Chapter 2: Touching The New
For many minutes of a resolute and undisturbed pace, an itch began under the skin in response to the dreadful silence echoing its cry. A crawl amongst his instincts- for though he knew well the value of remaining quiet, not opening your mouth for any reason but compliance- the irritation of doing so had never truly wanned. Momentarily his fingers twined together, the vague motion underneath the night sky got the other boy's attention, though only by a mere flickering of his irises in meager glance. No comment was made, much as Naruto expected, for even while highly naive of shinobi, he was not ignorant enough to misconcieve the situation he had put himself in. He was both valuable and dangerous unto the other; valuable as an Omega, dangerous as an unknown. There was no ire to the thought, his clan had considered him minacous and thus locked him within imprisonment in fear; as it were, he was being seen with caution because the boy beside him did not know him. Which Naruto contrived as far better then how his kin had viewed him.
"Um... May I know your name?" Simple enough, though a hint precarious for those within war clans- with the looming possiblity of information being exposed or becoming a target. Under circumstance however, the young Omega felt it appropriate, as his intention was to join a clan he did not know- a fractional amount of information was warneted. The grass brushing underneath and around his feet turned cold as his senses honed in on anything insignificant, his apprehension so prominent, it stuffled his aura with nerves. Indeed, incessant as further minutes possessed and no words came from the shinobi beside him, nor a grunt of acknowledgement, or a glance of the eye. In fact, he had taken a rather defensive posture, the dark swarmed and Naruto could only see the silhouette in truth, he knew that his arms were crossed.
The glimmer over the trees soon became obvious as light began to filter through between the leafs. With it came Naruto's heave of relief, his quivering settling slightly with the sun's warming welcome. Night held no particular distinction, and he had no fear for it- as it would forever remain a part of day, however, much more could hide within its blanket of obstruction- that fact made Naruto wary of the hours thereinlain. Light also brought better vision, and though he was cautious in his movement, he still bid himself to see the boy he had agreed to accompany. It rained no surprise down upon him to see that he was made of rather calm tones, hair the shade of water under the moon- flashing with strands of indigo interwoven. He had pale skin with a slight glow of warm colouring hinting hidden beneath the surface. He could feel his lips prickle upwards as his assumption was proved, but then attention was upon him instead; fathomless black eyes staring at him in scutinany. Those same eyes blinked rapidly at him soonthereafter, Naruto felt the blossoming of pink shine over his cheeks at the intensity portrayed- even if it was not truly intended to be so. He did manage to note the very obvious indents under the dark eyes. Still, he squirmed with such a gaze implanted upon him- and had yet to flicker away.
"You're blond." Instantly, embarrassment fled, leaking fast from his toes, his body instead of shifting with jitters, suddenly stilling. Pressure weighing invisible on this shoulders. For it was true, candid and blunt spoken plain, and the sting from his arm in memory dimmed with the statement. Without proper consideration, his head dipped in shame, remembrance striking deep into his abdomen; his clan had always made it overt that he was inferior for a cause he never knew, but his peculiar colouring had been an additive for their ridicule and satire. Absently, his fingers played with an astray strand a slight longer then its counterparts. "I- I don't mean that's a bad thing! It just- just- surprised me!" Head snapped upwards at the sentence, shock clammoring in a body newly abrimmed with hesitant hope. Irises staring deep into the depthless ones before him- not paying heed to the new dusting of pink over the other's cheeks. As he searched for indication of a lie, that flush brightened, and then those eyes moved over to the treeline. "It's really pretty candidly- befits your eyes." Naruto felt his frame twitch under the words, a delicate smile shifting upwards, his fingers suddenly twitching as his eyes found the ground suddenly intriguing.
"My eyes?..." Were it a different circumstance, Naruto knew he would have slammed a fist into his own face for acting so demure.
"Well... yes, they remind me of the shoreline when we were fighting near the coast. The water was so clear, it sparkled, radiant under the light of the sun, a shimmering blue. Fact beeth; I spent many unbroken days merely staring to the waves, tepid or rathful in their majesty, both beautiful- though it was the shade that kept my attention. As it changed with the flow of the water, deepened twilight with the waves, the suns sweet blue as it touches the sky, all swirling together so naturally, such as your iris." Lips frozen from decturious words, a stun onto his body more empowered then any jutsu, in complete opposition- Naruto could not form a sentence by any measure of elegance or poise as his companion just had. Indeed; because he had never before experienced the thrill of a compliment, a foreign swarm of glee filled his mind, and thus spilled into his smile, timidity foregone. Be it odd that the most eulogizing thing said to him was spoken by the pale lips of a boy he had met not a day ago? Unquestionably. Did that marginalize the blissful sensation of validity and irrational joviality spawning into the blond's head?- No, it did not. Perhaps that fact made the words far more impactful then if they were from a mouth he knew.
For many moments, his lips could not function, it was by luck he did not stammer forth in his common wrought inelegance and embrace the man. Instead, he held himself a fraction more straightened then he was accustomed to, an attempt at confidence and dignity he was not particularly certain he possessed at the time. "I am Naruto." He avoided his clan name, it would be impolitic to do so, gain him suspicion because of his name; and in all candour, he was renouncing the title all together, he had no wish to bare their kamon, his given name would suit fine. He was met with a miniscule smirk, a minor twitch upwards at the corner of his saviour's mouth, yet it changed his entire expression.
"Madara." Oceanic eyes blinked, for while he had opened himself a slight to the man, he had not expected the same, it made him smile however. A tentative strain of trust was in creation, and he had never held one before. "We are just outside of the camp now." Eagerly, he nodded, already prepared for what awaited, marginally hopeful that the new clan might not think his existence entirely grotesque. That is, if they were as comprehensive as their son seemingly was- though he could hold no true, unrealistic, expectations; a shadowed light overlaying his emotions brightened enough to be felt. However, the further they traversed- rather, the nearer they became, it were as if the air turned marginally colder, just a slightened dimming of warmth, enough to grasp notice but not concerning for true apprehension to form by any passerby. Still, Naruto's muscles tensed minorly in response to his confusion. That was; until he was unable to ignore a rather large shifting of the leafs nearby, so obviously intentional, he cast his eyes in that direction without fright of attack. Madara did not, either feigning ignorance or simply uncaring for the change, regardless the blond moved himself a slight closer to his companion- bolster or not, he was not a capable fighter.
Within seconds they two figures were ahead of them without the slightest sound made, not even the shifting of pebbles could be heard from their motions. Standing proud with the tilt of their chins upwards, intimidating as their bodies stood in ready battlestance without the need for drawing their weapons. They were merely silhouettes to cerulean eyes, but the effect remained. "Madara, care to offer explanation?" One voice, baritone, yet eversoslightly tilted to a softer impression; it gave little ease to the discomforted Omega, what did was the fact that they were seemingly acquainted with Madara; and being as they were allegedly close to their camp- he could only assume they were his saviours kin.
"He is an Omega I met at the river, a very impressive one, his healing ability is- incredible. I would recommend we not speak of his traits out of the camp, candidly; the Patriarch must know directly." It was so boldly stated- in his conditioning Naruto feared retaliation from the senior shinobi; yet no chastisement occurred and they simply turned without word, brushing away some idle bushes to reveal a flourishing encampment. It the sun was cresting upward by the sight of a lightened blue tinting the sky, the trees were in a circle around the camp not covering the growing light as the forest so did. Naruto found himself drawing breath for the vision it was, the crisp air a surprise to his lungs, yet he gave it no mind as he gazed about himself; it stood to reason, as he had hardly ever seen his previous clan's way of living- a new one was strange, and wonderful for its difference to what little he had seen. There was a large bonfire in the centre of the camp where a hunt was being slowly roasted, minimal cloth was strawn over pieces of -clearly- scavenged wood forming small shelters, cloth resting on the earth as padding for sleep. Many persons were walking peaceful amongst each other, casual words being exchanged- naturally, the occasional gaze was cast their way, but there was no hostility resting prominent, even with a unknown person entering.
They were then led deeper within, wherein the Omegas within were far more in number, all wearing thinner clothing then their counterparts. There was no battle armour dawning their backs, nor weapons ready within holsters. All clothed instead with simple wrappings of darkened tones and light fabric which swept about even within the wind's most gentle touch. There was an occasional child about, however, with his presence, it was obvious that their mothers were attempting to keep his gaze away; thus, Naruto shifted his focus afore to ease discomfort- indeed, his own uncertainty. Especially when they approached a larger tent with two individuals, one an Omega with high held navy toned hair, ivory skin and stern held eyes that impeached upon him as they came near. The Alpha beside her was considerably large- that is the tallest Naruto had ever witnessed -though in considerance with a sheltered upbringing, he had yet to see many.- The man had several strained lines maring his face and even some outstanding minor scars in places. Whence he turned to face their small grouping the one he had been conversing with gave a slight bow and left without further word. Strawn tight as a bowstring the blond could not fathom a proper explanation nor introduction of himself, none that possessed no possibility of an illspoken sentence at least. So, impolite, his lips shut firm.
Madara was within no such discomfort, as his chin tilted high to look into the eyes of the tall Alpha -though Naruto held suspect that it was also from either defiance or pride.- In standing across from the adult and beside his saviour, he was distinctly aware of the small challenge of power between both, and shuffled his feet ever so slightly in discomfort for the atmosphere it made. "Patriarch, he is an Omega I met by the riverside, he had been ambushed by a small group of bandits- hardly able to hold his own despite their lacking abilities-" Automatically, a pout formed from the blunt statement, easily formed as an insult, but he was careful to cast his gaze to the ground and not implicatingly towards his companion. "I rescued him yes, however, he is a runaway from his own clan- or at least he was attempting such." An eyebrow raised questioningly on the man, lips twitching in what Naruto could only presume meant curiosity. "They had placed a tracking mark upon him, but by rationality, I do not believe it to be one willingly placed." A frown formed on the woman beside, already narrowed eyes squinting in obvious suspicion, and though he had no want to look infavourably- the snort she let through her nose was not hidden. Had he stepped back as he newly wished to; Naruto would have missed the light glare cast to the woman by Madara. "In lue of potential discovery, I watched him bite into his own flesh and tare away the muscle possessing the seal."
In staring upon the persons afore him imploringly for belief and acceptance, he was met with plain shock upon the man and woman; though the Alpha composed himself far faster as his irises flickered quickly between the young Alpha who had told the tale and Naruto beside, disconcertingly with taught brow and thin lips, those fine lines making more prominent in the strain of his express. While beside, she with the skeptical stance stared upon him, not entirely with distrust, but discomfort- eyes held over him as if she might smash him into the earth with the power of her gaze alone. He felt his own fists clench, unwise, by his sides at the familiar expression hovering above him- gritting his teeth for all the slime covering his skin from the mere stare she bore down. It held no impact in truth, but cerulean irises met her prominent black, with a glare. That is until his arm was abruptly taken into a large hand and his sleeve pushed upwards, rather surprised at the sudden pull, he looked onto the mans face as he seemingly evaluated his tan skin, scarred fingers brushing at the exact place his seal had damned him.
"That is incredible." It was made as both whisper and profound statement, Madara scoffed for the words, a lofty smirk and arrogant eyes firmly painted onto his visage. "He will indeed be a spectacular addition to the clan." The man straightened, unusually delicately moving his downwards instead of merely dropping it. Then Naruto found himself the main point of attention. "Is this condition genetic?" He shifted for the question, he could not say it was, after all he had been the only contained by his clan- none other; he had to assume it was only he who possessed the disfigurement. However, his mouth remained clamped shut, and had to force his head to nod- nervous that they might not want him if his talent could not be passed on -for it was quite plain, that by injoining himself to such a clan he would be expected to bare children as any Patriarchal clan, thus, genetic ability was an important factor.- He glimpsed to Madara near, yet gained no comfort for the young Alpha's expression had turned plain. Then as the Patriarch let lose a hefty sigh, and Naruto stepped a slight backwards-
"Regardless, he will be a good addition to the clan I am certain." A sparkle of something warmed under his skin at the unexpected endorsement.
"Indeed. Go get him settled Madara." The man waved his hand in dismissal, and Naruto found himself smiling, gladdened at the acceptance. Even allowing himself to grin at Madara, whom, much to his own surprise; smiled back with genuine kindness. Though, he still wavered as he was gestured to follow, he knew nye nothing of the clan he was joining, nor what circumstances would be brought to bare with his decision- it still remained however, that being within the protection of a group was far more appealing then drifting unknowing throughout the violent forests. Though, in a passing observation, and under the marginal comfort of having been accepted; he took in more clearly the fact that all surrounding bore a red and white kamon on their backs, prominent and bold- an obvious sign of pride in their heritage. They were quite clearly an organized clan, and Naruto knew he should have been curious as to who they were prior to joining -but the situation hadn't permitted such ponderance.- As it were, he was strongly doubtful he would recognize their family name.
"Ne Madara-kun?" It hardly mattered as it was, yet the want to know was scraping fierce at the back quarter of his brain, so he pult into a lean close to his companion. "What is the clan name? I didn't ask." The question earned him a rather sudden blackened gaze baring into his eyes, wide-eyed and shocked, blinking rapidly.
"You don't know?" He could forge a theory; as only the more influential clans bothered to bare a kamon, naturally, as the sight of identification would provoke slaughter unto the lesser established families. Even so, he had not known of many predominant clans having never been taught outside of vindictive or speculative whispers in the distance, and not one piece of information had been spoken in direct to his face. Candidly it was a slight shameful, and he bit his lip under the prolonging weight of that embarrassment weighing down both his shoulders and stomach. Then, by all unexpected responses- there was laughter by his side, and as he turned to face the source he was met with a grin, one that created dimples and forced eyelids closed. "Well you would be the first!" Then, a prikle of melancholy visited his companion's face just before he looked away to the edge of the camp. He didn't make move to speak, and within the boundaries of discomfort, Naruto found himself unwilling to break the brittle sword of silence wedged inbetween them. Whence they reached the main area of the encampment- one which he had not truly walk amongst while entering. It was made predominantly of sleeping inclosements -that is a large piece of fabric hung with tie upon large sticks- he had seen the same further out, so in uneducated mentality he questioned the large grouping.
Madara made gesture, not focusing on one place but the space in itself. "This is a sleeping area for those too young to battle and our Omegas." An itch came to the back of his neck, unpleasant and irritating, at the words. He stuffled it with a ruffle of his hair; it had been his decision to join this clan, and he had been told that it was Patriarchal, he could expect such a situation. Thus instead of letting his opinion sway his action, and stared at Madara awaiting some sort of answer to his well-taken question, for though he had seemed disheartened for a stray few heartbeats, he had also been pleased. By the flicker of molten stone irises, it was clear that the man aside him had seen his peering gaze- that along with the slight sheen of sweat forming upon pale brow. Then there was a very loud, quite dramatized sigh gasping out of the dark man's mouth.
"We have a reputation, so I do not want you to be dissuaded by others' perceptions of us." There, the branch snapped, an echoing sound within the grasp of a bellowing wind, as Naruto found himself faced with a dimmed expression. Cut, from any type of levity and a gaze encroaching, evaluating every breath his chest made. "This is the Uchiha clan." The dirt scuffled behind his foot as it shifted away, crushing fear clasping down as a boulder unto his body, dominating dread screaming louder then a wolf's howl in his ears. Moments had him frozen with frosted-over limbs, watching as just in front of him he was faced with an expression as still as the ground beneath his iced feet; cold in the same way. True fright had come to him with the power of instinct, no rationale forthcoming in his immediate thoughts. Then it flowed into his head as a trickle of water in a stream; his own clan had made frightful tales of the Uchiha clan, vicious atrocities, cruelties even edging upon the needed boundaries of survival, those whispers outside had echoed in his head and left an imprint. Fear sprung fast, but he had no bases for it to truly exist within his mind- he had no experience with their clan. Furthering that lacking comprehension was that which he did know with certainty; his clan had seen fit to imprision him, while the Uchiha Patriarch -despite his unique ability- and not seen fit to trap him -yet, and Madara had been kind, not degrading, as his former kin had been.
He stepped forward once more, limbs defrosted and corrupted thoughts untangling, not forced, a delicate simper forged onto his lips in a type of apology he did not know how to utilize properly. A nervous jitter to his movements as an itch on his neck formed, the tickle of his hair suddenly prominent, weight settling in his stomach from his abrupt response. He had been unjust in measuring a clan which had so far been accommodating with suspicion and fright, it nipped at his consciousness. "Um... sorry about that Madara-kun, I just heard some things before so I-" A simple hand interrupted his mess of unthought words, and he stopped mid-sound.
"We have a lot of rumours about us, I know, most are false. No doubt you would have heard some from your clan, they run as fire surrounding, though just as a flame they do have benefits." Naruto blinked to the knowledge provided, not understanding in all mind what could be valuable in having untruths spread about- would it not be disheartening? Thus he stared in place of asking for an explanation and was met with a smirk. "Those who are wary of such canard will stray away from confrontation with us, and therein less needless bloodshed will occur." There he smiled wide, closed-eyed and pleased- joyful at the thought. It made cobalt irises stare momentarily, without a blink for the amount of emotion poured into the expression his saviour portrayed, inspiring even as he was fully comprehensive of what their world was- and contradictory onto that ideology. Perhaps it was only a second of the sight, but Naruto was certain it had integrated into his memory.
