To Save A Life

This is kind of a weird timeline type thing. It's when Tony had the old reactor and not his heart transplant thing. So bear with me here.

Peter Parker was contently sleeping when a loud ass phone alarm awoke him. Peter jumped and fell out of his bottom bunk bed. Peter groaned but grabbed his phone. It was Tony.

"Mr. Stark," Peter asked, "at this hour?" Peter answered the phone and put it to his ear as he rubbed his face. "Hey, Mr. Stark are you-."

"Kid, this is Happy, Tony's in the medical wing here at the tower. His arc reactor messed up a bit and he had a seizure. Bruce needs you."

Peter went eyes wide at that, "oh god, is he okay?"

"I . . . we aren't sure yet. Just get over here," Happy sighed and ended the call. Peter ran a hand through his hair before throwing on a black t-shirt on then some jeans before hopping around to put on his shoes then ran out of the door. He'd text May later.

Peter sprinted out of the apartment and shot out of the building. Peter shot a web and made his way to Stark Tower. At the moment, he didn't even care about what was going on around him. He just needed to be sure he didn't lose Mr. Stark. His mentor. His father figure.

Peter made his way to the elevator at Stark Tower and instantly tapped the button for Tony's floor. Peter rapped his foot, impatiently. Peter felt a cold out in his stomach as he thought about his mentor in his weakest state. The elevator dung and Peter was staring at the doors, just waiting for them to open. When they did, Peter shot out of there.

"Kid, hey slow down." Rhodey caught him before he made it to the medical wing.

"Rhodey, please, I've got to help Tony," Peter whined and looked at the man. Rhodey smiled and nodded.

"I know, he's awake right now. Let's go see him, huh?"

Peter merely nodded.

Peter and Rhodey walked into the medical bay and looked at the pale figure that lay beneath the equally as white blankets. Peter frowned and instantly shot to the mans side. His heart leaping to his throat causing him to choke out a stream of words.

"Tony, Mr. Stark, hey . . . I-I oh god. Are you okay? What can I do?" Peter was itching to touch the mans arm of hair or shoulder or chest or anything to let Peters mind know that Tony was there, but he was scared he'd hurt him.

"S-Slow down there Pete. I'm alright. J-Just-." Tony's whole body racked with coughs. Bruce came over and tried helping him but Tony's hand slapped at him. "I'm alright," Tony insisted. Peter frowned at him.

"Mr.-Tony, Bruce and I are going to help, okay? Please just let us." Peters eyes were glassy and Tony gave a sigh.

"You shouldn't be up at this hour, Kid. You just went to bed two hours ago, didn't you?" Tony was looking right through him. Peter sighed and rubbed his tired eyes.

"Not what's going on right now. What happened to the reactor?" Peter tore his attention away from Tony and to Bruce.

"Well," Bruce ran a hand through his hair, "apparently one of his energy capsules inside it clicked from its outlet. Kind of like a battery falls out of the remote. It's exactly like that. Only it caused Tony to have a seizure. Now, he's weak. He's . . . It's getting there with him." Bruce didn't want to say it. He didn't want to say that Tony could potentially die.

"Oh man, okay. We should get this fixed," Peter looked at Rhodey who was clearing tears from his face. Peter had red eyes that were glasses over. Pepper came into the room with a water bottle. She smiled, a watery smile at Peter.

"Hey, Peter, it's nice to see you." Pepper set down the water bottle before giving the teenager a hug. Peter smiled and embraced the woman. Pepper had her hair in a messy bun and had on sweatpants and a random ac/dc shirt of Tony's. It was a Saturday.

"Hey Mrs. -Pepper, I'm here to help."

Pepper pulled away and placed a hand on the boys cheek. "Thank you," Pepper pressed a kiss to the boys messy curly hair.

Pepper went to Tony's side and gave him a smile and a kiss on the cheek. "I'll be right here the whole time." Tony smiled at her and gripped her hand, lovingly.

"Let's begin. Rhodey and Pepper, just stay in those seats if you'd like to stay. The others will be outside the entire time if you need anything else." Usually Peter would get excited about the Avengers, but this was under a different circumstance.

"Peter, come here. I'll show you exactly where to put this. Your hands are smaller than mine so you'll have to do it. I'll be here the whole step of the way though. Okay?" Peter merely nodded at Bruce.

Bruce and Peter moved back to the bedside. Bruce removed the reactor and set it aside on a table. Peter looked inside the reactor and physically flinched. It was dimmer than usual.

"Alright, take this. You see that place in there that looks like there should be something in there? It's like a battery compartment." Peter nodded and took the capsule with two lines that resembled DNA strands but they were bright yellow. Almost like a lightbulb. Peter looked at Tony's face.

"If it hurts, please let me know." Tony smiled and lifted his hand to Peters shoulder and gave the best squeeze he possibly could.

     "I'll be just fine."

Peter looked in the mans eyes for anything. The only thing he saw was pain and love. Peter looked back to the reactor and took the capsule in one hand. He needed a better angle. Peter frowned up at Bruce.

"Climb on over him. You won't hurt him." Bruce looked at Tony for confirmation.

"Climb on up here," Tony insisted. Peter did so and threw one leg over Tony's waist so he was right above him on the bed. Peter was able to see the entire inside of the reactor now. Peter hovered over Tony's chest and began to insert his hand. Tony didn't flinch. He'd had Pepper do this. You needed strength for this though. Pepper was unable to do this one.

"Steady. If you touch that," Bruce pointed at an orb, "it could trigger him to have another seizure. That won't be good. Stay away from that and do not unplug any of those wires. Everything else will be okay." Peter nodded, despite him being scared to the very core. Tony was watching Peter the whole time. He loved this teen and he knew he'd do anything for him.

"It's alright, Pete. I'm right here." Tony murmured. Peter nodded. Peter let out a soft breath and his hand entered the whole in Tony's chest. It was weird. Peter found the capsules place and began to ease it into the place. It was hard. Very hard. Peter had to add some super strength to do it. He didn't want to hurt Tony at all.

"You can use as much strength as you need. It'll be just fine." Tony encouraged and put his hand on Peters leg for reassurance. Peter smiled at his father figure. Peter grunted as he added more strength before it finally clicked in. Tony gasped and his face scrunched up in pain. He squeezed Peters leg, who didn't care, not one bit. Tony was breathing heavily and grunting.

"Tony! Hey! I'm right here!" Peter babbled as he grabbed his mentors hand. Bruce looked at his screen. Everything was going smoothly. Tony just needed a minute to get used to it. Pepper had her hand intertwined with Rhodeys. Rhodey was holding her.

"I'm alright. It's alright. Just . . . hold on." Tony puffed. Peter nodded. He let Tony squeeze his hand as tightly as he needed. After a few minutes, Tony was fine.

"Alright, I'm going to hop off now." Peter said and slid off of Tony and the bed. Pepper and Rhodey came over and looked over the man.

"Damn, that feels so much better." Tony laughed. Rhodey chuckled and Pepper kissed Tony. Peter smiled at his mentor and Bruce nodded and took off his glasses in satisfaction.

"I'll bring in the others," Bruce announced. He left to fetch the rest of the group. Peter came to Tony's side and watched as Pepper and Rhodey talked to his mentor. They soon stopped and Tony had his attention on Peter.

"Underoos," Tony started, "Thank you. You pretty much just saved my life." Peter turned a bit red and rubbed the back of his neck.

"Anytime, Mr.-Tony." Tony laughed and opened his arms for the boy.

"Get in here." Peter smiled and threw his arms around his father figure. Tony placed a kiss on the boys shaggy hair. "I love you, Kid."

"I love you too, Tony." Peter felt Tony squeeze tighter. The rest of the family poured into the room with smiles on their faces.

"He lives," Clint exclaims. Tony and Peter pull away to laugh at the voice. Nat comes around and kisses Tony's cheek. Steve smiles and pats Tony's leg with an assuring nod. Bucky pats his shoulder. Tony gives them all smiles.

"Hey kid," Bucky pulls the kid into a side hug. Peter just lets the man do so and smiles up at him.

Peter feels his phone ring and sees it's six a.m. There's a text from May and Peter gulps.
