Whatever It Takes (Part One) | Peter Parker [TH]/Dad!Stephen Strange

Has it seriously been five days since I've uploaded a Spidey imagine??? Y'all I am sooo sorry!

Tomorrow the Avengers 4 trailer releases (rumor is at 9 am EST but who knows) and Saturday is the Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer! In order to celebrate this, I am starting a series that will run through the events of Avengers 4 and Far From Home - or what I think will happen, of course. It's the same thing I did for Infinity War on my old account.

So here's the first part! Not sure how long this will end up being, but since I want to cover Avengers 4 and Far From Home, it'll be pretty long. Enjoy, and happy trailer week!

"I searched across the galaxy for the infinity stones. I spent years trying to find even one of them, so that I could hold it in my palm and crush it beneath the tips of my fingers. But I failed. I failed you all, I failed the universe. My own brother... my new friend called Tree..."

Thor dropped his head and shook it shamefully.

"I am so sorry."

"We all failed," Tony replied. "We all had... there were things we could have done differently to fix this."

"I could have killed him," Nebula said. "If he hadn't of seen me... he would be dead and gone and Gamora would still be here-"

"We all lost people, okay?" Tony snapped at her. She glared at him but fell silent. He looked at Thor. "Who else... disappeared?"

"Cap's soldier friend. Wanda. Vision was killed. A large majority of Wakanda that fought bravely with us, including their king. Sam."

"Rhodey is alright?" Tony whispered. When Thor nodded, he sighed in relief. "Good. That's good. Cap? Nat? Bruce?"

"All okay," he answered. "Who on your end?"

Tony swallowed thickly. "Blue girl over there? All of her friends."

"The morons?" he asked. Tony tilted his head in confusion. "Oh, the rabbit will be crushed."

"O...kay. We lost her dad-" He pointed to you, who had been sitting quietly behind Tony since the start of the conversation.

"Did we just lose?"

You dropped to the ground that your dad was on. "Dad, are you okay?" you asked.

"I'm fine," he said, smiling through the pain.

"No you're not," you said.

He sighed. "You can see right through me."

"Not completely." You forced a smile yourself. "Dad, why did you give up the stone?"

His eyes were full of tears and he reached out. "I had to," he whispered.

"We lost." You grabbed his hand and pulled it off of your face, settling to hold it in your own. "Why did you give it up, Dad?"

At the same time, Tony asked, "Why did you do that?"

"We're in the endgame now," he said to both of you.

A few moments went by, and you held onto your dad, keeping your arms around him as he grunted and groaned in pain. Peter stared after you sadly - since the beginning of all of this, he had formed a close bond with you.

You gave Peter a half smile. He gave one, too. He looked tired. Worried. You probably looked about the same.

"I want you to remember..." your dad began, stopping to let out a heavy breath. "I want you to remember everything that I taught you."

"I do, Dad. Why? You think he'll come back?"

He stared at you for a long moment, his eyes seeming to be trying to observe every inch of the face of his daughter.

"Dad?" you asked.

"I don't know," he said.

A moment of silence stretched way, way out... and then Mantis said: "Something's happening!"

You looked up. Peter Quill put his arm around her and she looked down-

And she vanished.

You tensed up, eyes wide.

"Quill?" Drax asked, and then he disappeared, too.

Peter Quill turned around and looked at Tony. "Steady, Quill-" Tony started, but Quill dropped his face and gave a worried look.

"Oh, man-" And he was gone.

"What's happening?" you asked. Your legs started to shake, and you were scared. Was everyone going to disappear? Were you next? You clutched your dad tight. "Dad, what-" You looked at him, and he was looking down at his legs. When you followed his eyes, you saw that they were fading away. "No. No, no! Dad!" you cried, looking up at his face.

He gave you a sad smile. "It was the only way," he said. He leaned down to kiss your forehead. His lips had barely brushed the skin when he was gone.

You fell forward, no longer having him to lean against. You fell flat on your hands and cheek and then sat up, brushing the remaining ash off of your face. Bursts of shouts came out of your lips and you stood up on your legs, stumbling backwards.

"Hey, hey!" Peter's arms were around you, holding you in place. "Easy, okay? Easy-"

"Where is he?" you asked. "Where did he go?"

"M-Mr. Stark, she's hyperventilating-" Peter stopped, and suddenly his hold around you was weak. "Mr. Stark?"

You steadied yourself and turned around. Peter's arms slipped off of you and you looked down at his legs and your heart dropped so far, far, far down.

"Mr. Stark? I don't feel so good."

"No!" you whispered. "Oh gosh, no, no - Peter?"

"___?" he whispered back, and he fell towards you.

You caught him, and Tony helped you lower him down. "Tony? Tony, what do we do?"

"I don't know what's happening!" Peter said. "I don't - I don't-" He grabbed onto you, getting your hair and your shoulder in a tight grab. "I don't want to go, I don't want to go! I don't want to leave you."

"Don't leave me, Pete," you begged, sobbing. "No, no, don't-"

"I'm sorry," he whispered. He lost his grip on your shoulder and you shook your head, leaning over him.

"Peter, please-"

"I'm sorry," he breathed again.

"Peter!"

And he was gone.

You glanced up and then glanced back down to the floor.

The man with two different colored eyes started to speak. "I am so-"

"Save your apologies," you said quickly. You stood up, hands balled up into fists at your side. "You said you stabbed him with your axe. Is he dead? Did you kill him?"

"No," he said. "It didn't kill him."

You turned away, putting your hands to your eyes. "Oh, gosh-"

Tony turned, holding a hand out. "Kid, take it easy, okay?"

"That... that thing. He killed them. He killed my dad, he killed Peter-" You choked on your words and turned around quickly. You pointed to nothing in particular as you screamed out, "He killed my Peter! I held him in my arms as he died. He was scared, and he was-"

Tony stood up and stood in front of you. "Hey, hey-"

"It isn't fair!" you cried. "It's not fair that it was him. It wasn't fair. It should have been me-"

"The kid would have beat himself up if it were you," Tony said.

Your face twisted up. "I watched him die," you whispered, your voice breaking.

Tony frowned. "Kid... come here." He pulled you to his chest and held you there. He turned his head and looked at Thor before rubbing your back and continuing to whisper to you, "I know I just met you, kid. And I know you're going through a rough time. And you know..." He swallowed through the lump in his throat. "You know I am hurting pretty bad, too." You cried louder. "But I'm going to take care of you, and I am going to fix this. Whatever it takes."
