I'LL WATCH OVER YOU

Peter and Wade were having a lazy day. It didn't happen very often what with Peter being Spiderman and having to patrol the city and save the world and Wade being a mercenary and having to take jobs often in different countries, so whenever they got the chance to have a lazy day just doing nothing but eating chimichangas, curled up on the sofa watching movies and taking comfort from the present of the other, they did everything possible to make sure no one took that time away from them. Right now, the two of them were laid out on the sofa watching Star Wars: The Phantom Menace that Wade had put on, with Peter curled up, his back pressed flush against the mercenary's chest; Wade's fingers mindlessly rubbing over Peter's stomach as he smiled softly at the movie playing on the screen.

Peter however couldn't focus on the movie even though it was one of his favourites. His mind was whirring away at a hundred miles an hour, overthinking every situation that he had been in over the past week making him feel tense and on edge. He wanted to talk, to explain it to Wade, certain that the other male could sense something was bothering Peter and that was why he had suggested that they do nothing today besides from cuddle and watch Star Wars. He felt Wade laugh at something that happened on screen, his scarred hands shifting on the hero's stomach to hold him tighter. He couldn't take it anymore, he had to do something. Peter sat up, pulling away from Wade's hands that were seeking to pull him back down into a cuddle, as he ran a hand through his hair with a shaky sigh.

Wade sat up, pausing the movie as he shifted on the sofa so that he could see Peter's face, noticing that the other male's eyes were squeezed shut and his jaw clenched, his hands trembling as he clenched them in his lap. Wade raised an eyebrow, "Pete? You okay?" Peter nodded, then shook his head, then shrugged but that was enough of an answer for Wade. He pulled the other male back down so that they were laying stretched out on the sofa again with Peter resting half on top of Wade's chest whilst the antihero ran his hand over Peter's back. "You want to talk about it?" He asked, staring up into the brown eyes of his boyfriend, hoping that the answer would be a yes, although he was disappointed when the hero shook his head.

Peter frowned, moving to straddle Wade's hips, staring down at the other male as his hands brushed across Wade's neck and cheeks as his eyes took in every detail of the mercenary's scarred face before settling on his blue eyes. "You know I love you right?" Peter mumbled suddenly, brushing his thumbs across Wade's cheeks as the other male's eyes widened in surprise. Wade nodded, grabbing hold of Peter's hands, "Yeah baby boy, I know. What's going on?" Peter shook his head, leaning down to kiss the other male softly, putting every ounce of emotion he could into the kiss before pulling away as Wade attempted to deepen the kiss. Peter frowned, his eyes darting across Wade's face again as though he was trying to cement Wade into his memory. "Just promise you won't forget that alright? You won't forget that I love you?"

"Baby boy... you're worrying me." Wade mumbled, frowning in concern as he stared up at the hero, inching closer to kiss him again. "Talk to me." Peter shook his head fighting back tears as he leant his head on Wade's shoulder, inhaling the smell of gunpowder and Mexican food that seemed to have permanently infused itself as Wade's personal aroma regardless of how many times the antihero showered furiously to try and remove the smell. A gentle hand rubbed up and down his spine as Wade quietly mumbled random words in an attempt to comfort Peter. "It's okay baby. You don't want to talk, we don't have to. We can just lay here and cuddle on the sofa. I love you Petey, alright? Just lay down a little honey, that's it. Do you want the blanket on? You're shaking, I'll get the blanket." He reached over Peter, careful not to jostle the smaller male that was now lying partially on top of him, pulling the blanket off the back of the sofa and over the two of them, keeping one hand on the small of Peter's back. "That better, honey? Shush it's okay, just lay down and relax. We're okay. I love you baby, so much. I'm not great at comforting people you know that. But I'll try for you, I'm here for you."

Peter's voice wavered as he lifted his head up slightly from Wade's shoulder, grimacing when he saw the wet patch his tears had made on Wade's favourite shirt, one of his hands still clenched tightly to the fabric. "I t-think you're d-doing a great job." Wade smiled, kissing Peter's forehead, wiping away the remaining tears staining Peter's cheeks. "You're so amazing baby. I'd do anything for you, all you have to do is ask. Nothing will hurt you when I'm around. You tired? That's okay. Go to sleep, I'll watch over you. You're safe baby boy." Wade continued to mumble quietly until Peter stopped trembling, slowly falling asleep, his breathing softening into little snores. [What happened to him?] Yellow asked curiously.
"I don't know." Wade mumbled, careful to keep his voice quiet so that he didn't wake Peter as he spoke to his boxes.
[Maybe someone hurt him! We should kill them!]

Wade sighed, rolling his eyes, his hand still moving up and down Peter's back even though he was asleep, the other holding the small hand resting on his chest. "We don't know what happened. We can't just kill people." Wade reasoned.
{Maybe he'll want to talk when he wakes up.} White suggested, helpfully.
[Then we can kill people!]
"Can you guys get lost, so I can take care of my baby boy?" Wade asked with a sigh, shaking his head at his boxes' running commentary of suggestions. {But we want to know that he's okay!}
[Yeah! Can we stay? Please, can we?]

"Fine." Wade sighed, rubbing a hand over his face as he put the movie back on, watching it until Peter woke up once more, evidently embarrassed by his earlier emotional outburst. "Hey baby." Wade mumbled, rubbing Peter's back as the other male slowly woke up. "You have a nice sleep?" Peter nodded his face flushed red from embarrassment as he remembered what had happened before he'd fallen asleep. "I'm sorry." Peter muttered, looking up at Wade but not quite meeting his gaze. Wade shrugged, "It's okay baby boy. You ready to talk now?"

Peter nodded, hurriedly giving Wade the shortened explanation of his week, the feeling of being underappreciated and being lost within himself due to his two identities being so closely linked and yet so far apart from each other that they were like twins and yet were still so different and how he liked being Peter Parker and having a normal life with nothing to worry about when it let him, but he also enjoyed being Spiderman and feeling like he had a purpose because he saved people's lives but it was so confusing that sometimes he felt like the only thing he was certain about was how he felt about Wade and he had to make sure that Wade knew that too. Wade listened the whole time, nodding in agreement with what Peter said about his two different identities and how they were now interlinked although that was mostly due to Wade and the Avengers. Wade could totally understand how that had been so overwhelming for Peter, especially when he knew the hero had been so secretive in the past about his real identity and Spiderman not combining in anyway before.

"As long as no one hurt you?" Wade questioned once Peter had finished talking, still dubious since he could tell that Peter had shortened it for his sake, his hand tightly holding onto Peter's hip but not enough that it would bruise. He never wanted to hurt his spider if he could help it. Peter shook his head, "No more than usual when I'm patrol." He stated with a nonchalant shrug, "This was all me and this." He tapped the side of his skull with a grin which caused Wade to relax and press a kiss to Peter's forehead with a smile. "Good," Wade muttered, "because I meant what I said about no one hurting you while I'm around."
