Remember That

Tony grunted when his body, guarded by his iron suit, met the top of a roof. Tony scrambles back to his feet and let his breath catch in his throat when he ends up in front of Peters body. The Spiderman mask discarded from the boys face.

"Underoos! Hey, Pete, you gotta open those eyes," Tony picked the boy up and cradled his head. Tony's stomach was in a cold pit. His body was going numb and his focus was on the boy in his arms.

"M-Mr. Stark, my back hurts. I-I think something's wrong," Peter was barely conscious. Blood was all over the place where he was on the ground. Tony was shaking and his eyes began to sting.

"Parker, you listen to me, stay wide awake. It's all going to be okay," Tony was petting the teenagers hair back as the battle surrounded the two. Tony didn't care if he was shot or stabbed, he would still be right there for the kid.

"Aunt May is gonna kill me when she finds out I snuck out to fight with the Avengers again," Peter smiled a bit before it turned into a grimace of pain. Peter coughed, blood ran down the side of his mouth. Tony let out a sob as he gripped the boy harder.

"FRIDAY, status from Spidersuit."

"Severe wound next to disc in spinal cord. Sir . . . Underoos has not much time."

Tony looked at his team. Everyone was holding their own. They wouldn't need him. Tony gingerly picked Peter up and shot off to Stark Tower.

"Penelope! I need you and the best surgeons in here right now!" Tony shouted as he entered from the helipad, face and entire world filled with deep fear and worry. The brunette gasped and let Tony lay Peter on a cot.

Peter yelped in pain and began to cry when his back met the cot. "Flip him over," Penelope ordered. Tony did just that. Peter seemed to relax at the new position.

"Tony, we need you to wait out here. It will be a while," The lady left the man in his panicky mode and iron suit. Tony sat down and had to think about what the hell just happened.

Suddenly, the Avengers came in, beaten and out of breath. Steve lead them in and stopped in front of Tony, "How is he?" Tony let a tear slide down his face. Steve bent down, supporting his side and grabbed Tony into a hug. Tony didn't even think twice before embracing the super soldier. Nat smiled as she held her shoulder.

"Just kiss already."

Tony and Steve looked at her like she was the devil.

"Is he going to be alright?" Clint asked, setting his bow down and taking a seat across from the group.

"I'm not sure yet. He's in surgery," Tony murmured. The rest of the team took a seat and waited for any word on the youngest of their team. Bucky was next to Steve and murmuring to him every now and then. Tony and Nat were talking small talk. Rhodey was also talking to Tony.

The doors opened and a Doctor came out. All of the Avengers stood and looked to the Doctor.

"Peter will recover just fine," The Doctor was smiling when the team of superheroes let the tension drop and relax a bit. "He will need to be in a wheelchair for a couple of days. His back is still recovering and I don't want to put strain on it. Otherwise, he can do whatever it is he pleases. He's awake and asking for all of you." The team nodded and made their way to the room in Stark Tower that held their youngest.

"Hey guys," Peter smiled, his voice was weak and he was a little out of it.

"Hey Peter, how is the back?" Wanda asked as she brushed hair out of Peters face. Peter smiled at the motion and shifted a bit to see all of them.

"It's in a rough spot, but the Doc said I'd be alright," Peter smiled.

"Dammit kid, why didn't you say you were in trouble. You scared the heart that I have out of my chest," Tony barked. Peter frowned at the man.

"I-I didn't know that the blast was coming. I was fighting off the aliens and I just thought my Spidey sense was going off because of the guy behind me. I'm sorry, it knocked me out the minute that it hit me." Peter was looking at Tony with sadness in his eyes, "are you going to take the suit back?"

"God no, never again. I told you're Aunt that you were here and playing video games with Steve. She told you that you should have told her. She's not mad though. Um, I've gotta go. I'll be back," Tony didn't know how to handle this. He didn't want to talk about how emotional he was. Tony was turning to go when Steve caught him and turned him back around.

"Tony, you need shove that pride up your ass and keep Peter calm. He loves you like a father and he needs you right now. We know how much you care for him and couldn't care less how you act," Steve whispered to the dark headed man. Tony sighed, placed a hand on Cap's shoulder and patted it before looking at Peter and grabbing his hand.

"I swear, the next time you go out there. You don't leave any of our sides. Be by someone the whole time. Are we clear?"

"Crystal," Peter smiled. "I really get to go back on the next mission?" Peter smiled huge, big doe eyes glistening with excitement. Tony couldn't help but smile back with the same amount of happiness.

"Of course kid, only under those circumstances though."

"Thank you, Tony."

Tony stopped, "you said my real name."

"I think the formals are over," Peter laughed.

Tony grabbed the kid into an easy, soft hug. "I love ya kid, you have to keep that in mind when you're out there." Peter was hugging the man and smiling at the Avengers who were smiling back at him.

"I love you too, keep that in mind when you try and get yourself killed." The room erupted with some giggles and chuckles.
