Chapter 1: Heroes Unite

Forever emancipated, never entombed - you fell more and more.

What felt like a fall to your ending demise, ended up with dreading silence. There was no solid impact nor crushing noise of your bones. In fact, it seemed you were solid in one place. "Huh..? What just happened!?"

You opened your eyes in shock, your fear of the unknown woke you up in a self-conscious instinct, telling you to be more aware of the foreign surroundings. Blackness came with such completeness it obliterated the memory of the day that you just had earlier at school. Only bleach rocky hills with the darkest sky swirled in your vision - you definitely weren't in the storage room anymore.

"Susie? Kris?!" - You walked around while dusting off the dirt from your outfit - which, by the way, wasn't the actual outfit that you had during the daytime. They were a completely different set of clothing. "What in the world... I don't have time, I need to find Susie and Kris."

Although you felt like a magical school-girl in your current outfit, you brain shouted you two move and find the two teenagers. Your lack of understanding how you got here and how can such an enormous barren wasteland exist inside the school's storage room - was beyond your fathoming. Either way, You had one goal in mind: find Susie and Kris.

"Susie? Kris? Are you two here?" - almost sprinting to the path presented to you, you noticed footprints on the floor: Big ones and small ones. Undoubtedly it must be the two children that you're searching. "I sure hope that's them, that'll lead me."

Without further ado, you ran towards their direction.

The cobblestones were dusty and cold from the emptiness, casting a loud echo from the Human's and the Monster's footsteps. Susie and Kris were walking aimlessly and bamboozled as ever. They have been fairly surprised to find themselves in this odd reality, but they had to search for an exit. Luckily for them, they've managed to sneakily avoid the queer-looking monster-beings that they've stumbled upon during their searches.

However, that didn't ease their task. Susie was incredibly uncooperative while Kris was the silent and slow kid that he is. Unfortunately, that duo couldn't work together as it would result in Susie running off, or Kris being left to defend themselves on their own. Either way, The teens managed to reach to wherever their eyes went, their surroundings were enveloped by what seems to be a desolated village with neon blue colors and a stone castle.

"A castle?" - Susie mumbled totally unimpressed "Why the hell is there a castle inside a slupy closet?"

The moment their feet stepped on the stairs of the said building, a gentle voice descended from around them, welcoming to this empty barren. - "Welcome, Heroes."

Kris and Susie stood in trepidation - "Who's there?!"

"Do not be alarmed... I'm not your enemy." - the voice reassured calmly "Please come forward, both of you."

Having nothing better to do, they both shrugged and climbed the stairs that led them into the heart of an empty castle.

"Welcome. I'm the prince of this kingdom." - A mysterious cloaked figure was presented in front of them. They were relatively short and it was difficult to identify their facial features behind the dark shadow that their cloak casts upon them. "The kingdom of Darkness."

"Uhuh."

"Kris, Susie - there's a legend in this land. A Legend that one day, three heroes of Light will arrive, and fulfill the ancient prophecy, foretold by time and space. Please... listen to my tale."

Kris tried to nod but Susie forbid him - "Nah."

"Very well, Once upon a-... wait, umm, r-really?" - Stuttered the stranger, this time unsure of how to behave "Are you sure? It's fairly important. And in my opinion - it's a really nice prophecy.

But Susie was getting impatience. Just when she thought that she was pretty 'edgy' - all those silly stories about a 'world of darkness' were unnecessarily absurd - "Look, dude, we didn't come here for a bedtime story. Could you perhaps know how to get out of here? Is there an emergency exit or...?"

"You see, the easiest way would be to restore the balance between the world of Darkness and Lightness to seal the Eastern fountain."

"Fountain? You mean, uh, like the water bubbler or something?"

"Um, are you sure you actually know the legend?"

"You see..." - Susie smiled while Kris awkwardly fiddled with his hands - "No."

"But I think I've got enough info. See ya two later."

"Wait let me at least-"

The cloaked figure seemed extremely abashed as they wanted to confirm that this prophecy was no joke, but alas another new character busted in. A loud screeching followed by messed up hot-wheel tire and an animated 'epic explosion' knocked the poor cloaked figure out of the scene.

"Ho Ho Ho! One nerd down - two to go!" - this screechy voice belonged to, what looked like, a kid in his bicycle with a giant Spade insignia on his face instead of eyes. Kris was beyond just confused.

"Who the hell are you?" - shouted Susie, baffled.

His character composition was something of a shorty chubby frame and blue color motif. His mischievous expression was highly effective with that blue tongue of his. Either way, he seemed very proud of his grand debut by showing with his pedals.

"I'm..." - he did a small trick on his bike "The bad gu- BHAAA!"

"Kris! Susie!" - But alas, the lad's motto wasn't meant to be heard as another 'epic explosion' threw him off the wall. But this time it was no bike or clowney character - it was you. You wrecked the poor kid out of your way the moment your eyes landed on Susie's and Kris' figure from afar. (Some may even agree that the Monster-kid was yeeted)

"Thank goodness, I found you two!" - caressing them in a worrisome hug, you felt relief and joy to locate them. You glanced at them, the corners of your lips fighting a smile, your eyebrows slightly raised "Are you two alright? You're not hurt, are you?"

For the first time in a while, Kris demonstrated somewhat of an emotion - surprise. He sure didn't expect you here, but he was more than happy to see someone he called a "friend" to care about his well-being. Susie, on the other hand, was the complete opposite.

"M-m-MISS (Y/n)?" - she backed away from your unexpected hug rather harshly "Out of all people to be here - it's the COUNSELOR?!"

"I'm glad to see you too, Susie." - you responded.

"What is going on over here? Is this a joke?!"

For the well-built female, everything was going too fast. First, a mysterious world generated within the storage room at school, then a mysterious figure tells her she's a hero? And there's a random kid who got knocked over from his bike by Miss (L/n)? The counselor out of everyone? The same one and only counselor who may decide her fate if she's staying at school or getting expelled once and for all. Fate was going against the bewilderment Susie.

-"Now that you're all alright, we may search together for an exit... Kris, tell me h-"

"Ugh! I'm not sticking to that. First I'm assigned with Kris, got somehow in here, and now Miss (L/n)? You all can stick around, but I'd do something useful and get out of here!"

But before you and Kris could call for her, she dashed off. You sighed in despair.

"Well, that can't be good. But at least you're alright Kris, I was sick worried!" - you felt a tug on your arm, seeing how Kris was trying to talk to you. You crouched down to the kid's height, making sure they're alright. Their dark hair furled down the nape of their neck while their fringe covered the front lobe, going a little past their eyebrows. Their eyes were bold, black, like that of a child. And yet they carried this stubborn remedy to see you. "It's good to see you too, boy. So tell me, How did you two get here...?"

How questionably odd it was to see the brown-haired child in a knightly armor rather than their iconic green striped sweater. You didn't have time for interrogation - you were glad to find Kris, that all that mattered. You couldn't deny how much Kris resembled your younger sibling - especially when they were in their green sweater. Either way, Kris quietly told about their previous whereabouts that occurred before your arrival.

"Yeah, Alphys told me that you two went to get some chalk... Huh? Thrown in here? Well, guess who fell afterward" - You smiled while Kris spoke "Monsters? I didn't see anyone yet... um, a person was talking to you two before?"

"Um, uh - excuse me, Kris must be talking about me." - a calm yet trembling voice called out from behind you innocently. Once you turned, you were met with an equally shorter figure, no longer than Kris' height. Judging by their steps and voice - you guessed that they must be the same age as Kris and Susie. "I apologize, I didn't introduce myself... uh, things were not going as smoothly as I expected."

"Well, Hello there." - You stood up next to Kris "Who you might be?"

"My name is Ralsei! It's an honor to meet you..." - At last, the figure pulled out their cape to reveal a pastel-green hat that resembled a wizard's hat. Their oversized scarf still covered most of their facial features but you could still notice their gleaming virtuous eyes and round glasses.

"Ralsei," - you pronounced his name "What an exotic name. It's nice to meet you as well!"

"You must be the third Hero! The Guardian!"

"A... what now?"

You now felt embarrassed as you had no idea what was going on around you. Luckily, the first stranger from this Dark and mysterious world was kind enough to reassure you that everything was hunky-dory. Well, as 'hunky-dory' as it could get. Ralsei had to reveal to you and Kris about The Legend of Delta Heros - a human, a monster, a Darkner and a Guardian to protect them. He told you of a story of Magic and of Adventure. How you four shall shift the fate of the world of Light and Dark.

But your mind was a storm. The sheer excitement and fear of this mysterious world made you too busy to think on smaller details and the philosophy behind the Prophecy. "So, our main destination is towards that Dark City with the fountain, you said?"

"Indeed! You, me, Kris and Susie must all stick together to reach the fountain - there would be a lot of obstacles and puzzles in front of us. But as long as we work together, we'll manage everything!"

"That's very cooperative of you to help us." - you smiled once more, rethinking about how you can get home to school and end your shift earlier. That thought made you rather determined "What do you think Kris?"

"Hey! Not so fast!" - The same child with a Spade on his round face popped-up, this time his bike is nowhere to be seen. "You clowns want to seal our fountain? Save the world of eternal darkness? Not to mention - You even broke my bike!"

"What bike?" - asked dumbfoundedly before Kris pointed you towards the broken bike that now lay miserably on the ground. It seemed that your physical force knocked this Monster so hard that you even managed to wreck his bike. Brutal. "Ah. ok."

"Don't try to deny it! We all know you'll go to the East towards the city that is your only way home!"

"East? Ah, thank you." - you said to the young fella before turning to the so-called 'delta warriors' - "Kris, Ralsei we may start going now."

"No, wait!" - the boy tried to stop you three - "I, Lancer, won't let you go there! I have a pla-... Wait, guys, where are you going?!"

But you all already left not minding his villainous monologuing.

So our main cast of character already met. Kris is referred to as They. (You have no bloody idea how many times did I accidentally write Frisk instead of Kris lol)

Also, it's up to you to decide what outfit you're wearing, since I'm not the kind of writer who would make you have a cringy anime pic labeled as "you".
