Flash dropped his suitcase on his bed. He huffed, dragging a hand up the top of his long hair. His roommate did the same, then turned and looked at Flash.

"Dude, we should throw a party tonight in our room," he said. "So we can set off our three weeks in Europe the right way."

"Uh... yeah, no thanks, man. Sounds cool, but-"

"But what, dude? It'd be awesome."

Flash smiled uneasily and shook his head. "I have a date planned, actually."

"A date?" his roommate asked, not buying it.

"Yup."

"With who?" he asked.

"My girlfriend," Flash said patiently.

"You have a date tonight, after we are all dead with jet lag and all of the tourist sights are closed?" he asked.

Flash nodded, shoving his wallet in his jeans pocket. "Yup, that's about right." He checked his phone. "And I gotta go pick her up in a few minutes."

"You're crazy, man," he mumbled.

Flash took some flowers out of the hotel garden in the front. He went to the girls rooms and knocked on your door.

You answered as soon as he knocked. Flash grinned. You were dressed in a long sundress and a cardigan, your damp hair twisted up in a bun. You did not wear makeup besides the swipe of glittery lip gloss across your lips.

"You look beautiful," he complimented.

"Thank you," you breathed.

He handed you the flowers. You looked down at them and grinned. "Flash Thompson, did you steal these from the garden?" you teased.

"I did," he admitted. "But hey, I knew they'd match your dress."

"You did not," you said. You grabbed your purse and put it on your shoulder.

"You won't need that," he said, pointing to your purse.

"Oh? If we are going to grab dinner, I want to bring my money-"

"We aren't getting dinner," he assured you. "But if we were, I would be paying. Come on, let's go." He reached for your hand and as you took his, you smiled.

In the back of the hotel, there was a small gated area - probably just for employees.Flash brought you back there with his hands over your eyes. You stepped forward clumsily, sometimes tripping over your feet. You and Flash couldn't stop giggling.

"Alright, are you ready?" he asked you.

"Um... sure," you said, biting your bottom lip.

"Okay. One... two... three!"

His hands disappeared.

You blinked.

And then your eyebrows pulled together.

There was nothing back here; no blanket to lay down on, no picnic spread out. You glanced at Flash with a weird look and he sat down at the center of the gated area. He patted the spot next to him and you sat down.

"Okay... is this some kind of joke?" you asked.

"That's rude," he replied, snorting with laughter.

"Well-" You looked around. "I don't get what we're doing here!"

He went ahead and moved to lay down. You did, too, looking at him oddly. He laughed and reached over, taking your hand.

"Relax," he said, "I wanted to spend our first night in Europe stargazing. I have been reading up on it, and what the names of the constellations are and everything..."

"No you haven't," you said in disbelief.

He looked at you and laughed. "I'm serious. Why is that surprising?"

"It's our first night in Europe, and you want to go stargazing with me?"

"You always wanted to stargaze before," he said.

You weren't sure what you were expecting. Maybe a fancy, far too expensive dinner, a show at a grand theater, even ballroom dancing. But stargazing was something you'd begged him to do with you, and he always brushed it off and took you on more adventurous or grand dates. Which you would never complain about, but this was literally a dream come true.

"You'd do this for me?" you asked softly.

"I'd do anything for you," he promised, his eyebrows pulling together. "You don't doubt that, do you?"

You glanced at his lips. "No," you breathed. "I could never doubt that."

"Good. I love you, kid."

You laughed softly. "I love you, too," you whispered.

You snuggled closer to him, putting your head right next to his. Your fingers intertwined with his fingers and he squeezed your hand gently.

"Alright then, what's up there?" you asked, blinking up at the vast black sky that was littered with twinkling silver dots.
