The End To A New Beginning
Sh-She can't be. Oh god. I'm going to a foster home. What am I gonna do? Th-They-OH GOD!
"Sir, we're very sorry. It was a head on collision . . . there was nothing you could have done. You were at school, Peter." The doctor put a reassuring hand on the younger boys shoulder. Peter kept his head down and clasped hands together. "Is there anyone we can call for you?"
Peter thought for a moment. He knew there was no one else. No one at all. Except for one.
"We have a Tony Stark placed on your emergency list." Peter nodded at that. He listened as a nurse walked away to call the man himself.
"Are you comfortable with this man?" Peter looked to the doctor in front of him and gave him a curt nod. The doctor smiled warmly and stood.
"Tony, you may not-." The doors bursted open and Peter looked to see Tony. Tony frowned and the doctor went to step in the way; Tony moved past him. Tony reached Peter and put a hand on his shoulder. The teen looked the man in the eyes when he began to speak.
"Peter, it's gonna be okay. I'm taking you with me and- and everything will be alright." Peter wanted to believe Tony, he really did, he didn't know how.
"Mr. Stark, she's gone," he began to sob. "A drunk driver killed her, all because he had to drown his own sorrows so that I have to feel the same way he did!" He shouted and instantly collapsed into the man that pulled him forward. Tony rested his face into the kids shaggy mop and held him close.
"Peter. We. Will. Get. Through. This." Tony held the boy tighter.
"Tony Stark, we need you to sign these and you can take him. If he's going to be in your custody you must contact-."
"I will." Was their reply.
"Okay. First, we need to ask Peter some questions just be sure." Tony nodded and patted the boy on the back.
"Pete, they need to ask a few things. I will sign you out afterwords and we can go, Alright?" Tony felt as Peter nodded into his chest.
Peter sat back and waited for the Doctor to start asking. "Okay, first off. Does Tony ever have anyone that's considered bad around you?" Peter was beginning to think the Doctor didn't like the man. Probably from what he heard from the news.
"No, never." The nurse beside the Doctor was looking at the professional Doctor with a questioning gaze.
"Ever put you in a situation that could have harmed you?" Peter remembered Germany.
"Nope." Peter glanced at Tony who smirked a bit at Peter.
"Has he ever physically harmed you?" Peter was starting to give the Doctor a weird look.
"No, of course not, is there a meaning to these questions?" Peter was starting to get antsy.
"Yes, there is. Has he ever tried sexual things with you?" That was the last straw.
"Woah, woah, hell no." Tony cut in and grew angry with Doctor. "Get me someone else." The blonde nurse grew upset at the Doctor also.
"Of course, sir." Was the nurses answer and she pulled the Doc out and shut the door. She shook her head at the door and turned back to Peter and Tony.
"Let's get the papers for you to sign and take him home. Call social services as soon as possible and get guardianship of him, Mr. Stark. He's going to need you." She whispered the last part as she walked past the man who began to follow her.
Peter walked beside Tony as the older man wrapped an arm around the boy. They came to the front desk who had already said his goodbyes to the last of his family.
"All done." The zippy brunette said as she took the clip board from the famous Tony Stark. "Take care you two. Get better." She smiled warmly and sat back down in her chair to put everything into the system.
"Thank you."
Tony put his sunglasses on and made his way to the car with the boy he learned to love. Tony unlocked the car and made sure the boy was in before hopping in also.
"So, Pete, I have that room for you. You'll be living with me an- Pete?" The younger boy was out like a light. He must have been crying a lot. The nurse had told him that the boy had been there all night long. They hadn't gotten his emergency contacts from the school until earlier before they called Tony. Peter wouldn't talk to them at all.
"Oh Peter, we have a long road ahead of us, don't we?" The playboy, billionaire sighed as he looked out the side of his window. At least he knew everything he needed to about the young teen already. Tony began to think about being the guardian of Peter very soon. How would Pepper take this? How would the other Avengers take this? Oh god.
"Mr. Stark?" Tony snapped his head to the kid. The boy must have woken up during the traffic. "W-What's going to happen with me?"
"I have a room already set up for you at the tower. Pepper chose a lot of it because she likes you a lot and wanted to be a big part of it. Sorry if it's girly then." Tony smiled at the boy and he was pleased that he had gotten a small smile from the teen.
"I like Pepper too. She just . . . reminds me of May." Tony nodded, solemnly.
"It will pass, Pete. Maybe not anytime soon but it will get better and I'll be there for you. Pepper, Me, the other avengers, all of us. We clear?" Peter nodded as he looked at his mentor with those brown doey eyes that lit up a piece of Tony each time.
"Thank you, Mr. Stark."
"No need to kid. I love you and that won't ever stop." Peter smiled and looked away.
"I-I am going to miss her so much."
"You will, for a very long time. But, no matter what, this will end and everything will be alright. I'm going to be there the whole time along the whole way. I may not be very good with this emotional sappy stuff but I have gone through what you have." Peter remembered Tony saying something about his parents.
"I know and I want to say thank you for taking me in and helping."
"You deserve it. I need you. You need me."
