Shane x Reader
Another fan fiction on DeviantArt that I'm am adding onto here! Enjoy:
You walk down to Greenhaven's courtyard, which is bright with vivid color. Being early spring, flower blossoms have opened to reveal their colors, hidden through winter, and their fragrant smell is heavy in the warm air. Smiling, you take your time to walk through the colorful pathway and savor the sights, smells, and sounds around you.
Even though it had been months after the four heroes of Erdas saved everyone from the monstrous Wyrm, the celebration had still not ceased. The Redcloaks were now welcome to Greenhaven whenever they wanted, having helped stop Zerif and the Wyrm, and could usually be seen walking around with Greencloaks, chatting happily and helping move supplies to help rebuild the damaged parts of Greenhaven. Though some still wore their masks, others left theirs off, although they still bore the scars of the Bile's actions.
Sighing, your thoughts drift to one Redcloak who had also chosen not to keep his mask... one who made your heart flutter when he spoke and blush when he looked at you with his reptilian gaze...
Shane.
Even the thought of him makes you glance at your feet while your cheeks heat up. Grateful that there is no one else to see it, your thoughts continue on as you day-dream...
While strolling, dazed, through the courtyard you are oblivious to someone else passing through. Before you can react you collide into them, and you both fall. "I'm sorry!" you yell apologetically to them as you struggle to stand. You grab their arm to righten them when they turn to face you.
"S-Shane!" you stutter in surprise and embarrassment, "I'm sorry I didn't know you were-- I should have been-- I really didn't mean--" He shakes his head and then cuts you off: "Why so worried? Think I'm about to slit your throat for just walking into me?" He chuckles softly and you smile shyly back.
"Here," you say as you stand and then help him up too. Ever since the jaws of the infected Uraza had locked down onto his leg during the battle against the Wyrm, he had much difficulty with using it and in walking correctly without a limp. But as he stands up with your help, and he leans against you for support, you realize how close you both are to each other.
For a few moments you stare into each other's eyes, barely breathing. The only sounds are of the nearby birdsong and the distant chatter of others nearby, and you hope that it is enough to cover up the sound of your pounding heart.
After a few long moments, he pulls away, "(your name)," he begins as he turns to look at you again, "If you aren't busy... would you like to continue your walk with me?" You give him a friendly grin and nod in return, "Sure, I'm not doing much at the moment."
He smiles back and begins to walk down the path. You quickly catch up to him, and you awkwardly glance around at the bright colors around you. "The Greencloaks sure did well with flowering their courtyard," he says after about a minute of silence. He sighs, "It reminds me of my old home in Stetriol." At the sight of his sad eyes, you instinctively reach out for his hand, but pull away just in time. You feel yourself blush, Too much, (your name), too much...
You must have shown too much embarrassment in your expression, because a voice from beside asks, "Are you okay?" Jerking your head up quickly, you plaster on a slight smile and hope you look cheerful, "Yes, I'm fine." Shane frowns, "Really? Because for a moment you--" "I-I'm fine," your mouth clumsily mashes together an answer.
A hand brushes against your arm and the Redcloak's fingers intertwine with yours. "You sure, (your name)?" Instead of answering, you stare at the very-interesting pattern of stones on the pathway. I've really messed things up now.
Hands turns you to face the boy beside you. "Will this help?" he asks, and is that a blush working its way across his cheeks? Before you can respond, or even ponder on what he meant, Shane leans in and kisses you.
For a moment your stunned by his action, but with the strange, exhilarating feeling now flowing through you, you kiss him back. For moments you stand there, and a calmness fills the air. Then you break apart, only a blink away, and breathe in gasps.
You can see the shyness and-- could you be imagining a glint of triumph?-- in his golden eyes as he stares at you. "Better?" he whispers softly. You smile slightly, still amazed by his sudden gesture. When you don't respond, he looks guilty and begins to back away.
"No, don't go," you say. He stops. "I feel much better now." you whisper back. Rushing forward, you wrap him into a warm hug. He instantly responds to your action by hugging graciously back.
"Thank you," you say into his ear. "You're welcome," he answers.
