Just For Today (Part One) | Peter B. Parker [JJ]
GUYS!
INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE IS AMAZING
IF YOU WANT TO REQUEST IMAGINES WITH SPIDER-VERSE CHARACTERS, THEN PLEASE FEEL FREE TO DO SO!
& yes, I do plan on releasing a Miles Morales series NEXT week! I'm going to see the movie again on Sunday and I want to keep it as close to the movie as possible, so once my memory of it and its details is completely refreshed, I will be writing a Miles Morales x Reader that follows the plot of the movie.
As for now, I want to know your thoughts on the movie! *P.S DON'T GO FORWARD UNLESS YOU WANT THE MOVIE TO BE SPOILED*
(don't say I didn't warn you)
My honest review:
I think it was the best Spider-Man movie EVER. It was so incredible. It had comedy, emotions, and it was just... perfect.
My only criticism is that Ganke had literally NO lines and they didn't even mention his name. It sucks, because in the comics and in the Miles Morales book by Jason Reynolds, Ganke was my favorite character.
But that's okay, because I just need to express the good of that movie.
First of all, that Stan Lee cameo. MY. HEART. When Stan said, "I'm really gonna miss that guy" about Spider-Man, I SOBBED. It was the perfect line to hear after his death, knowing that Spider-Man has always been his favorite. It both broke and warmed my heart.
Secondly, the JOKES. Miles saying "I'm a man", Peter Porker holding out the mallet thing and saying, "here... I want you to have this. It will fit in your pocket.", Spider Noir holding the Rubick's Cube and saying, "I'm taking this. I don't understand it yet... but I will.", Peter Parker talking to Mary Jane when she was asking for bread.... there are SO MANY and I don't remember them all and it is KILLING me.
And then the cute scenes where Peter said to Miles, "I love you! Wait - do I want kids?", him reuniting with May, him going back to Mary Jane...
Miles finding out his Uncle Aaron was the Prowler, Miles not knowing what to say to his dad about him being Spider-Man, Miles hearing his dad say that his target was Spider-Man, thinking Spider-Man killed his brother-
IT'S TOO MUCH
TOO MUCH
But it was sooo good. Homecoming was my favorite Spider-Man movie and now it isn't. I loved this movie and everything about it.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THOUGHT ABOUT IT! AND ALSO REQUEST SPIDER-VERSE IMAGINES! PLEASE!
I really fell in love with Peter Parker in this movie. He's really precious and amazing and I have a lot of ideas for both him and Miles BUT I'm gonna start with this one because it is angsty.
///
When Peter Parker accidentally ended up in this dimension, he didn't really think about another one of you being here. And he didn't really want to see you when he was walking down the street in half a Spider-Man suit, a random pair of grey sweats, and a couple of shoes that he found in a dumpster.
But when he saw you walking across the street, tear stains on your cheeks, he stopped in his steps. You were walking out of a florist shop - obviously getting flowers for your husband's grave.
You walked by Peter, a hand over your face. Your shoulder hit his. He blinked in shock. You looked up at him. "Oh, sorry," you mumbled, not recognizing him.
He let out a breath. Why hadn't you recognized him?
Oh, right. 'Cause he was blond in this dimension.
"I-It's okay," he said, after you had already walked off. He stared after you, eyes soft.
And then he was running the opposite way he had been coming, and he was reaching for your hand, and then he was grabbing it.
"Hey," he said, and then again, "hey, ___-"
"Do I know you?" you asked. "Let... go of me." You tugged your hand away weakly, and he could see how tired and sick you were. "Who are you?"
"My name is-" He stopped and sighed. "My name is... Peter Parker."
You scoffed, throat tight as you were about to cry. "That's funny," you said bitterly.
"No!" he exclaimed, and he reached for you again. He was desperate for you to just listen. "I'm... I'm not screwing with you right now. I'm being completely, one hundred percent honest. My name is Peter Parker, and I know you have every right to not believe me, but you also have every right to believe me. I'm from another dimension. It sounds impossible, I know that, but you know what... what your Peter has gone through, what he's seen. You know that the impossible can be possible. I mean, you fell in love with a teenage nerd that was bit by a radioactive spider and given superpowers. I am that nerd, but... but from a different place."
//
By some miracle, he got you to sit with him in a cafe to talk.
You sat at a small table, and Peter noticed how it wasn't your usual table. Because even in his dimension, you and him always sat in the table at the far end of the cafe, the one that was in the sunlight but faced away from the window.
And you were seated on the opposite end, where the table was out of sight.
"Can you prove to me that you're from a different dimension?" you asked.
He sighed, touching the cup of black coffee that you had paid for him. He closed his eyes in preparation and held his breath-
As his body randomly glitched in a dozen different colors.
You sat there, cup of latte in hand, eyes wide.
"Is that proof enough for ya?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah," you said. "How did you get here?"
"Whatever the other Peter Parker was trying to stop... I think that brought me here. Maybe it was because he died and this dimension... doesn't have another one? I don't really know." He shrugged. "I'm just as confused as you are."
"But you are Peter?" you asked.
"My name is Peter Benjamin Parker," he said. "My Aunt May and Uncle Ben raised me. I met you in school, and I had a huge crush on you in high school. By our senior year, you noticed me by some miracle and fell in love with me, too. I was bit by a radioactive spider on a field trip and became Spider-Man. I saved you a couple of times."
Your eyes were wet with tears and you were leaning back in your seat, staring at him with a look that he couldn't define. He leaned forward until his chest touched the table.
"___, you know me," he said.
"I do know you," you whispered.
He nodded.
You cleared your throat and looked around, then wrapped your fingers around the cup of your cooling latte. "Peter," you said, having a hard time saying the word, "where am I at in your dimension?"
His jaw hardened. "You're about where Peter is at here," he breathed.
You nodded slowly.
"Did I look like me?" you asked.
"Your hair was shorter," he said, "and you had this birthmark..." He stopped and tilted his head, looking at you, and he said, "But you are still just as beautiful. You're just... you're her."
You stiffened, then relaxed. Slowly. "And... you're Peter," you said. A tear slipped down your cheek and you shook your head. "You're him, I can see it. You look different, but you're-you're him."
He smiled wide. "I've been waiting for a chance to get to see you again. And I don't know why I was, because you were gone. But I was waiting for you. Now I see why. We lost one another in our own universes - but here, here we have each other now."
He reached over and his fingertips brushed across your knuckles, and you let him. It felt comfortable. This was Peter.
You opened your lips to speak, and he did the glitching thing again. Your smile vanished as he leaned on the table, his hand on his forehead. He was breathing heavily - pained.
And you gave him a sad look, because you knew that he could not stay.
"Peter," you whispered, "you don't belong here."
"Yes... yes I do. I belong anywhere you are. You know that! This is our second chance! We can't blow it!"
"Peter," you breathed again, and you let go of your coffee to hold his hands completely. "You don't belong here. I am not your ___ and you are not my Peter."
"That is not true," he said. "You have her eyes. Please. I'll stay here if it means I get to be with you."
You shook your head. "That's not fair," you said.
"You can't do this," he whispered.
You squeezed his hands. "There is nothing I want more than to get to be with you and grow old with you. But I can see how badly this is hurting you. When you... when your body glitches out like that, I can see how painful it is. I don't want that for you. I don't want that to be the rest of your life. You... just trying to force yourself into a spot here. You see that, don't you?"
He looked at the table.
"I'm so sorry, Peter."
"All I wanted to do was spend forever with you," he said.
"I've only ever wanted the same," you replied. "But we can't force this."
"Can't we pretend we can? Just for today?"
You said, "For today."
