Future | Eddie Brock [TH]
I can't take the day off y'all. I can't.
Plus, I'm feeling kinda sad and I just need some Eddie fics in my life.
That being said, this is the last Eddie imagine that I will write until I start the Eddie series that I have planned. That won't be published until the Miles series is finished.
Although it pains me, I know most of y'all don't care for them quite as much as my other imagines. And even though I literally only want to write Eddie fics, I gotta pull through.

Eddie skipped going to his apartment after work. Instead, he wanted to stop by his fiancee's place. He picked up a pizza on the way home and even stopped at the only florist on the block to get a bouquet of roses. This was all a surprise, and he couldn't stop smiling at the thought of your reaction.
When he got in the elevator, ready to head up to your floor, he smiled at one of your neighbors. She was a sweet old lady that lived in the apartment across the hall from yours. She stepped in the elevator with him and he hit the right number.
"My, my," she said, fixing her purse on her shoulder. The doors slid shut. "Beautiful roses! Where are they from?"
"The floral shop next block over," Eddie told her.
"Well, I just love them." She stared at them with wide, wanting eyes, and Eddie swallowed so he wouldn't laugh. "Date night?"
"A surprise, actually," Eddie said, smiling.
"Oh. How sweet."
"I try," Eddie said. "She deserves it." He looked at the flowers. "She deserves the whole world, and that's what I'm trying to give her."
"Oh, she is lucky to be marrying you. Yes, I saw that ring on her. Congratulations, Mr. Brock," she said. "When I asked her about it, she went on and on about how romantic it was."
"Thank you, Miss-"
"I am sure the wedding will be beautiful."
"Yeah, we are pretty excited," he said.
The elevator stopped and the doors slid open. Eddie let her walk out first. He walked alongside her, choosing to take her to her apartment before knocking on your door.
"I'm sure you'll be getting an invitation in the mail soon," he said, watching her shakily remove the keys from her purse. "Or... hand delivered."
She touched her chest, pausing the act of unlocking the door, as if the words he said literally forced her to stop. "Thank you, Eddie. I cannot wait."
"Have a good night," he said, smiling.
"You too, sweetheart," she said, stepping inside and shutting the door.
Eddie couldn't stop smiling as he finally went up to your door. He knocked four times fast, then paused for a beat and knocked again. You both had always done it when knocking on one another's doors.
He heard the sounds of your footsteps against the creaky floor (which you despised) and then the locks slid open.
The door was opened just a crack and Eddie flashed a grin.
"Hey, baby," he said.
You opened the door slowly. "Hi... Eddie. What are you doing here?"
"Came to surprise you, of course," he said. He held out the roses. "Here you go, beautiful."
"Thank you," you said softly, taking them.
Eddie couldn't help but feel like something was off. He could tell that you weren't being yourself.
"Come in," you said, still looking at the roses.
"Okay," he said. He did. As you walked to the couch, he put the pizza on the counter. He opened the box. "You hungry?"
"Uh... sure," you said.
He went to get the plastic plates out of the cabinet.
"One slice or two?" he asked over his shoulder. He gave himself four. "___, did you hear me?"
You were staring at the coffee table, where you had put the flowers in a vase with no water.
Eddie sighed. "For crying out loud, ___, is something wrong?" he asked, dropping the plates on the countertop.
The noise was almost loud and it made you jump. Your eyes became teary almost immediately, and Eddie began to feel guilt wrap around him.
"Hey, no," he said, rushing to the couch. He knelt in front of it, placing his hand on top of yours. "Baby, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you. I'm not mad-"
"No, no, I know-" You were crying, and you waved your hand. "I know you aren't. It's just... I've had a tough day is all. And I know it isn't fair, because you went out of your way to do all of this for me. And I am so grateful, baby." Your voice dropped to a whisper. "I am so grateful for everything..."
Eddie moved up to sit down next to you. "Come here," he said softly. You leaned against him and shut your eyes. "What happened today?"
"Nothing big," you said. "Just little things. But they all get to you, you know, and I just..."
"You don't need to explain it all to me," he told you. "I just want you to be happy."
"I am," you sighed. "Every time I see you." You shut your eyes. "You make me happy, Eddie."
You and Eddie sat together in silence. The pizza was getting cold, but neither of you cared, because he liked holding you and you liked holding him, too.
"The roses are really pretty," you said randomly.
"Yeah," Eddie said. "They must be, because your neighbor nearly stole them from me."
You lifted your head and laughed at him. "No way?"
"Way," he said.
You shook your head. "You know, I am not sure why that surprised me. It makes total sense."
Eddie laughed. "You know at that part in weddings, when the bride throws her bouquet over her head..."
"Yes," you laughed, covering your mouth.
"Well, I bet all my money that she will literally be jumping on your head to get that from you."
You laughed hard. "Well, it's a good thing she isn't going to be invited."
Eddie's smile vanished. "What?"
"She isn't coming," you said. "Obviously."
"Uh..."
You blinked at him. "Eddie, you didn't."
He had the guiltiest look ever. "I am so sorry-"
You threw your head back. "Ugh, no way-"
"I am so sorry!" he said again.
You shook your head. You weren't really mad. "I'm gonna have to move. We are going to have to leave California. I'm completely screwed now."
"Hey, no," he said. "Now, what's so wrong with running from your problems? I think that is one hundred percent acceptable and pretty brave."
You laughed, shaking your head.
"And you know what, what's so wrong with moving? We can move to New York just like you've always wanted."
"Really?" you asked, tilting your head.
"Really," he said.
You kissed him on the lips. "And then we can start a life there?"
"Of course," he said. "What could go wrong with starting over in New York?"
"Nothing that I can think of," you said.
You kissed him again, feeling better, and feeling excited about the future that you had with Eddie.
