A poem from Conor

I've grown so used to it by now,
I've grown so used to seeing you,
At the cafeteria, our usual chatter,
Training side by side.

Everyday I see you,
I always see that smile,
But i'll never see that one in particular,
For someone had taken it away.

I still don't understand,
The feelings you always have,
He called himself your friend,
Only to betray you in the end.

I've always been there for you,
The first to trust you out of all,
No matter where your loyalties lie,
Not once had my trust for you wavered.

Then that trust changed,
Changed into something more,
Unfortunately for me,
I got friend-zoned instead.

I fought beside you, trusted you,
Became your friend in hopes of becoming more,
Apparently for me, I was too late,
Someone had already taken you away.

I was always there when he was not,
I became your real friend when he betrayed you,
I fought with you when he fought against you,
But there was one thing I've never done.

Now I wished things were different,
Because then, maybe I had a chance
But it's all too late now,
And worse of all, letting you go

For he was there from the start,
and he was there when he was gone.

And all i'll ever be,
Is the second to the best.

If there was one wish I could have,
I wished that I've gotten to you first.
