Mike's face brightened and before I could say another word I was scooped into a hug, but, that ended just as quickly as it had started.
Mike pulled away and directed his gaze anywhere but towards me. As an ocean of red crawled up upon his face I smiled sheepishly and patted him on the shoulder, dragging him around to face me.
"Mike, we need to go and tell the others," I said, "They'll be thrilled, well I know Aaron will be, we couldn't have gotten off to a better start!"
He smiled in return and I grabbed his arm, pulling him after me as I ran through the door and made my way to the cafeteria to join Aaron and Tillie.
Unfortunately, the corridors were beginning to fill so what should have been a simple jog through the halls turned out to be a full-on workout, which consisted of dodging around people to avoid running through them.
I kept running and I didn't look back, knowing that Mike would keep up just fine, and sprinted away shouting, "Catch me if you can!"
Unfair, Ellie! Mike said somewhere in the distance. You got a head start! Oh well, you know I'll beat you anyway...
'He doesn't know me as well as he thinks,' I thought, 'And after that comment, there's no way he's getting there first.'
I picked up the pace and manoeuvred my way between the increasing number of people making their way through the corridors towards their destinations.
I focused my mind on the achievement of beating Mike, that boy needed to learn the hard way that you don't mess with Ellie Martin. What happened next was kind of ironic actually, I was so concentrated on going as fast as I could that I missed the hall that leads to the finish, I know right!
So, I turned around and darted back towards the entrance, if I keep running then I will be fine.
I'll beat him.
Haha, maybe I'll even surprise Tillie and prove a point, well, it's not like she won't see it coming.
I ran through the door and abruptly halted.
Stood, leaning against the biggest table were three people; one with a constant bored expression, another in the middle of laughing at the third's joke and the last wore a smug amused look that came with a little something called winning.
"What was that, Ellie? Oh yes, that what you call getting a beat down, I win!" Mike said, walking forward with a smirk plastered on his face.
"That's right, drink it up, Mike," I replied, smiling in return. "This won't happen again, enjoy it while it lasts."
I patted him on the shoulder and carried on walking until I was face to face with Tillie and Aaron.
"So," I said, "Has Mike told you guys yet?"
Tillie smirked and stated bluntly, "You think Mike needed to tell me anything? Seriously, Ellie, keep up."
I smiled sarcastically but I shook my head to clear all of the mean comebacks that would have been awesome but nothing is going to ruin my room, I just figured out the riddle and Tillie is not going to take this away from me.
"Did you tell Aaron?" Mike said, stepping back towards the group.
"Tell me what?" Announced Aaron.
"Oh, just that Ellie knows what to do about the riddle." Said Mike.
"What?"
