Like A Fairytale | Eddie Brock [TH]

It was 6:30 am as I am wrote this and I could't sleep

and also can't be stopped okay I just love this man

and I love Beauty and the Beast

so if this is a little weird, it's because it's heavily inspired by the final battle of the animated movie.

Also I think this is the second time I've named the villain in a Beauty and the Beast imagine Richard Evans? And no one ever sees where his name came from smh,,,

oh and happy 2019

///

You had the most cliche story ever.

A girl with an overprotective best friend/almost boyfriend that didn't like her new and "potentially dangerous" - his words, not yours - new best friend.

But nonetheless, you liked your story.

It was like a fairytale. Like Beauty and the Beast, only the prince was a reporter named Eddie Brock and the beast was the symbiote attached to him.

It was close to midnight, and you were hanging out with Eddie. No one knew your whereabouts. No one being Richard, your best friend/almost boyfriend.

The diner was pretty much empty. It was you and Eddie, the waitress, and the two cooks in the back. The staff of the diner knew you and Eddie so well that they kept bringing you endless cups of coffee that were all "on the house". With the amount of caffeine you were putting in your body, you'd be able to stay up all night, sitting on these uncomfortable stools at the bar of the diner, talking to Eddie without a care in the world.

He was wiping the corner of his eye, laughing hard at a story he'd heard a million times, but still liked. He liked anything you wanted to talk about.

"Anyway," you said, tossing a fry you had bitten back into the basket that you and Eddie had been sharing. "That's old news, obviously. So what's new with you?"

He shrugged. "Uh... nothing."

"There's not nothing..."

"Really, there isn't anything new," he said.

You gave him a look. "Eddie. C'mon."

"Same ol' Eddie," he said.

You smirked. "And same old Venom?"

He gestured to the stack of plates in front of him. Four cheeseburgers, two sides of fries, and a triple order of tater tots had been consumed in the three hours you'd been hanging out.

"What do you think?" he asked.

You laughed, pushing your hair back. "Yikes," you said, and you lifted your eyebrows. "So... how do you feel? How are you... dealing with him?"

"Pretty great, actually," he said. "I, uh, feel like I know him, you know?"

THAT IS SO SWEET.

"Shut the..." Eddie muttered, rolling his eyes.

You laughed. "What's he saying?"

I CAN'T BELIEVE I MEAN THAT MUCH TO YOU.

TELL HER. SEE IF WE CAN MAKE HER JEALOUS.

"Nothing," Eddie said, taking a sip of coffee. "He's full of crap."

HEY!

You started to laugh, shaking your head. Eddie was wincing against the loud voice in his head.

I'M NOT FULL OF CRAP, YOU ARE FULL OF CRAP!

He sighed and muttered to you, "Now he's talking about crap..."

HUMANS LITERALLY CRA-

"Okay, relax, Venom. I'll order another double cheeseburger if you chill out."

FINE.

"Did it work?" you asked.

"Yeah," he said. Then, he called out, "Uh, waitress?"

As Eddie ordered another burger, you felt your phone vibrate against the table. When you picked it up, you saw that it was all texts from Richard.

"Son of a..." your voice disappeared with a sigh.

"What is it?" Eddie asked, looking concerned.

"Oh, it's just Richard. Asking - no, demanding to know where I'm at." Annoyed, you muted his texts and turned your screen off, then looked at Eddie. "So," you said. "What else do you want to talk about?"

"Uh, this," he said, pointing to your phone. "This guy isn't, like, hurting you, is he?"

"What? No," you said. "Richard is weird but harmless. He's really protective. We aren't even together but he acts like we are."

"Uh-huh." He nodded. "And how is that healthy, exactly?"

You huffed. "Look, really he's just... I kissed him a few times and now he thinks there is something. Between us. But there isn't, and I tell him that. But-"

Your phone went off again.

You and Eddie looked at the screen.

"He knows you're with me?" he asked.

"I didn't tell him where I was," you whispered. You were getting scared.

"It's two in the freaking morning. Why does he care?" he asked.

But his next text was the worst.

And I know what Eddie is.

You think I won't tell?

I'll tell everyone about that alien friend of his.

I'll ruin him.

"D-Did you tell him about Venom?" Eddie asked, sounding hesitant and hurt.

"No!" you said loudly. "I wouldn't tell anybody, you know that-"

Another buzz.

I know how to kill him.

"What?" Eddie breathed.

Suddenly, the glass door behind you and Eddie shattered. Dishes broke. People screamed. You gasped and Eddie acted fast, standing up and blocking you as Richard stood in the door, a weapon of some kind in his hands.

"Richard!" you screamed.

Black tendrils of venom went up Eddie's neck and them he was raised up a couple of feet as Venom took over his body.

"What are you doing?"

"Don't worry about it," he said.

"You're crazy!" you exclaimed, getting off of your stool.

"STAND BACK, THIS GUY IS UNPREDICTABLE," Venom said, his arm shooting out to block you.

You looked up at him and gave a frustrated look. "Richard," you said. "What is wrong with you?"

"I'M GONNA TEAR HIS HEAD OFF," Venom growled.

"Sure, buddy," Richard mumbled, and he raised his weapon. "I'm gonna kill this monster and watch its skin melt right off-"

You didn't know what you were doing, but you knew you just needed to protect Eddie. And you couldn't, but you wanted to.

You stood in front of Venom. "No!"

Richard scoffed. "You seriously want to protect this thing?"

"It's Eddie," you whispered.

"It's a freak. And once I kill it, you'll see how better off you really are."

"No!" you cried. "You aren't going to hurt him-"

"YOU NEED TO GET BACK," Venom said, pushing you behind him again-

And Richard hit the trigger and you were overcome with heat. Venom screamed in agony as the fire touched him, and you clutched his arm in terror.

Venom was facing you, holding you against him to keep you safe. He was knocking through the walls of the diner to get free. You heard sirens around you.

"Where are we going?" you asked, feeling the wind blow around you. Venom crawled up the side of a the building next door and placed you on the roof.

"YOU ARE STAYING HERE," he said. "I AM GOING TO KILL THAT GUY."

"Wait, no-" You grabbed him. "Stop - you can't kill him. Because if you kill him, then all of those police officers and all of their backup are going to see it and try to kill you."

"THEY CAN'T KILL ME. I'LL EAT THEM."

"No!" you cried. "You have to listen to me. I don't want them to see you as a monster."

"MONSTER?" He sounded offended.

"You know I don't think of you that way. But I don't want them to think of you that way, either. People will be after you. Do you hear me? I don't want you to have to kill good people that just think you're bad." You shook your head. "Please tell me that you understand."

"WE UNDERSTAND."

"I need you, okay?"

"WE KEEP YOU SAFE," he said. And then he jumped.

You leaned over the edge and watched him fall.

The building wasn't too tall; you could see the flames below and you could hear the sounds. There were gunshots coming from the police officers that were standing by.

And you just couldn't believe that your life had come to this.

This was unreal. Richard was ridiculous and dangerous and he was going to die-

Unless Eddie and Venom-

You couldn't just stand here and wait.

You ran out the door and down the stairs. It took too long to reach the bottom and by the time you got there, you were absolutely panicking.

You hurried to the side of the building and heard Venom's roar of pain. You saw him leap onto the side of the building, digging his claws into the sides.

You looked around, unsure of what to do. Then you saw the rain glistened fire escape. You forced your legs forward and rushed ahead, grabbing hold of the rails and forcing your way up the ladder. You kept going, getting to the top of that and running up the stairs.

Richard was keeping up with that flamethrower thing, and you were noticing how Venom was clearly holding back. A burst of flames went up in his face and you saw him fall back, landing hard on his spine.

Richard had the flamethrower pointed right at him.

"No!" you screamed. "No, Richard, don't-"

Venom turned his head and saw you, hanging onto the fire escape.

"Go," you mouthed.

And Venom sat up, grabbing the flamethrower in one claw-like hand.

You ran up the rest of the stairs.

As you did, you heard different sounds that made you nervous. And it wasn't until you saw him climbing up higher that you really started to panic. Something was wrong with the way he moved. Flames were the only thing that could take down Venom - that, and loud sound - but the flames were so close and too high and too frequent...

You ran all the way up the fire escape until you made it to the top. Back on the roof, you ran to the edge.

Meanwhile, Venom had his hand around Richard's throat. And the man was pleading for his life. Pleading.

Venom wanted to drop him. No, he wanted to tear his head off of his body. No. Even better - he wanted to slowly rip him apart limb after limb. Toss them away. Then throw him off the side of the building as he bled out.

We shouldn't kill him, Eddie said.

"BUT THINK OF WHAT HE DID TO US."

Think of her.

Venom growled. "I DON'T WANT TO THINK OF HER."

I do. Don't do this.

He dropped him back down to one of the awnings and backed off. "GET OUT."

On the edge of the roof, you looked down. "Venom!" you cried.

He turned around. "____?"

You reached down for him and he started to climb up slowly. You felt his long, sharp, black fingers curl around your hand and his other hand hold the back of your head. You smiled and leaned into it.

This was Eddie. This was what you wanted.

You leaned in further.

Then you saw orange flames licking up the sides of the building, and you heard Venom scream. His body arched backwards and he was going to fall off. You gasped and threw your body forward, grabbing onto his hand and pulling back.

Below him, Richard was slipping off the side of the building. He was reaching out to you as you managed to steady Venom's body, despite the black tendrils melting and splitting off of Eddie.

You let Richard fall. The look in his eyes pierced into your soul, but you didn't let that show. You didn't watch him fall.

Instead, you pulled Eddie up. Venom was vanishing, disappearing down the length of his neck and around his bare wrists.

"Eddie," you said, dropping him on the rooftop. It was starting to rain again, and you were hovering over his face, pushing your hair behind your ears. "Oh gosh-"

His eyes were shut and he was breathing, but the breaths were shallow and you were scared. You put a hand on his chest and noticed how the skin on his upper shoulders - and you were sure on his back, too, was burnt. Like Venom had melted away right there.

You cupped his face. "Eddie?" you asked, voice high with worry. "Please, Eddie... wake up. Please."

He made a noise in the back of his throat and you kept touching his face.

"Eddie, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry for everything. I should have cut him off a long time ago. I shouldn't have kept him around. But I didn't know he'd do this... I am so sorry-"

"Why are you apologizing?" he muttered. "You didn't try to burn me alive."

You grinned. "Eddie, I-"

"Shhh... stop," he said. He reached his hand up and brushed the back of his fingers against your cheek. "Don't apologize."

"I-I wasn't going to apologize that time," you said. "I was going to thank you for doing all of that for me."

"Doing what?" he asked. "He was gonna kill me, not you." He struggled to sit up. You put your arm around him.

"You didn't kill him," you said.

"Oh, you're... you're right. We didn't, did we?" He looked around. "Wait - if I didn't-"

"I let him go," you whispered. Your eyes were wet with tears.

"You what?" he asked.

"I let him go. He was killing you, and I had to grab one of you. I didn't even need to think. Eddie, I-I just had to save you. I love you."

His eyes shifted around your face. You were sure that your makeup was running off with the rain and your hair was a mess, and you were shaking, but he didn't look at you like he noticed any of those things.

"Come here," he said softly, and you leaned in. His fingertips brushed over your cheeks. "I love you, too," he said.

And he kissed you, putting his hands behind your head and on the side of your face. You held onto the front of his sweatshirt and kissed him right back.

And you really did have the most cliche story ever.
