Revenge.
REVENGE
Wade climbed in through the window of the apartment he shared with his boyfriend, Peter Parker, careful not to make a noise as he stepped onto the window seat and then down onto the floor, making his way over to the kitchen for a drink as he raised his mask halfway over his face. Quickly glancing at the digital clock on the oven, he winced when he saw that it read 3am remembering that he had promised Peter that he would be home by at least midnight, although he hadn't at all factored in the fact that Weasel would want to spend time after Sister Margaret's closed getting wasted, leaving Wade to carry his drunken best friend home.
He poured himself a glass of water, feeling fed up with the idea of drinking any more alcohol that night as he walked back into the dimly lit living room, removing his utility belt with one hand. He set the glass down on the windowsill as he pulled the window closed so that the apartment wouldn't get too cold overnight whilst he and Peter slept, before starting to remove his arsenal of weapons that he carried with him everywhere. He turned around, intending to leave his katanas on the sofa for the night, jumping out of his skin as he noticed Peter sat on the sofa dressed in his Spiderman suit, his spine ridged and his hands shaking where they were clasped in his lap, his eyes trained on an item on the coffee table. An item that made Wade's stomach lurch as he stared at it.
His eyes fixed on the gun, remembering that he told Peter that he would always keep one in a safe in the very back of their shared closet and the key hidden in one of Wade's personal drawers – that he was certain that Peter would never look in without his permission or needing the gun for security. He'd taught Peter the basics when he had first asked the young hero to move in with him even if it was only to ease his own fears when he was on mission since he knew Peter hated guns and would rather use his web shooters than harm anyone, even if the other person had been sent to kill them. Seeing the gun out and on the table with Peter staring directly at the piece of weaponry was causing Wade to panic, along with his boxes.
"Peter?" Wade asked softly, hesitantly moving towards the hero, with his hands raised in a placating gesture just in case he scared the male. He was pretty sure that Peter hadn't noticed he'd even arrived back home. "Is everything okay baby boy?" He asked as he crouched down in front of his boyfriend, resting his gloved hand on Peter's cheek to turn his face towards him. Peter nodded slowly, staring back at Wade with a weird expression reflected in his usually bright brown eyes, causing Wade to worry more. "Okay," Wade mumbled, his brain whirring at a thousand miles an hour, "Why's the gun out baby? What happened whilst I was gone?" Wade froze, a sudden thought screaming loudly in his head. 'Oh god. Please no.' He thought, glancing over his shoulder at the gun. It was still fully loaded, and the safety was off. Shit.
His hands grabbed hold of Peter's waist, pulling the smaller male down onto Wade's lap as he cradled his boyfriend tightly, one of his hands pushing Peter's head gently into the crook of his neck as he ran his finger's through the brunette's thick hair. "Baby boy, y-you weren't...please tell me you weren't..." Wade shook his head as he bit his lip unable to finish his sentence, if Peter had been thinking about that then he needed to be the strong one for the night for Peter's sake. Peter frowned in confusion, pulling his face out of the crook of Wade's neck and staring up at his boyfriend, instantly taking note of the sadness and concern written over Wade's face as he tried to push Peter back against him for comfort. Peter shook his head hurriedly, pushing back against Wade's hands, "No!" He yelled placing his hand on Wade's cheek. He probably answered a bit too loud, but Wade's question had scared him, the fact that Wade thought he felt like that was even worse. "God Wade, no!"
Wade grabbed hold of Peter's hand that was covering his own cheek, running his thumb soothingly over the hero's knuckles as he let out the breath he hadn't realised he had been holding, however he soon tensed up as Peter picked up the gun, staring at the barrel as he turned it around so that the trigger of the gun was facing Wade. "I need you to do it." Wade panicked. His breath quickened, making his chest heave as he stared at the barrel of the gun that was pressing against Peter's chest do to their proximity, he tightened his hold on Peter's hands possibly causing his boyfriend pain. 'He wants us to shoot him?!'
[We can't shoot our baby boy!]
{No, we can't! Why is he asking us to do this to him?}
Wade shook his head, tears prickling his eyes as he spoke with a wavering voice. "No...Petey. I c-can't. Y-You said you were okay!" Peter shook his head, rubbing his hand over Wade's spine. "Shush baby. I am okay. I just have a deal to settle and you know I don't like guns!" He stood up, still holding onto the gun that Wade had refused to take from him as he moved to reopen the window before he turned back to face Wade with a cold expression on his face. "I know where he is."
"Who?" Wade asked, tilting his head in confusion as he attempted to calm his breathing, but seeing Peter with the gun and the way he was acting was scaring him a lot more than he would ever admit. "My uncle's killer." Peter mumbled lowly, "I have to get him!" Wade shook his head, grabbing hold of Peter's waist as he reached over to shut the window before taking the gun from the hero, sticking it in the waistband of his suit. "No Peter. You'd never forgive yourself if you went out and killed him."
Peter sighed in annoyance, rolling his eyes as he tried to grab the gun back from Wade, "Fine! I sat and waited for you to come back because I thought you'd want to help me! Clearly that was a mistake!" Wade wrapped his arms around the hero's slim waist, pinning him tightly against his chest. "Baby boy, no. You aren't going anywhere, and you aren't going after this guy. You're going to stay here with me and we're going to sleep and then tomorrow it's all for you baby. You can do whatever you want within reason." Wade mumbled, rubbing Peter's back, breathing a sigh of relief when Peter hugged him back instead of pulling away from him. Wade led Peter over to the sofa, sitting the hero down before he pulled away, staring down at the over male with a smile. "Wait here. I'm going to go and put the gun away and hide the key in a better place." Wade walked out of the living room area.
"Wade?" Peter called, causing the mercenary to look around the doorframe at him.
"Yeah?"
"Thank you." Peter smiled.
"Any time baby boy." Wade grinned, skipping down the short hallway to their bedroom to hide the gun back in the safe.
