AVENGER ENDGAME DISCUSSION
** WARNING!!! IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN ENDGAME AND DON'T WAR SPOILERS, DON'T READ THIS!**
Okay, y'all.
I saw Endgame.
First of all, it was... okay. Infinity War was better imo. But there were good emotional, heartfelt scenes that made me like the movie. I love some of it, not all of it.
My favorite funny scene was when Tony said to Rocket, "Up until this moment, I thought you were a Build-A-Bear." and Rocket said, "Maybe I am."
Rocket and Tony are my fav out of the ones that survived the snap, so I was excited to see them interact the two times they did. I wanted more.
My LEAST favorite funny scene? Thor.
Literally. Everything. With. Thor.
They made him a straight up joke. They literally ruined his character and gave him no redemption. Sure he stopped being a drunk loser, but he was still blaming himself, still being made fun of, and still acting like he was stupid. I am so disappointed.
I was also disappointed in the writing around Captain Marvel. Maybe I had my expectations too high, but sending her to space for most of the fight was weird.
Also, her haircut was not as good looking as I thought it would be and I was really looking forward to seeing it but... it isn't as comic book-like as I wanted? And we didn't see a reaction to them being called the Avengers. And we didn't see her reunite with Nick Fury. Idk. Like I said, I had high expectations for her but I understand it isn't her movie, it's the OG 6.
But there are good heartfelt scenes to balance out the crap! Thor and Frigga. Peter P getting hugged by Tony. The dusted coming back!!! The women of the MCU kicking BUTT!!! Hope, Cassie, and Scott being a family. Peter Quill seeing Gamora. Hank Pym having the comic book Ant-Man helmet on his desk! The "after it happens" scene from Avengers! Loki moments!
ROCKET THROWING HIMSELF ON TOP OF GROOT TO TRY TO SAVE HIM!
I LOVE YOU 3000! 💗💓💗💓
ROCKET'S RED SCARF! 💗💓💗💓💗
NEBULA AND ROCKET HOLDING HANDS!
NEBULA/GAMORA SISTER MOMENTS!
NED AND PETER HUGGING!
NED AND PETER H U G G I N G!
TONY GETTING TO TELL STEVE OFF AND HAVE HIS MOMENT OF, "WHAT DID I TELL YOU DOZENS OF TIMES???" AND HAVE HIS, "MY NEEDED YOU - PAST TENSE - TRUMPS YOUR 'NEED ME'"
GET 👏 HIM! 👏 (i forgave steve tho)
Now for the heavy stuff.
They killed off 3/6 of the original Avengers.
Now I don't like Steve, but I knew he was going to die like I knew Tony was. But I am so pleased with how they went.
Tony snapping his fingers and doing the ultimate sacrifice was a huge "screw you" to all the people that called Tony selfish or turned against him. In that moment, he was a hero that achieved everything that he set out to. Thanos was dead, his team was alive, his daughter was still in existence, and things were going to be okay.
He died a hero. He died loved and appreciated. And now he can rest.
Steve's "death" (I say "death" bc he's old as frick and obviously dying soon) was sweet. I'm glad he and Peggy got the ending they deserved. I'm glad he can rest too, knowing that he got that dance with his girl, and that Sam will be a good Captain America.
Now Nat... I actually started to care about her more in Infinity War, and watching her die like that was bittersweet. She deserved better. I wish Clint had died instead. I know she wanted to die for her family, but... it was just odd for me. Idk.
And Gamora staying dead and the Gamora from the past being either dead or lost is annoying. I wish they would've shown if she died in Tony's snap. I hope she didn't. Peter deserves happiness and GOTG3 is gonna suck without her. The Guardians seem empty without Gamora.
So overall, it was alright. Pretty good. Peter is so going to be traumatized though. I am nervous as heck.
Rocket and Peter P are my favs now.
Tony Stark is the strongest Avenger. Don't argue with me. He did THAT for all of us.
What did y'all think of the movie? Let me know!
