"Come out little students, come out, come out~" the man sung.
Currently, Peter and his classmates were on lockdown. The teacher was deeply asleep, no one having the heart or courage to wake him. How he stayed asleep through this whole ordeal, well that was a mystery.
The class is panicking, some people texting, some trying to talk quietly on their phones despite the constant hushing of others. The footsteps of the mystery man were faint, but slowly approaching.
What was Peter doing? Peter was sitting there, still, seemingly emotionless but screaming on the inside. He needed to find a way to change into Spider-Man without being seen.
As the footsteps got louder, more phones turned off. Most people wanted to panic, but they had to stay calm so the intruder wouldn't know they were there.
The footsteps finally stopped. Some people let out a sigh of relief thinking the man stopped at the classroom before them. Sure that might be a bit mean, but people couldn't help being relieved. Though that all soon washed away, when there was a shadow seen outside their classroom door.
Everyone held their breaths, as the door handle started rattling. Someone couldn't help it and let out a small cry, but the girl quickly threw a hand over her mouth.
Everyone looked at her surprised, but they couldn't take that small noise back. The handle started rattling quicker, and there was soon banging.
Now some people tried to stay quiet, but others were losing it. Peter had to do something, Spider-Man or not, his first instinct was to help people.
But who would listen to a nerd? The one who barely speaks in class. Well, at least one plan was better than none.
"Everyone," Peter spoke.
All eyes turned to Peter. Peter wanted to cower under everyone's gazes, though he didn't. He only sat straighter.
"I have a plan..." Peter hesitated, now getting everyone's attention, he seriously considered backing out.
"Why should we listen to you?" Flash jeered.
"Now isn't the time Flash," Ned spoke out.
No one else responded, so Peter took this as a sign to continue, "Everyone make your way out of the window, some of the strong ones can help barricade the door."
Everyone nodded, happy to have a plan. Sure this was basic 101 of "in case of an intruder," but everyone quickly forgot about it, fearing for their lives.
People quickly scrambled around, teacher waking up amongst the chaos. He ran towards the window just like many others, wanting to get out of there as fast as possible.
Everyone started silently climbing out of the window, while a few others, trying to be quiet (but unsuccessfully), barricade the door. That just made the intruder try to kick the door in.
Most people evacuated, other classes following seeing this class evacuation. The other classes have probably recently been informed that there's no one waiting outside.
Now, only three remain in this class, Peter, a superhero. Ned, a loyal friend. And Flash, but why is Flash here?
"Flash, leave," Peter says through gritted teeth. He knows the barricade isn't going to hold. Why was the intruder so persistent to get into this classroom?
"Why?"
"What do you mean?! We don't have time for this!" Peter runs over to his backpack. He needs to change into Spider-Man quickly.
Flash doesn't respond. What could he be thinking?
"We don't have time for this, Ned! You need to get out of here!"
"What! Peter, no. You-"
"Ned, I can handle this, you know I can." Ned looks hesitant, but with a final nod, he heads towards the window, waiting for Flash.
"Get out of here Flash!"
Flash still looks uncertain, but Ned grabs Flash's wrist and runs towards the window, but before they can make it out, the door is kicked in, sending the various desks and shelves flying. All the boys freeze in place, ducking to avoid any debris.
The man, wearing a vest with camouflage designed pants walks in, weapon in hand, "I know you're here, Spider-man." Peter's eyes widen, how could he have known? The man scans the room, finding three boys standing there, "Now, which one of you is Spider-Man?"
They're all still in place, not wanting to set off any alarms. While the man takes out a small device, with a faint beeping noise, Peter quietly ushers the other two to leave.
Ned has his hands around Flash's shoulders, slowly backing himself out along with him. The man looks up sharply, and they freeze in place once again.
The man walks over to the other two, "Now which one of you two is Spider-Man?" The man asks. He holds the device up to the both of them, the device not making any sound difference.
Annoyance is clear in the man's face. He throws the device to the side, which gets a little bit louder, but the man doesn't notice.
He grabs Ned's arm, "Fine, this was a waste of time, might as well make it worthwhile."
The man starts to pull something out of his jacket but is stopped by a sticky substance on his arm. He looks down, seeing white webs. The man turns around to see the source, coming from one Peter Parker.
"Surprise?"
Peter quickly flicks his wrist before the man can react, sending him flying to the ground. The man grunts, starting to pull something out of his jacket. Peter doesn't let him, quickly running towards the man, disarming him as Peter flips him.
The man groans once more, rubbing his head while slowly getting up, "You bug..." he mumbles while trying to get back up again, but Peter webs him down.
Peter walks over to the man, "Spiders aren't bugs ya know, they're arachnids, you should really pay more attention in class."
Peter sighs, looking around at the mess of the classroom, how was he going to explain this one? He looks over at the other two people in the room, Ned and Flash.
Ned looks at Peter like he's a superstar, and Flash is frozen in place, mouth hung open. "Y-you're Spider-Man..?"
"What does it look like? Yeah, I am, no use of hiding it from you. Would it be a stretch if I said I ran into Spider-Man and he gave me his webs?"
Flash ignores his remark and continues to gawk, pointing up a finger between him and the man, very confused, "You're just Puny Parker! There's no way..." Flash stumbles back, sitting down with his hands on his head, trying to control his wide eyes.
Peter walks over to Flash, crouching down to get at his level, "Listen Flash, you can not tell anyone, ok? You hear me?"
Flash ignores him, so Peter starts snapping his fingers in front of his face. Flash jerks his head up as Peter puts his hands in front of him in a defensive position.
"You saved my life."
"Well uh yeah I guess I saved both of your lives."
"Not just that, the whole schools, you save people's lives on a daily, you risk your own to help others..."
Peter blushes a bit, but quickly regains his composure as he stands up, "So you won't tell anyone?"
"Mm," is all Flash responds.
Peter takes it as improvement, hoping for the best. He walks over to Ned to see if he's ok.
"What are we gonna do Pete? People will come to check in on us soon with the intruder, the police might come!"
At the mention of the authorities, Peter bites his bottom lip in worry as he looks around quickly. He tries to see if there's any way to cover this up. "Ok, so I've got a plan, but it's a really bad one"
Ned then proceeds to drag Flash out of the classroom to go hide somewhere nearby, so they both have an alibi. Peter gathers his stuff, putting on his Spider-Man costume. He sees a security camera in the room, knocking it out. Peter carries the man onto the roof, throwing him down onto it.
"Now what should I do with you? I can't obviously turn you into the police..."
"Oh I'll go to the police willingly," the man spoke for the first time in a while, "They have a few people in jail who would just love to know your identity, your family, and your friends. Just so happens I know who most are."
Peter shoots a web over the man's mouth so Peter could focus. He just needed to decide what to do now. He could call Tony, but he didn't want to bother him with something he might not even be able to help with, so Peter decided to call SHIELD, he's sure to have the number somewhere.
Sure enough, when Peter went through his bag, he finds a scrawled up paper in faded ink with a number on it. "Don't use it unless it's for emergencies," Tony's words rang through his head. This seems like an emergency.
Peter dials the number on his phone while hiding the caller id, doubting it will do anything. After the first ring someone picks up, "Nick Fury speaking."
Peter froze, Nick Fury? He just thought it would go through some sort of reception or however these government-based organizations go.
"Y- yes, hello sir, this... this is Spider-Man."
Peter hears a snicker behind him. Peter looks at the man, glaring at him while walking a bit away. Peter starts talking in more of a hushed tone, "I have a problem."
So Peter explains what the situation is. He tried to leave out the details of his identity somehow but Nick Fury might already know it. Just in case, Peter tells himself.
Nick Fury seems hesitant to help someone he just met but surprisingly helps Peter. Peter would like to believe that he's a genuine, nice, caring person, but Peter knows better. He decides not to question it since he is getting help.
Authorities arrive, surrounding the school, agents coming in on a helicopter landing on the roof, taking the man away.
Peter sighs, sitting down on the edge of the building while the agents clean up the mess. He looks up at the sky, the colors ranging from pink to purple.
Today sure was another stressful day at school.
