The conversation was stopped when the man had burst into the wall. That always was a conversation stopper.

Nathan tensed up, fear constricting his body. I can't fight this one was all his mind and body were thinking and doing. He was frozen. He watched as the world became slowed and his hearing became almost non existent.

Adrianna was gripping onto his ragged shirt as she hid behind him. Her voice was muffled to him, but it sounded like she wanted him to save them. Sam was staring at him, a knowing expression on his face. The Nobles were shocked, and attempting to use their powers. They said they were trained? Yeah right.

Nathan felt his knees shaking as the Nobles looked to him for help. Adrianna started crying, and Sam was hurrying over to help her. The man was just staring at him. Nathan crumbled to his knees. Not again.

Tears fell down his face. He couldn't do it. The man's voice rang in his mind as that fateful night banged around his mind, threatening to take over his existence again. Again.

"You will never succeed, Spirit."

"But, B-"

"I will end you...you are an abomination."

Nathan watched as the man's form seemed to spiral into itself. The black cloak leaving an evil feeling in the air. He bent his head down, and sobbed.

Nathan could feel people trying to get him up, but he simply curled himself up into a ball and sobbed even louder. Things were still slowed and his hearing was gone. A silent, slow world.

Nathan eventually closed his eyes, but was still conscious. His hearing returned and everything wasn't slow, at least, from what he could tell with his eyes shut.

"Who-no, what was that?" Ayden asked.

'Should I tell them?' Sam asked Nathan.

Nathan only sent his sobs to him, so he took it as a no. Sam only replied with "He doesn't want to tell you."

"He should." Adrianna huffed. "He was bawling on the ground."

Nathan cringed, but then returned to his silent sobs and tears. It wasn't his fault...that man had ruined his life and trust in people.

Nathan took special care when meeting new people. He was cautious, he didn't want to get too close until he was sure they were good. It was different with the Nobles. They had to be good or be stripped of their titles as Elements and the Power given to the Elements.

Nathan started to slow his breathing. He wanted to give the imitation that he was asleep, but he honestly wasn't tired anymore. He decided to move out of his own thoughts and focus more on the words they were speaking.

"Why won't you tell us? He won't know!"

"Because I'd betray my best friend! He is basically my brother! I could never betray him!"

There silence after that. He couldn't move nor speak. Nathan wanted to after that, but he couldn't. Something was constricting his body. It felt like one of those snakes he read about when he was younger. They squeezed the life out of their prey and swallowed them whole. It reminded Nathan of what was happening now. Whatever had its grip on his soul was throwing in all these things to make him feel worse, and it was working. Soon, his soul would become lifeless and it would consume it, happy to have yet another meal. He shuddered. If that was the case, then he'd have to be careful at what was being handed to him. He had to watch his back.

Nathan continued trying to move, but only succeeded in getting his breathing back up. He could hear someone move towards him. 'Nathan?' Came Sam's thoughts.

'I can't move!' Nathan cried, his body still refusing to budge.

Someone grabbed his body and lifted him up. They released their grip and his body thudded to the ground. 'Sam!' Nathan screamed.

'Sorry.' Sam said sheepishly.

"What's wrong with him?" Came Adrianna's voice. "Sam, stop manhandling him!"

Nathan could feel the blood rising into Sam's cheeks. He chuckled, and the sound escaped through the small opening from his lips.

His mind went wild. Perhaps he could actually speak. He tried again, but only managed a guttural groan. He could hear a chuckle, but he didn't know who was the one saying it. He sighed, trying not embarrass himself anymore for the day.

Adrianna was clearly worried about him, he could feel it radiating off of her. He sighed, and then attempted to tell her not to worry. His vocal chords decided not to listen, however. He made an odd gurgling sound, so gave up trying at all. Sam eventually voiced his thoughts over to him. 'You sound like an idiot.'

'Thanks, Sam. I already figured that much out.'

A chuckle sounded through Sam's mind. Nathan rolled his eyes under the protection of the eyelids. Sam laid him down gently down on one of the better beds in the house. Nathan told him not to, but Sam simply told him he needed the comfort, especially since he couldn't move.

Nathan felt his body being put in the most comfortable position thought possible for him, but he was the most uncomfortable he had ever been

He whimpered, which caused an angry snarl from somebody. "All people lay this way, right?" Came Ayden's angry, but masked in calmness, voice.

Sam chuckled. Nathan then felt himself being put into his favorite position: on his side, practically on his stomach. The pillow tucked over his shoulder and under his head. His left leg under his right at a slight angle. And his other arm over the blanket, keeping it in position. Nathan sighed, content.

"This is how Nathan sleeps." Sam said.

"And how would you know that?" Came Ashlee's voice.

"We have lived together for years, I've seen him passed out plenty of times."

Nathan felt himself slowly drifting to sleep. The position was super comfy...he was practically sinking into the mattress.

Nathan opened his eyes. As they adjusted to the light, he looked around the room. No one was with him, which made him feel slightly better. He sat up, his muscles aching.

He rubbed the back of his neck. It hurt like the Devil. He groaned as he thought back to when he had been unable to move.

He knew that man could do things, but could he freeze people's own hunks of flesh and bone?

He shook his head. He would find out eventually...intentionally or not. He sighed. He sat there pondering for a while while he sat upright in the bed. Eventually, Ayden walked in, grumbling about putting a cloth over someone without a fever. When he saw Nathan awake, his face brightened and he turned around, calling everyone in.

Nathan was bombarded with questions, and he didn't have answers for most. He ended up being able to stand up and hurry out of the room and into the hallway-which was technically an alley-and hurried into town. He looked up at the sky and saw it had to have been past noon. His stomach growled.

When he got into the town square where the fountain was, he sat on the edge, looking around at the rundown town.

It was nothing special, just an old, out of the way type of town. It didn't seem to be anything special, but it held so many dark memories that it was probably the darkest of the region. He shuddered, thinking about how many of those times had been his fault. Most for just being born.

Nathan kicked up the dirt road, and watched the wind blow it gently through the breeze. He sighed contently and then walked over to a food stand. The elderly lady saw him and grinned. She handed him a small bag of nuts, so Nathan took them, thanked her repeatedly, and walked back over to the fountain, munching down on the bag.

His happiness was short lived as his mind wandered back to the man. He felt a tear threatening to break as he sat there. The memory ran through his mind like a rampaging bull.

It was just like any night. His parents had been dead for a few months and his older brother was out working. He was one of the few people that knew about Nathan, but nine year old Nathan didn't know what he was capable of, and what would come out of him being born.

He had been in the field, picking a few tomatoes to have with dinner. When he had his bunch he worked his way to the steps of the house. Sam was standing there, grinning ear to ear. He was covered in dirt all over, and Nathan grimaced. "You need a bath." he said, his voice having not gone through puberty yet.

Sam groaned. "Like you're one to talk!"

Nathan looked down. His hands were dirty and so were his knees and parts of his shins. Nothing too bad, unlike Sam. Nathan scrunched his face up and glared at him. "Mud ball."

Sam stuck out his tongue, but allowed Nathan to prepare a bath for him. He washed his hands and shins really quickly so Sam didn't have to wait too long. Once Sam was in the bath, Nathan went to the kitchen to wash the tomatoes and start preparing the soup. As he started, his brother walked in.

He and Nathan looked nothing alike. In fact, Nathan didn't look like anyone. His brother had darker skin, bulging muscles, and light gray eyes. His hair was black and in a low ponytail. Nathan's was getting long too, but he hated having long hair.

His brother looked at him. Nathan ran over and hugged him. His head barely made it over his pelvis. "You are home, Daniel!"

Daniel chuckled, but it didn't last long. Something was bugging him, and Nathan didn't like it. When Nathan questioned it, Daniel only gave him the cold shoulder. Before things got any worse, Sam walked out, butt naked.

"Where are my clothes?" He cried, running around the house.

Daniel broke into laughter, while Nathan giggled. Sam turned towards him. "Bastard!" he said, pointing at Nathan.

Nathan fell onto his rump and rolled one the floor laughing. Daniel continued laughing, and Sam stood there, dripping wet, butt ass naked, while fuming.

Eventually, Sam was given his clothes back, and the trio sat at the dinner table, eating the soup Nathan and Daniel had made. Sam licked his lips, cleaning off the red soup mustache he gave himself from drinking the soup. He patted his stomach. "I gotta run, thanks for the food!"

Daniel smiled, but it faded away. Nathan looked at his brother worriedly. What was wrong with him?

That night, Nathan was washing his clothes. He grimaced at the dirt. He sighed, and then heard the door open. He turned around to see Daniel. "Hey, Big Brother!"

Daniel said nothing, just stared at him. Nathan began to grow worried. "D-D-Daniel?"

Daniel reached behind his back, grabbing something slowly. "Nathan...do you know what you are?"

Nathan bit his bottom lip. "Your younger b-"

"No!" Daniel screamed. "You are a wicked beast put on this land! You should never have been born! You will destroy this world of Peace we live in!"

Nathan recoiled at his brother's harsh words. He didn't understand it completely at the time, but he knew it was something bad. "But, D-"

"Spirit."

"Wh-"

"You will never succeed, Spirit."

"But B-"

"I will end you...you are an abomination."

Nathan screamed as his brother pulled out a butcher's knife. He chased him around. Nathan was crying. "Please! Don't do this Brother!"

"I have to! For the good of the world!"

Nathan screamed as he ran out into the town. People watched as Nathan ran, his now psycho brother chasing him, telling him he'd destroy the world, calling him 'Spirit', and saying he was an abomination.

Nathan ran back to the house, ready to go back inside, only for Daniel to through a homemade bomb at it, blowing up instantly, and setting the sad, worn, wooden structure on fire. Nathan fell to his knees. The one thing he still cherished other than the relationship he had with his brother. He screamed, tears still pouring out of his eyes.

His brother was about to decapitate him when some power wave surged out of Nathan, knocking his brother back. He hit a tree and slid down, unconscious.

When Nathan woke up the next morning, he was told his brother had escaped. He was offered to be adopted, but his brother's words still rang through his mind. Abomination. Impossible. Monster. Destroyer. Even if he hadn't said them directly, Nathan knew he meant those words. After that moment, Nathan was no longer a child.

He helped other struggling children with Sam. Eventually, people found out about his ability, but they didn't do the same thing Daniel had done.

They accepted him.

Nathan hadn't realized it, but he was standing in front of the old house. The ashen dirt still covered the area, but it still hurt. It had been eight years or so since that day, and he was still hating it.

The man who had come was his brother. He never left Nathan alone. Whenever he seemed to tell people about his past, he always came, ready to defeat him. Nathan had tried many different tactics, but none worked.

Nathan closed his eyes. He decided to focus more on happy things, like the villagers and everything they had done for him.

They raised him.

They loved him.

They fed him.

Clothed him.

Gave him a place to live.

Protected him from outsiders.

They accepted him.

They accepted him.

"They accepted me."

"That is all they needed to do..."

"They accepted me."
