Chapter 4: Contrast
First light had the blond outside, out and searching around him, curious eyes and many spiralling questions flowing free within his mind. So much divergence from what he had know, persons, textures, speech and demeanour. All obscure, though far from unpleasant, smoke remained in the air- the giant pit of fire which had been now set to rest until the dusk. Though the smell was not an odour, just a restful tip of the forest hinting at his nose. He smiled for it, for in truth- he had never seen a fire- not in whole; not the blaze of colours casting themselves towards the sky. No, he had only seen the shadows, the flickering glow of colour on the tents surrounding, as he bid goodnight to himself in his. Now, he had witnessed the honest warmth they possessed, stared unto their neverending flame and delighted in the change they made. Kou had stayed with him while food was served, and though he had wished to know the woman which was Naori- she had other matters to see unto and could not join. It was a curiosity that held the blond Omega's mind, for he had not met many Alpha within his former encampment, yet he lived now in a clan where they stood in predominance. He would need to adjust quickly so as to not be inept.
There was much he had to know, learn afore himself, that knowledge which had been caged from him- basic knowings to which all persons should understand. Then further, those new truths of the clan he had committed unto himself to join, their culture, manner, ways and beliefs. Evermore, all that was, that were, that would be; he had a profane desire to learn all he might. Thus he stepped out of the shelter he had been given and stared around him, spun even to see all he could within a moment. The trees tall, with leafs so green- perhaps even bordering on yellow, the bark brown and darkened beige, the earth much the same though less defined by patterns. The sky brightened, livened with a blue coming forward underneath the fragility of a fading gentle yellow, he knew what a cloud was- though he had never seen them above, white and softened- he wondered if they would be the ideal of every man to rest their head upon, a softness unparalleled by any of humanity's attempts.
Others were rising alongside himself, but only those with Omega-sanctioned cloth, long robes with bandages around the middle waist, Naruto could only assume to halt an overflow of the fabric, the design followed with the sleeves, they were long and spread wide- lengthening after the elbow; but it was halted from dropping below the wrist by a bandage wrapping around the elbow. He noticed yet again, perhaps with a measure of discomfort, perhaps with a sigh of ease that he was indeed away from what had been; none held a weapon in a holster. Or, Naruto considered, there were, but none to be readily seen by a man unknowing.
Observing those whom left his own tent, it was fair he notice that all were young, by glance the blond could guess around his own age of thirteen cycles- to perhaps seventeen. A variety of differingskin palates, eyes and facial features, though each had considerably lengthy hair flowing long down their backs- far so more then his own. He twirled a strand or two at his neck in seeing such. To glance about, those Omega's in separate tents now emerging, were much then same as those from where he had slept, a variety of differences between each individual, they however, near all, had their hair done up- some resting a slight on their shoulders but nary never without a tie to bind them upwards in a fashion. They too were older then those where he had slept, tellings of age indicated a far more broad designation between however.
A few of those from his own tent glanced towards each other after having caught his eye- then came forward with soft smiles; that is two held a manner of gentle rapport, the latter had upon her a line- her face so stiff it was alike the crust of an oak. "Forenoon," they spoke courteous, and Naruto steeled himself, for he had too little an experience with persons to know how the winds of conversation should flow -noting a slight absently that one of their party while having, no doubt, a great amount of hair, it did not flow down her back as many, a comfort to his eyes as he did not feel so very obscure.- He smiled in turn, a grin stricken upon his face which he had scarcely held in his captivity- perhaps when only for a malicious joy; in hearing of death greeting one of his clansmen.
"Um... good morning!" His uncertainty, he was certain, showed. For they shifted in demeanour, though not unkindly- indeed a pacification rested within the subtle movements of their irises. The small smoothing of their features, and unto her whose expression was wooden, a give was given unto the bark- a curve of the lips just enough for a seeking man to see.
"You are new yes?" She held an accent behind her tone, carrying certain sounds a bit further then common- though the blond could only see kindness in her as it stood. "I am Rada," she was the one with a blonde hair which appeared to reflect the sun's shine- so light Naruto was bid to believe it provided its own luminance. Her figure was tall in addition, far moreso then many Omega he had seen- standing taller than many Alpha. As he, her eyes were a blue- though hers came to a tone to match the ice of a pond, fitted with her skin of snowfall. Beside her stood an equally tall woman, she of dark tone, that, of the darkest cherry tree with frazzled hair of black- staying true to its upwards spiking and not moving- seemingly similar to the fluff of wool, indeed, Naruto found it pleasantly similar to his own rather upstanding tight curls, though perhaps more clumped together.- "This be Ala-kun." Rada gestured with a kind gracing motion towards her accompanying tall Omega. Ala-san had deep eyes of ink, much the same as those he had seen from both Madara-san, the Patriarch and indeed Kou-san's homupowa -though Naruto knew they were of no relation. They were deep and dark eyes yes, though they lit greatly when she cast a smile his way.
Last, though hardly least, was the shortest woman, below his in stature and he knew himself small- with eyes of violet he noticed with a slight withdrawal of his step that her pupils were white and not rounded, but rather thin strips vertical towards the upper lid- but not downwards to countenance. He forced himself steady in both breath and stature, reaffirming his smile for want of kindness and not to show insult to the girl he did not yet know. Her stare countered his with intensity, lips downwards facing and skin which he knew to be far too fair- he could see veins beneath her skin- blue and creeping around underneath as if to be easily grasped by a precise hand. Translucent, and though she stood before him with poised figure and demeanour, he wondered if she ailed. Her hair was long and the shape of the most perfected sword, falling fast down her back in a curtain of black which shifted even with the rise of her chest. "This iz' Rin-kun." There was little acknowledgement save a twitch of the mysterious 'Rin's' right eyelid, granted she did not move away from her group.
"'onestly... pay no attention unto 'er, the posturing she portrays is a practised one and she 'as yet to escape from its sullen bounds, even, in truth, with myself and Rada-kun." Ala spoke, voice also with an accent although not the same and far less punctuated then that of her companion beside, her tone was teasing- a scant mocking in addition, he thought he heard. Though indeed, Ala's coy tilted lips indicated well her intent, he did not voice this, but rather offered his own small cough of amusement. With that he watched her high curled hair bounce under her movement as she inclined her head a fraction, a curious gaze with pursed lips- perfecting a confused express. "You are... ah, yes!" Her head returned upright with the exclamation. "Tha' Omega found by the river! We only 'eard a fraction, word 'as yet to spread fully." It was not meant to bring embarrassment, yet he did feel his cheeks flush for the knowledge of his arrival being so blatantly disclosed- even if, it were simply by logic it was to be known.
"I am, my name is Naruto." By expectation, he earned to polite simpers and an unimpressed stare which did not shift from its former position. They began walking once more, though it was clear he was to join their pace- he did, albeit with a nervous squirreling of his air. Obviously, the world surrounding was far different then it had been in the dark- and as he stared around in precautious uncertainty at all the scenery he had missed. A comfort around the warming air without the rain, the light around and the feeling of breeze upon his skin just as welcome as it had been yestereve- and night; welcome and fulfilling, it was rare for him to feel the wind of outdoor's freedom. Prior, when he had been servicing his motherclan it had felt as a stone thrown to the river- a moment of reprieve within the air, only with a sudden splash of reality to follow, then be taken by the water; entrapped once more by the sinking depths.
The area of their encampment was large, more so then he had expected, granted, he should have been more comprehensive of such- for even he, one sheltered, had heard of how mighty the Uchiha clan be. That said, the question tickled within his mind as an irritant he wished to slapped away; they were each so different, naturally each from a separate clan- but it was not their tones and accents that held his inquiry, rather if they all were shinobi. Those whom lived a matriarchal life or indeed a mixed clan and chosen instead to convert to a patriarchal clan, had they once been as himself? Runaways, rejected, abandoned?
"Join us Naruto-kun in 'arvesting our 'erbs. The field is not far and we shall be well protected." He nodded, it would certainly teach him much, and indeed he knew not where his presence would be wanted otherwise.
"Omega's. Frolicking in the fields this morn?" In turning behind, the young Omega found a smile brushing quickly over his mouth; there stood Madara, a simple short dark yutaka on, with a shash around the waist he gripped as a type of hand rest. A gleam glistened in his eyes, a smirk curved his lips upwards- blatant amusement obvious and welcoming- Naruto found it such an absurdity, humour and relish were not notions he often experienced in his motherclan; within this new trail he was forging there seemed to be many opportunities to be a lit by the simplistic form of happiness. "Might I join you?" He chuckled while saying so, though it sounded goodly made.
"Oh begone Madara, do zee not have foolishness to make?" He grinned then, though Naruto tilted his head with weight of confusion, silently questioning the statement.
"I do not know what you mean, I am never foolish!" Each, save Naruto himself, laughed with the statement, though with the good will settled in the atmosphere he did find his eyes closing for strength of his smile. It was a blustering ease to see such companionship so easily portrayed. "Ah, but you must struggle with my company this morn, for I have been appointed your guard for today." A collective, though none too serious groan came from each of his companions, even she whom had held herself so silent could be heard. Done in good humour for the Alpha afore them did not wilt in the slightest with the obvious barb unto his charm, in margin, Naruto stood amused by the simplicity, the ease, which such laughter came. He knew little of humour, of amusement, of laughter, to witness, to be near within a joke he was not subject of was nary soothing. New experiences to fester he knew, an anticipation resided within him to consider the many divergances from that life he had known in separation to this one, a giddiness fostered with, shown by the subtle rosen warmth to his cheeks.
Each of the Omega afore him sauntered forward a fluidity in their motions, no movement unnecessary, much as the water might move if personified. Ironic as he began to sweat with the nerves of a man diffident. He knew not what to say, nor a comprehension of how precisely one made a friend- and his tongue turned to stone in his mouth.
With the sun came a great beauty he had naught see before- from the folds of his captive's tent, he had indeed not seen true beauty, for amongst him was a scene which he could not have pictured in fantasy. Greenery, nature's wholesome touch all around- there were trees their leafs so delicate, glistening with the yellow tinge of the sun, a bustling with the simplest brush of a breeze. Their figures so overbearing above them, both foreign and possessing of a elegance which no human could imitate. A bird resting upon one tiny branch covered with blue and brown feathers its tune in sync with so many others filling the air with a song not to be matched at any moment, new with each twitter. Grass surrounded them, under and around his feet luxurious and it too, gooden with sun's rays, the droplets of condensation on each little blade shimmering in sanctum. Drops of bright colour in this new field they entered tall and short standing flowers about, pink, white, orange, horrid red, purple and blue, so many amongst the contrasting green landscape. From the speckled white and black bark to the dark brown keeping balance within the brightening beauty enshrined all around, necessary and just as lovely within its own manner. The brightened blue of the sky, so vast and sweeping, bold with its fluffed clouds floating along as if an innocence overhead.
Standing under, around, surrounded, all this which he had only ever imagined, the wonder in mind in heart- all the scenery blurred in a meshing of colour that lost none of its majesty, as he cried. Overwhelmed, jocund, marvelled, he fell to his knees in a fit of instability, hands holding the sob of a man denied too long of freedom, hands cupped to contain all the emotion- a vibration over his fingers, of his body, breathing, knees, shoulders and eyes all too extreme. As his eyes welcomed back the sight not having told him they'd closed, he saw a sway of colour before lines came to form Madara crouching in front of him. In truth, it was not comprehensable unto the blond; his expression, a brain not yet ready for such understandings. Though in looking into midnight eyes with those of mid-day -perhaps- brought a silent ken unto one of them. A breeze blew heavy around without a care for wet cheeks, grass swayed with it, leaves flew within, the clouds moved on and through no cognize of his own; Naruto grinned and within the nightide there shone a new star.
"Naruto-chan you ail?" With clear vision then, both boys stood up and one scratching at the back of his neck- the tingle of embarrassment ringing against his skin there. Three omega women staring at him, each -unto Naruto's mind- a sight of nature's diversity, concern lingering with questioning eyes, one observing -a question through narrowed lids and reflected in tightened lips. With a crippling inside his mouth spoke a pladitude, as a blunt blade so worn one without sight would feel its edge and not recognize it to be a weapon at all. For it was an ease unto himself to pretend he could not feel the tip of the sword prodding, so curious, at his throat. He spoke of being within his former clan's camp working, no reprieve, and that he had not the opportunity to go out in the day for many weeks; it spoke not of his entrapment, of of his ousting within. Just a longing to be outside of the camp, no lie, a smoothening.
Those whom smiled nodded with the basic clarity, while she who did not- her gaze strayed from evaluating to disinterest, though it still rested upon him with an intimidation Naruto was determined to brush away from mind.
"I shall take watch Omega, do enjoy your frolic with thy flora." Ala's mouth twisted with a clear repressed amusement.
"An Uchi'a laughing at flora? Yours kin are the least to make taunt." Rada, even Rin's shoulders shook with a quiet laughter while Madara jumped into the trees with a small wave, neither a protest nor an agreement. Naruto in ignorance found the departure odd, were he an escort would he not follow their path near? Certainly, Naruto knew he had maintained his own guard within the boundaries of his imprisonment. Their shadow frequently showed through the thin walls of the tent in a rather stifling display of continual presence. Those charged with his 'security' scarcely left without granted leave, was Madara so quick to defy his duty? As the others paid no rapid attention to the departure he allowed his mind to divert, looking to his fellows with the question of how to proceed clear in jovial sky irises.
"Despite Madara's words we 'ave ventured 'ere for 'erbs of 'ealing." Spoke Ala with a indignant tilt of her chin. Naruto nodded, eager as he had been since the invitation, to learn. Indeed intrigued by Ala-san and Rada-san's interesting infractions in their wording. They had accents which he had never before heard, not a surprise as he did not speak to many in his imprisonment. Indeed, he found it refreshing to hear a difference. At that, he was curious to hear Rin speak- vpondering if she too had a divergent tone and way to her words.
Rada gestured him to her side with a fierce, far too sharp motion unbefitting of a casual conversation, internally he lingered on the thought that she may have sliced through the air. Nevertheless he joined her in a crouch next to a bushel of browning leafs, whitened roots portuding a slight from the ground underneath. Pulling from within her sleeve the pale Omega displayed a simple blade possessing a serrated edge long a thin blade. Naruto regarded the way she pulled at the root slightly then cut upwards where its curve left the dirt. Then passed it to him to hold.
"'Zis be bai shou, it iz for blood flow 'nd pain mostzly." He nodded, focusing intently on the plant on the root in hand. Rada continued to gather further pieces, a stern express painted over her visage. "What clan ze from Naruto-kun?" The twitch of muscle he gave in turn was unintended, though ignored as ice eyes stared only at the flora.
His words became mutterings, no pride shadowing his words. "I don't know." A lie, he did, though it was a topic to avoid in his mind and soul, mouth rejecting the crimson taste of the knowledge. A pierce came from an icicle for his inpertantant response, though no reprimand came forth, fingers which had briefly stopped their plucking continued. "What about you?" Truly the blond expected no answer, he had no right to ask with his own lack of words.
"Ze Furawāzu Clan, we 're from ze cliffs of Sora in ze northz- to ze east. Ma clan 'ave been alliez of ze Uchiha for generaztionz, over two hundred yerrz." Naruto knew little of the concept of allies, he had no true experience. His teachings within his small cramping tent had been basic in nature, necessary understandings those which his birth clan felt he need know. Alliances and their concepts was not a topic they had touched upon- though they may have latter, the implication seemed a fraction obvious at least. In his knowledge however, he was more then aware that two centuries was a long time, did that mean a long standing friendship of sorts? Was that the meaning of the term? Still he found the name interesting. He grinned for it too- flowers were beauticious- for all he could see at the moment, for all those he had ground into medicines under his motherclan's teachings, they on occasion were seemingly the only pieces of colour which had not been stained red.
In glancing to the field before him, gaze sweeping over the other two busy made Omega's standing near with their chosen gatherings, their contrast. Therien his own within their grouping, within the sun and grassy valley before him. People and nature. He grinned in joviality.
