Prologue
Summer, 2006
It had been an interesting eleven years for Barbara Gordon. When she was 15, Barbara became Batgirl, becoming one of Batman's new allies and earning his respect. But the thrill of being a superhero was taken from her when The Joker shot her through the spine, paralyzing her from the waist down. At first Barbara hated that she couldn't be Batgirl anymore, she hated that she couldn't walk anymore. But to compensate for her physical disabilities she became a technical field advisor, giving live information to Batman and his allies, becoming a virtual crime fighter known as Oracle.
And then eventually, Barbara was able to regain her ability to walk with a technological spinal implant that was able to undo the damage done by Joker. Now there would often be bad days where the implant would malfunction, and Barbara knew it would be risky to go back as Batgirl. Besides, Barbara had a great successor to Batgirl in Stephanie Brown. Why take away a mantle from Stephanie that she rightfully earned? Barbara decided to let Stephanie be the new Batgirl while Babs would be Oracle to ensure her spinal implant wouldn't break down. Besides, Barbara enjoyed being Oracle. She could do things as Oracle she wouldn't be able to do as Batgirl and she could be everywhere at once in a way.
Today was just another mundane day for Babs as she was on her Mega computer in the Gotham Clocktower. Bruce had asked her to hack into Strategic Homeland International Espionage Logistics Division (SHIELD for short) to learn information on every superhero and supervillain on their digital file, just to see who could be considered an ally or an enemy. An easy enough task for Oracle. This was also because SHIELD knew Bruce was Batman, and the identities of his allies, which concerned Bruce. Barbara hacked into SHIELD and downloaded the files regarding agents, extraterrestrials in the agency's custody, info on HYDRA, and members of the Fantastic Four, The X-Men, and The Avengers respectively. It was easy to learn about the strengths and weaknesses of these heroes and villains. Barbara knew Batman, Nightwing, Robin, and Batgirl would benefit from this information. Although, Barbara could never understand the difference between metahumans and mutants. Weren't they practically the same due to both being super powered beings?
During that time, there was one particular superhero that caught Barbara's attention. The super powered vigilante known as Spider-Man. Barbara had heard about Spider-Man in the papers. He clearly seemed heroic. Babs looked at Spider-Man's SHIELD profile, learning that he was Peter Damian Parker. His parents were SHIELD agents Richard Parker and Mary Parker, both deceased. Peter was currently being raised by May Parker, her husband Ben deceased, older brother of the late Richard Parker. But there was one piece of information that caught Barbara's eye. Richard and Mary were NOT Peter's biological parents! He was adopted by them! Barbara looked at Peter Parker's birth certificate. His birth date was on August 10th, 1988. Barbara looked to see who Peter's birth parents were. Peter's biological parents were Talia Al Ghul and...
"Holy crap..." Barbara said in shock as she read who Peter's biological father was. Babs saved Peter's file on her computer and then got out her cell phone. She called Bruce, and when he picked up, Barbara said, "Bruce, you know how you wanted me to learn information on SHIELD? I found some critical need to know information about Spider-Man. And it has a lot to do with you..."
And that will be the only chapter to be narrated through a third person view. The rest of this story will be narrated through Peter's point of view. And just to clarify, Dick Grayson is Nightwing, Tim Drake is Robin, and Stephanie Brown is the new Batgirl. Jason is resurrected and also Red Hood, but he's made his whereabouts unknown. Remember all that now.
