Chapter Five: Big Reveal

I've ruined him. David is no more. That's not the man I knew. That's not the man I saved. That's not the man who helped me. I was hoping for the ability to walk again, not to destroy another's life. Not to mention we were faster than lightning. What was that about?

A whirlwind of light formed in the middle of my living room. Great. Now, what do I have to deal with?

"Keith Williams," it said. "You have bent the laws of time. You must be punished."

"What happened to David?" I asked.

"He was supposed to die at 3:16 p.m on the twenty-seventh of February, 2016. You rescued him. His abilities are your punishment of your actions."

"I didn't know! What was I supposed to do, let him die!?" I asked.

"Yes. Yes, you were. You have forced the time vortex to be unbalanced. Uncontrolled. You've disrupted everything. You probably don't realize this, but the simplest of things have major impacts. The lightning strike should've killed you. The adrenaline alone should've over-worked your heart to a literal death, but I helped you. I gave you the gift of speed. Feel your heartbeat. Right now."

I held my hand to my chest, and I felt a fast beat. It like a finger rapidly tapping inside my chest.

"Run," it said. "Run to the other side of this room."

I run to the other side of the room and turn around. Paper flies everywhere slowly and I can see blurred mes running behind me. I stop moving and everything speeds up to normal time.

"You have just used your speed ability," the light told me. "It is to be used lightly. For now, though, it is to be used against David Robinson. Understood?"
I nod.

"Then goodbye."

"Wait!" I call out. "Who are you?"

The light disappears, leaving behind an engraved "G" in the ground.

G...

God.
