In Italy

We finally made it. Venice, Italy.

It was as beautiful as the last time I was here, although I couldn't really enjoy it much since Lance and I were on a mission. Now, we were riding on a speedboat, with Lance driving.

I noticed Walter's fascinated expression, and smiled. "First time in Venice?" I asked. He looked towards me. "First time anywhere really." He looked away again, admiring our surroundings as he said, "Its always been my dream to come here and feed the pigeons."

"You need help." Lance stated as he drove. Walter and I laughed. God he has such a nice laugh.

If I was being perfectly honest with myself, everything about him was nice. He has nice looks, an amazing personality, he's insanely smart... what's not to like? He's incredible. It made me wonder why he didn't have a girlfriend. It's not like the Agency was against relationships, and sometimes even encouraged them so that people wouldn't go crazy with the stress of work.

But I guess it's not my business.

We came up to the Agency Vault. It's where the list of Agents that Robohand needed would be kept. We got off the boat. "You remember the plan?" Lance as asked Walter.

"What plan? You said, 'stay out of the way and let me kick some a-"

"Good. You remember." I said, smiling.

Suddenly, at least 20 guns were pointed in our direction. Walter and Lance raised their hands (and wings?) in the air. I froze.

"Long way from home, Walter. Nice to see you Rivera."

Standing there with a mini army backing her up was Marcy Kappel, the agent in charge of catching Lance. And, a really good friend of mine. We're practically best friends.

"Marcy~! How have you been? Those cats of yours still as adorable as ever?" I asked, trying to leak some of the tension out of my system. I mean, wouldn't you be nervous if you had more than a dozen guns pointed at you at once?

"Kimura talked. I know Sterling is here in Venice. Where is he?" She asked. Getting to the point are we?

"Stay cool." Lance murmered. He realized, like I had, that Marcy and the other agents had no Idea that Lance was a pigeon. This was definitely going to be useful.

"Where's Sterling?" Marcy asked again. Walter tried to talk, mostly stuttering through his words.

"I-I can tell you wh-where he's not, which is right h-here."
---Cut to Lance's Pov---

I was safely hidden behind the pole next to Lovey. She cooed to me, and being a bird, I understood what she said.

"What! No, we can't just kill her!" Lovey shook her head in exasperation.

"That's dark Lovey!" I stated.

---Back to Michelle's Pov---

Marcy gestured to the group behind her, and they lower their weapons. She puts hers away as well. "Look, you two aren't criminals. Walter, you're a bright kid. You're inventing things that nobody has ever thought of. I know because my boot is still stuck in one of them." Walter looked guilty. "Sorry."

"No no, we're the ones that owe you, an apology. You're trying to keep the world safe. Just like your mother did."

Did? The sentence made Walter saddened, and I instantly knew. This is who Walter lost.

"I read your file. I know she sacrificed her life to save people." She turned to me. "Rivera, you've always told me that you felt underappreciated. Lance and this agency have never given you the honor and the respect you deserve. How many times has it been Sterling given the praise, when you were right there by his side?"

Too many. This is what I meant by me and Marcy being Best friends. I had told her numerous times about how I felt being Lance's partner. And she was revealing it right to him. I sighed.

"I can help you. Both of you. I can get Walter's job back, a new lab, all the equipment you'll need. And I can get you the recognition that you deserve. Show them what you can do. And no one will ever call you weird or unnecessary again."

It was this moment that I knew exactly what she was doing. It was the same thing they taught me at the academy. Get close to the target, exploit their weakness, use what you have. She was playing all the cards right.

"You just have to give me Sterling."

It was here that I knew, she messed it up. I've been Sterlings partner for almost a year and there is one code that, no matter how mad or annoyed we are at each other, we never break.

You never turn in your partner.

"No." Walter and I spoke at the same time. Walter went on to say, "We should all be working together." Marcy sighed, standing.

"Bad move you two."

Suddenly, the Vault exploded. Alarms rang out and agents began to run inside. Before I could react, Marcy pulled out two handcuffs, latching them to me and Walter's wrists. "Stay here." She commanded as the cuffs attached to the deck. She ran off.

Lance jumped foward, clicking mine and Walter's cuffs to open them. "Let's go." Walter grabbed his bag and we ran inside.

There, a drone with the database in its claw was fighting Marcy and her agents. "That thing has the database." I stated, as we ran inside. The agents tried to attack the drone with weapons, but nothing worked. Finally, the drone struck back with missiles. A huge pile of debris flew towards us. "GET DOWN!" I shouted, pushing Walter down and covering us both. Luckily, no one was injured besides some scrapes. We kept running, seeing the drone fly through a hole in the ceiling. "Let's go!" Lance said.

"Beckett, don't you-"

"Dont worry! We'll stop it!" I shouted, dragging Walter foward by the arm.

"Rivera!"

"Just us two, cause obviously Lance is not here!"

We made it to the roof, but the drone was already too far away. "We can't catch this thing on foot." Walter said, then picked up Lance. "Woah! What are you doing!?"

"You're a pigeon Lance! One of the fastest birds in the world!"

"Put me down!"

"You need to fly! I believe in you."

"Boy, don't you throw me off this- ROOF!" Lance fell as Walter threw him off the roof. Walter stood there for a second.

"He'll figure it out." I sighed, then grabbed Walter's arm. "You trust me, right?" I asked, as I grabbed something from my bag.

"Of course I-"

I grabbed Walter's arm, then dived off the building. Walter screamed in fear, then I wrapped my arm around his waist, and shot a grabbling hook to the top of the building. It caught on the rooftop , and I grappled us both safely to the ground. He had his eyes wide open in fear.

"Never...do that again." I chuckled. We ran through the city, seeing Lance being carried by his flock. "That works." I said. Walter spotted something. "THIS IS OFFICIAL BUSINESS!" He shouted, running up to a random person with a scooter. He tried to ride it, only to send it crashing into a wall. The man screamed, running to the scraps of what was his scooter. I noticed a woman with a scooter. I hopped on. " Need to borrow this, THANKS!" I drove to Walter. "Get on!" He climbed on behind me, then I drove as fast as I could.

We ended up right by the river, seeing Lance and the Drone falling through the Window, the database falling towards us. "Walter, catch it!"

"WHAT! I can't! " I turned my head slightly, keeping the scooter steady. "I believe in you Walter. You can do this!"

He seemed to think it over, and as we approached the database and the drone flying after it, Walter shot his hand out and...

CAUGHT THE DATABASE RIGHT OUT OF THE AIR!

"Oh!" Lance and the other pigeons flew beside us. "Catch! Of! THE CENTURY!" Lance cheered.

"I've never caught anything in my life!" Walter exclaimed. I laughed in pure joy. We did it! Suddenly, I felt a pair of lips hit my cheek.

Oh.
My.
God.

WALTER BECKETT JUST KISSED MY CHEEK!

I am blushing so hard right now. I laughed as we drove through a tunnel. It seemed like nothing could stop is now.

Until something rammed straight into my chest.
