Y/N's P.O.V

So, I'm now back in school but I can't stop thinking about what happened.

Not just about what happened to my dad, but also what happened in D.C.

I walk over to my locker when I see Finn come over.

Finn: Hey, man. Where were you yesterday? You...

He looks at me.

Finn: Dude, what happened? You look like you've seen a ghost.

Y/N: My dad was attacked and he's in a hospital.

Finn: Holy crap. Is he okay?

Y/N: Well, sorta. He's still breathing and all, but we have no idea if he'll recover.

Finn: Damn. I'm sorry, Y/N. Did they catch who did it?

Y/N: No, but they're looking for whoever did it.

Finn: Well, that's good. Right?

Y/N: I guess so. It's just kinda hard to focus on things with all that going on.

Finn: I get it.

I look over to see a brunette girl wearing purple.

And she looks alot like Hawkness. She's gotta be the same girl.

I think her name is Kate Bishop.

Y/N: Hey, isn't that Kate Bishop?

Finn looks over to her.

Finn: Yeah, that's Kate Bishop.

Y/N: You know her?

Finn: A little. We're in the same geography class.

Y/N: I gotta go talk to her.

Finn: Yeah, you and every other single guy in this school. I thought you were looking to go out with Mara, anyway.

Y/N: Shut up.

I walk over to her as her friend walks away.

Y/N: Hi, Kate.

She turns to me.

Kate: Hi. You're Y/N Reilly, right?

Y/N: Yeah, that's me.

I sigh.

Y/N: I just wanna say thanks for saving my ass yesterday in D.C.

Kate: D.C? When'd I...?

Her eyes widen.

Kate: Oh, you were the new Spider-Man in the red and black, right?

I nod.

Y/N: Yeah, that's right.

Kate: Oh, wow. I didn't expect that. So, do you need to talk about yesterday?

Y/N: Uh...

She puts her hand on my arm.

Kate: You look like you need to talk about yesterday.

I nod.

Y/N: Yeah.

Kate: Come with me. I know a good spot.

She and I then leave together.

(Twenty minutes later)

Kate and I are now sitting on the rooftop ledge at Mid-Town High.

Y/N: I can't believe I never put it together that you were Hawkness before?

Kate: It's a psychology thing. I just take off the sunglasses and I'm Kate Bishop.

Y/N: So, it's like a reverse Clark Kent?

Kate: I never thought of it like that, but yeah.

She looks to me.

Kate: So, yesterday was rough for you, huh?

Y/N: Yeah. I've only had my powers for a barely a week. That was my first big fight.

Kate: That makes sense. Still, you did pretty good for a rookie.

Y/N: People still got hurt though. Some people died too.

Kate: Yeah, but alot of poeple escaped because you were there. And everyone freezes up when they're starting out. Hell, I threw up before my first big fight and after it.

We chuckle.

Kate: That's bad too.

Y/N: Yeah, that sounds bad.

I sigh.

Y/N: Well, thanks for talking with me. I needed this. You know, someone who really gets it.

Kate: It's no problem.

We both stand up.

Kate: So, do you wanna come with me today to meet others like us?

Y/N: Yeah, sure. I'd like that.

Kate: Cool. Meet me out front after school, Spider-Man.

Y/N: Will do, Hawkness.

She smiles before leaving.

(Four hours later)

It's now the end of school and I'm getting ready to meet with Kate.

Just then Mara comes over to me.

Mara: Hey, Y/N.

Y/N: Oh, hey. What's up?

Mara: Well, I just wanted to check on you. Finn told me about your dad. You okay?

Y/N: Yeah, I'm good. Thanks.

Mara: That's good. Oh, and I wanted to see if you'll be at the game on Friday.

Y/N: Yeah. I'll be there for the school paper taking pics.

She smiles.

Mara: Great.

Y/N: Hey, so I've gotta get going. I'll see ya tomorrow.

Mara: Okay... bye.

I leave the school and see Kate up ahead.

Y/N: Hey, Kate.

Kate: Hey. You ready to go?

Y/N: Yep. Let's do it.

She and I leave to suit up.

(Fifteen minutes later)

We're now on a rooftop in the city wearing our suits.

Kate: Okay. Let's go, Spider-Man.

She fires a grappling hook arrow before swinging away.

I jump off the rooftop and web swing to follow.

After a few minutes we make it to a Stark Industries research facility.

I drop down next to Kate.

Y/N: So, this is your base?

Kate: Yeah. Mr. Stark gave this place to us for us younger heroes, but we usually have a den mother here with us. Come on.

We go to the entrance and immediately end up in an elevator.

A moment later we make it to the base.

Kate: And here's our command centre for lack of a better word.

Y/N: This place is awesome.

I look over to see Iron-Lad and White Tiger are already here.

Kate: Hey, guys. I found our other Spider-Man.

She looks to me.

Kate: You can take your mask off, if you want. We all know each other's secret identities.

White Tiger: She's right. What's shared in this base, stays in this base.

Iron-Lad: Including secret identities. Here, we'll go first.

His face plate comes up to reveal a young guy our age.

Iron-Lad: Hi. I'm Nathaniel Richards, but just call me Nate. And...

White Tiger takes her helmet off to reveal her face.

White Tiger: And I'm Ava Ayala. Hey there.

I sigh.

Y/N: Okay.

I take off my mask.

Y/N: Hey, guys. I'm Y/N Reilly.

Kate takes off her sunglasses.

Kate: He already knows who I am.

I look to Nate.

Y/N: So, do you guys go to Mid-Town High too?

Nate: Yep.

Ava: Kate told us that she met you today. So, we thought we should be here before you guys got here.

Y/N: Right.

Nate: So, Y/N, you're more than welcome to join our group.

Ava: Yeah. We're always lookin' for new members.

Y/N: Uh, yeah. That's sounds great. I'd like that.

Kate: Great. You'll fit right in with us.

I nod.

It's nice to be around other heroes like me.

And it'll be good to have them with me if another attack happens.
