dizziness fading.
He heard gasps of shock. John himself was shocked. He couldn't have summoned a wolf for Briggan the Wolf was a Great Beast.
The male Greencloak walked towards them and spoke, "My name is Eric and you two have just fulfilled a prophecy. Erdas needs your help."
Eilene's POV
Eilene sighed sadly. Today was her Nectar Ceremony but she couldn't even care much. She was an orphan who lived with a her aunt who doesn't even care about her. All Eilene ever did was clean the house. She did all the work while her aunt always leave the house to find some guys in the inns. She never had a friend because who would want to be friends with an orphan? She lived in a small village in Eura.
"Eilene," she groaned as she heard her aunt shout, "Get out of there. It's time for you Nectar Ceremony."
As she started walking out the door, her aunt said, "I bet a hundred percent you wouldn't summon a Spirit Animal."
Even Eilene herself seemed to agree with her. She walked to where a group of people were gathered around two more children. Unlike Eilene, they were excited for their Nectar Ceremony. Eilene spotted their Greencloak, Travis, talking to another Greencloak.
"It is time for the Nectar Ceremony," Travis announced and started saying words to the other kids.
She didn't even listen. There was a time when she really wanted to have a Spirit Animal until she had a fight with her aunt and said words that hurt Eilene deeply. As usual, neither kids summoned any Spirit Animals and were quite disappointed. It was Eilene's turn.
"Eilene," he instructed, "Receive the Nectar of Ninani."
She took a sip of the Nectar which tasted very sweet like honey. She stepped back and was about to turn around and go back home when she started feeling dizzy. Suddenly, there was a bright flash and then right in front of her, stood a large, brown grizzly bear.
Others gasped in amazement while others screamed but Eilene just stared at the bear, still registering what just happened. The bear stared back at Eilene calmly. She had never seen a bear so calm. Everyone watched curiously as Eilene slowly walked towards the bear and gently touched its head, the dizziness fading. To her surprise, not once did the bear growl.
The male Greencloak walked towards her and spoke, "My name is Eric and you have just fulfilled a prophecy. Please join us Greencloaks for Erdas needs you."
Eilene and the bear exchanged a glance before she nodded.
