At Last, The Hero and Villain Meet!
Spider-Man was horrified to find Batman on the verge of death. He looked at Bloodlust and asked, "Carnage?" Bloodlust shook his head and growled, "no... Bloodlust... You must be Barbara's pen pal, Peter Parker." Spider-Man could feel nothing but dread. "Play dumb," he thought. "Who's Peter Parker?" Spider-Man asked. "You can't play stupid with me, Spider-Man!" laughed Bloodlust, "Carnage has told me everything! But you know, it only seems fair that you know who I am..." Bloodlust then showed his true face. "Who are you?" Spider-Man asked. "The name's Jason Todd," replied Jason, "I was the second Robin. Until I was beaten to death by The Joker. And Bats here didn't do shit. Just like how he didn't do shit when Joker crippled Babs. All because Commish wanted him to do it by the book. But that's the thing with Goody Two-Shoes like you and Bats. You have a standard moral code that prevents you from doing what needs to be done. You stop a crook and scold him, only he ends up doing the same thing over and over again. I kill a rapist to ensure he never does it again! Your standard code makes you all weak! Evil can't be cured, only killed!"
"That's not true!" protested Spider-Man, "I often blame myself for every failure that occurs. Because every now and then I know that even with all my powers, I can't save everyone. That's the hardest part about this job." Jason laughed, "well you're in quite a compromising conundrum, Spider-Man. You can either stop me and let Batman bleed out until he dies, or you can give him medical attention while I run away and hunt down Joker and kill him like the scum he is! What's it going to be Webhead? Him or me? It would be a shame if you caused the death of Batman just like when you caused the death of that girl, Gwen Stacy..." Spider-Man looked at the barely alive Batman, the pool of blood increasing. Then he glared at Jason. "Damn you Jason Todd," growled Spider-Man, hurt at the fact that Jason would stoop so low as to mention Gwen Stacy, the one woman he loved who was dead because he tried to save her and failed. "Ooh, looks like I hit a nerve. One more thing," said Jason, "I need Carnage. This guy is literally my life support. If I were to be separated from him, I would die. Again. Would you really want my second death on your conscience, Peter? I'm sure Barbara would hate you if she knew you were the cause." Jason could sense that Peter wasn't going to fight him. He then allowed the Symbiote to cover his face, and he grinned evilly. "Till we meet again, Spider-Man!" Bloodlust taunted, and he ran away.
Meanwhile in the Batcave, Barbara was still on the Batcomputer, patiently waiting for anything. She was on her third cup of coffee. Suddenly, her cell phone rang. She picked it up and said, "hello?" She then heard Jason say, "hello Barbara." For a brief moment, Barbara's face turned pale with fright. "J-j-j-Jason?" she stammered in frightened disbelief. "That's right Barbara." Jason confirmed on the phone, "I'm the one who's been murdering Zsasz, Magpie, and all the killers, rapists, and scum of this city. I want you to know Barbara, you've always been like a big sister to me. You were always so kind to me, even if I screwed up back when I was Robin. That's why I'm going to let you live. I promise you Barbara, the monster who ruined both of our lives is going to get what he fucking deserves. Goodbye Barbara." Barbara wasn't sure how to feel. She couldn't believe that Jason was suddenly back from the dead. But she was also horrified to know that Jason was the Bloodlust killer, a monster who was no better than Joker or Two-Face. "Jason wait..." Barbara said, unknowingly shedding tears. But by then the phone had hung up. Suddenly, Spider-Man said on the radio, "Barbara! Batman's been seriously injured!" Barbara regained her composure, then got on the radio and said, "what happened Spider-Man? Just breathe and tell me as calmly as you can..." Spider-Man then said, "Jason, I mean Carnage, I mean Bloodlust, he brutally beat Batman up. And now Batman is bleeding everywhere! He's barely breathing! What do I do?!?!?!?!" Barbara started typing and said, "put Batman in the Batmobile and get in, Peter; and shut the door. I'll take it from here." Spider-Man then put the unconscious Batman in the passenger's seat of the Batmobile and got in the driver's seat. He then closed the Batmobile's doors. Barbara then said on the Batmobile's radio, "Batmobile, this is Oracle taking over." The computer inside the Batmobile said, "acknowledged, Oracle." Barbara then said on the radio, "Batmobile, go into auto-pilot." The computer inside the Batmobile then said, "setting Batmobile to auto-pilot." Barbara then said on the radio, "Batmobile, drive back to the Batcave." The computer inside the Batmobile then said, "understood, driving back to the Batcave." The Batmobile then started to drive back to the Batcave. "Batmobile," said Barbara, "show me the heart monitor of Bruce Wayne." The Batcomputer computer then showed Bruce's heartbeat. It was steady, but barely.
