Conor and Shane (Abeke) - Oh Brother
Shane and Conor. Both are kind, both have blonde hair, both (may) have a crush on a certain archer, and both are VERY protective. Abeke is SURE lucky to have them.
Doesn't matter when this takes place. Here's a Conor, Shane, and Abeke story. (Shane didn't die this time)

Metals clashed. Arrows were fired. Everyone moved on a fast pace.
The four heroes were fighting bandits as they blocked and attack. Abeke was having a bit of a struggle since she was more of an archer and preferred stealth to take down enemies by hand. Abeke raised her bow to block the bandit's attack then she elbowed him hard on the stomach, making the air puff out of him. What she didn't expect was an attack from behind.
She turned around and gasped as she saw a man about to hit her with a staff and she shut her eyes only to hear a loud clash. She looked up and saw that an axe and a sword had blocked the attack. She gasped as she recognized her saviors.
Conor gave out a growl and pushed the staff away while the other one, Shane, swiped his sword at him, slicing his arm. The man let out a yelp but they weren't going to let him go easily. Conor swiped his axe hard and high, cutting the man's staff into half as he raised it to block. Shane swiped again and this time it hit the man's leg. The man cried before hobbling away as fast as he could.
"Thanks guys," Abeke told them.
"No problem," Conor replied cheerfully.
"Anything for you," Shane said at the same time, earning a glare from Conor.
All around them, the bandits were already fleeing and she saw Meilin and Rollan walking towards them. They were headed towards a Euran village, reports of bandit invasions. After defeating the Wyrm, the four would sometimes travel to places were there seemed to be having trouble with things.
Every once in a while, Shane would join them. Rollan sometimes joked around with him and even Meilin started to warm up to him a little, much to Abeke's satisfaction. Only Conor seemed to not trust him as much but Abeke knowing Conor, she hoped that he would warm up to Shane as well and notice that he's not such a bad guy after all.
"That's the last of them," Meilin said.
"I guess our job here is done," Shane added and Abeke caught Conor shooting a glare at him.
"Let's set up camp before heading back to Greenhaven tomorrow, shall we?" Rollan suggested, letting out a yawn.

They were all setting up for camp. Shane and Conor had finished setting up their own tents while Abeke was struggling with hers.
"I'll help you," Shane offered, stepping forward.
"No, I can do that," Conor interrupted sharply, "You can go and collect firewood."
"And why should I?" Shane countered, clearly tired of trying to act nice around him, "You know the forests better."
"That's why I should be helping setting up a tent in a place where I was born and raised," Conor replied with an edge to his tone, "You know what firewood looks like."
Abeke could already tell an argument was about to happen, if not, a fight was about to happen. Before Abeke could interrupt, Meilin beat her too it, "Seriously you guys? Both of you are going to get firewood, i'm helping Abeke fix her tent."
Both of them were about to argue when Meilin snapped at them, "And don't you dare argue once more. I'm not going to listen to you guys fighting about nonsense when we just finished fighting a bunch of bandits. So stop acting like children and start being your mature selves before I make you."
Rollan let out a chuckle, "I'm glad I don't have competition."
Meilin raised an eyebrow, "Competition for what?"
"Ah nothing," he quickly said before making his tent once more.
Conor was about to say something when Meilin shot both of them a deathly glare, "What are you two still doing here?"
Without another word, the two have rushed into the forest in search of firewood. Abeke just shook her head at the whole scene, "Seriously, those two were getting on my last nerves. When are they going to start warming up to each other?"
"Probably never," Rollan replied, "Since the one sees the other as competition."
"Competition?" Abeke asked, clearly confused, "What competition?"
Rollan and Meilin exchanged an exaggerated sigh, not replying as they went back to fixing their tents.

Shane and Conor looked for firewood in tensed silence, neither making a single eye-contact or any contact at each other. Finally, Shane spoke, "Conor, I understand you don't trust me-"
"Trust you?" Conor cut in, "I don't even like you."
Shane tightened his mouth, "I understand you don't like me or trust me but we're in the same team now. We're on the same side so i'm not going to betray you guys."
"You betraying us is the least of my concerns," Conor muttered darkly.
Shane was losing his patience, knowing what the guy meant, "Okay, I get it. You like Abeke and you don't want me to steal her away from you. I understand you're jealous but i'm not going to back away. Abeke will choose who she likes so you can't force her."
At first, Conor just looked at him with his mouth agape. Then he let out a laugh, shaking his head, "You think I like her in that way? Now I feel sorry to what I've planted into that brain of yours."
Shane looked at him confused, "What do you mean?"
"Sure I like Abeke but not in that way," Conor explained, "I like her as if she was my sister. You actually thought I was jealous?" He let out another laugh.
"Then why don't you trust me?" Shane asked, still confused but a bit relieved.
"Because i'm certainly not going to easily forget what you did to Abeke," Conor had returned to his serious mood, "You broke her heart, Shane. You made her feel guilty, broken, many more things. That's something that isn't easily forgetful and easily forgiven. How am I supposed to know that you're not going to be doing it again?"
"Because...because I really do care about her," Shane replied, sighing, "I regretted many things but what I regret the most was losing my only true friend...besides my sister. What could I have done? My kingdom was suffering and my parents unexpectedly died, leaving me king in a young age."
Conor hesitated, whether or not he should believe him.
"I've done that mistake once," he went on, "And I would never make that same mistake twice. I could prove it to you that I've really changed and that I would never, ever break her heart once more. That's not a promise but an oath."
"And how could you prove it?" Conor asked skeptically.
Shane looked at him, the truth in his eyes, "Because if I do, then you can kill me yourself."

"Now, listen to me," Conor was telling Shane in a very serious tone, "You're going to be bringing her back in exactly three days, is that clear?"
"Yes," Shane replied.
"And right before the sun sets," he went on, "No more than that or i'm going to come with a fresh army of Greencloaks, is that clear?"
Shane sighed, "Yes Conor, i'll do it."
They were at Greenhaven, on the decks. Shane had invited Abeke to come over to Stetriol for they had some matters to discuss. They were already about to board while Rollan and Meilin watched the scene in amusement.
Abeke rolled her eyes, "Really Conor? Is this really necessary?"
"Of course it is," Conor exclaimed, narrowing his eyes at Shane.
Abeke sighed, "Sometimes, you act like a brother."
That's when Conor finally grinned, "That's because I am your brother. It doesn't have to be by blood you know."
Abeke rolled her eyes once more, "Oh brother."
- - -
"So...Conor doesn't really like Abeke in that way?" Rollan told Meilin who was standing beside him as they watched on, "There wasn't exactly a competition?"
"Nope," Meilin replied, "Oh, and by the way, you don't have to worry about having any competition."
"Yeah..." suddenly, his eyes widened, "Wait, what?"
Meilin only gave him a knowing-look.
