Not A Monster | Eddie Brock [TH] / Peter Parker [TH]

Okay I have wanted to do this for a long time now and so I am. I am crossing Venom and MCU!Spidey because that's the dream.

///

After a long day at work, you got home to your house - which was empty. And that was weird, because your husband had sent you a text only an hour before you left for work that said he was starting dinner.

Walking into the kitchen, you saw that he had started dinner. A pot of tomato sauce sat abandoned on the stove top with a larger pot of boiled noodles sitting in lukewarm water. Everything was turned off, but the fridge was left open. You shut it, looking around.

"Eddie?" you called out.

There wasn't an answer, so you went to grab your phone from your pocket-

And on the counter top was Eddie's phone. You ran over to it and grabbed it. You turned on the screen. The lockscreen was a selfie you had taken with him on your last real date. He had one notification; a text from his boss, JJ Jameson.

Spider-Man spotted close to Third Street. GO GO GO!

You shook your head. "Eddie, you didn't," you muttered. But as a soft breeze touched your skin, you knew that he definitely did.

Looking up, you saw the shattered kitchen window. You hurried to it. In the distance, you saw the red and blue flashing lights coming from police cruisers, as well as the blinding spotlight coming from the helicopter hovering nearby.

Eddie - no, not Eddie, but Venom - leaped off of the side of the skyscraper and climbed his way onto the helicopter. He was hanging from it, and you could see from even this distance, Spider-Man swinging nearby.

"Oh no."

//

You took a taxi and told the driver to get as close as he could to the stuff going on on Third Street. He made it all the way to the street, saw Venom, and slammed on his breaks.

"Holy-!" he screamed, but you were already getting out of the cab. He turned around. "Lady, do you know what that thing is?"

"Yes," you said.

He shook his head, eyes wide. "Your funeral. Shut my door so I can go." You did, and he was driving off before you could even step up onto the curb.

You started to push through the swarm of citizens with their cameras on and then through the reporters that were trying to get the best footage of the fight between Spider-Man and the Venom, the crazy and killer alien beast that had been tormenting the citizens of Queens for far too long.

"I'm here on site where Spider-Man and the Venom have taken the fight from the skies to the inside of this local paper company. We've lost sight of the beast or our beloved hero, but we are holding onto the hopes that Spider-Man will be able to walk out of that building heroically - and in one piece."

When you got to the yellow police tape, it was easy to duck under. The police officers were ducked down behind their vehicles, guns ready to fire. (When would they realize that their bullets had literally never worked on Venom, ever?)

You ran past them and they cried for you to get back, but they didn't get up to stop you. You ran inside of the building. Inside, you saw where they (or Venom at least) had crashed through all forty or more floors. You stepped over broken printers and copiers and nearly slipped on loose papers. The lights were out in the building, but a few bulbs flickered. Sparks flew out of outlets and loose wires.

Where were they?

You kept going deeper into the room, which was wide and open. You saw the remains of what must have been office cubicles, and at the far left, the stairs.

You turned towards them, but then a movement from outside-

The entire wall in the back room was taken out.

Spider-Man was crouched on the slick pavement outside of the back of the building.

You started to run that way.

Spider-Man jumped off of the ground and you heard the soft patting sound of his feet and hands crawling up the bricks. You got outside and you saw him climbing higher-

And Venom was slinking back into the shadows, pressed between the space under the awning, waiting for him.

"Spider-Man!" you screamed.

He looked down, then up. His spidey senses must have gone off at that same moment, because he dropped down from the wall, pushing off when he saw Venom, who lunged at him.

They tangled together in the air, fighting one another on their way down. You walked backwards until your back hit the wall and watched as Venom grabbed Spider-Man's head with his claw and pulled on it. He was trying to rip the hero in half and you were so horrified-

"I WILL TEAR YOU INTO PIECES, SPIDER-MAN!"

Screaming out a sound so terrifying that even you were starting to get scared of Venom, he threw Spider-Man carelessly against the wall. He fell hard on the ground after his impact on the bricks, then stayed still on his side.

You ran and stood in the space between Venom and Spider-Man.

"No," you said.

Venom stood there tall, teeth showing, chest heaving with heavy, heavy breaths.

"What, are you going to kill me now?" you asked, voice hard.

"OF COURSE NOT, YOU IDIOT," he said. "GET OUT OF THE WAY."

"I'm not moving," you said. "This is ridiculous, Venom. You... you can't let your anger turn you into this thing. You aren't a villain, Venom. You aren't."

"I KNOW I AM NOT," he said. "HE IS THE VILLAIN. THE MONSTER." He pointed at Spider-Man. "AND YOU NEED TO GET OUT OF THE WAY."

"Why, so you can just tear him apart and leave Queens defenseless?"

"NOT DEFENSELESS. ME... AND EDDIE... WE CAN PROTECT THESE WEAK-"

"They're terrified of you, Venom, because of this!"

Venom clenched his fists and roared, leaning down over you. You did not flinch, not even at the loud sound.

"GET OUT OF HERE. EDDIE IS SCARED I MIGHT DO SOMETHING I WILL REGRET TO YOU."

"You won't hurt me, Venom," you said. "And I need Eddie to listen to me right now, too. Okay?" It was raining, and the drops were going into your eyes. You blinked them away fast. "Look, neither of you can let your grudges against Spider-Man affect your life this way. You're making me watch my husband nearly kill himself night after night trying to defeat a hero. This ends now. You're hurting Eddie, Venom. You're hurting me."

"I DON'T WANT TO HURT EDDIE," Venom said, slinking backwards. "I DON'T WANT TO HURT YOU."

"I know you don't. So why are you still doing this?" You took a step forward and placed a hand on Venom's arm. "I'm not scared of you. I never will be. But I don't want you to become a monster. Not for any reason. I don't want you to because you're not one."

"I'M SORRY," he said, voice about as soft as it could be.

Venom slowly disappeared off of Eddie. You smiled sadly as your husband appeared in front of you, eyes red, skin sweaty. He rubbed the side of his face and sniffed.

"I-I'm sorry," he said brokenly.

You shook your head and stepped forward, putting your arms around his neck and pulling him close. His chest touched yours and his hands found your waist and you stayed there, in the cold rain, eyes shut, just holding him.

"Everything is going to be okay," you breathed.

"E-Eddie?"

You pulled away from your husband, hands sliding down to his chest as you turned your head. Spider-Man was picking himself up off the ground. He stood there, staring at both of you, then reached up and pulled the mask off of his head.

"Peter," Eddie said. He didn't sound phased at all, just drained.

You looked at your husband, who tightened his grip on your waist. He was looking at his coworker with eyes that didn't quite hold enough emotion.

"I would appreciate it if you kept this between us," he said, "for the sake of my wife."

"Y-Yeah," Peter stammered. He cleared his throat, twisting his mask in his hands. "Of course."

"Thank you," Eddie said. He lowered his head to you. "Take me home?"

"Okay," you said. You looked at Peter and smiled sadly. "Thank you."

"Thank you," he said.

With Eddie's arms around you and your arms around Eddie, you both took the slow, long walk back to your apartment, where you would begin to heal from this.
