(PAN UP from UNTIED SHOES - Miles clocks them but definitely DOES NOT TIE THEM. Miles walks through a LOBBY filled with TALLER KIDS in IDENTICAL BLUE UNIFORMS. A cutting-edge LAB SCHOOL in a converted industrial building.)

STUDENT: I love you, Dad!

Isaac: Beat it!

STUDENT: Or what?

(Isaac catches up with his best friend, while Miles awkwardly tries to interact like he was on his street but everyone's so focused.)

MILES: Hey good morning. How you doing?... Weekend was short, huh? (he turns to another kid) Oh my gosh this is embarrassing, we wore the same jacket.

(The UNIFORMED KIDS just pass by. Miles is discouraged.)

PASSING STUDENT: Hey--

MILES: (Hopeful) --Yeah?

PASSING STUDENT: --Your shoe's untied.

MILES: Yeah, I'm aware. It's a choice. (His SHOULDERS DROOP, but Isaac puts an arm around him.)

Isaac: Come on, think of this as another world, like in a video game! And right now, we're at level one.

INT. VISIONS ACADEMY - MONTAGE

MATH TEACHER: Who can solve this for XY? (In front of a BAFFLING FORMULA.)

LOGIC TEACHER: And that is known as a syllogism. (In front of an ELABORATE PROOF.

(IN JUMPCUTS: Miles and Isaac walks back and forth across the hallway. Each time Miles is holding more paper and books in his arms, getting more and more WEIGHED DOWN, while Isaac carries his book with ease.)

SPANISH TEACHER: (V.O.) --en este clase, se habla castellano.

LITERATURE TEACHER: (V.O.) Tonight, read two chapters of Great Expectations.

SCIENCE TEACHER: (V.O.) I'm giving you a take-home quiz on volumetric pressure--

HEALTH TEACHER: (V.O.) --a five page essay with your conclusions stressed--

VARIOUS TEACHERS: (O.S.) Workers Party/ Take-home Work/ Industrial Revolution/ Incapable/ An enormous change/ Unstoppable--

(INT. VISIONS ACADEMY SPANISH CLASSROOM - DAY) 

Isaac hurriedly walked into Spanish class, five minutes late. Everyone in the room stared at him. Embarrassed, he muttered a quick apology and took his seat.Just then, a beautiful girl named Alicia Amor entered the room. She had olive skin, dark hair cascading down her back, and strong features that captured everyone's attention.The teacher quickly introduced Alicia as a new student and asked her to introduce herself.

"Hola, me llamo Alicia Amor. Soy nueva aquí," she said with a warm smile.

The teacher then paused and looked at Isaac. "So, Isaac, why don't you take the opportunity to welcome Alicia to our school by introducing yourself?"

Isaac gave Alicia an uncertain smile, but Alicia returned it with an encouraging one. He cleared his throat and mumbled an introduction.

"Uh, hi, I'm Isaac. It's nice to meet you, Alicia."

"It's nice to meet you too, Isaac," Alicia replied. "Where are you from?"

They talked about their different backgrounds and experiences. As their conversation grew more comfortable, it became clear they were going to be good friends.

INT. VISIONS ACADEMY CLASSROOM - LATER 

(Miles stands in front of Ms. Calleros' desk as she slides azero with a 0/100 written on it.) 

MILES: A zero? A few more of those and youprobably have to kick me outta herehuh? Maybe I'm just not right forthis school? 

MS. CALLEROS: If a person wearing a blind foldpicked the answers on a true orfalse quiz at random, do you knowwhat score they would get? 

MILES: Fifty percent? 

MS. CALLEROS: That's right! 

MILES: Wait wait! 

MS. CALLEROS: The only way to get all the answerswrong, is to know which answerswere right. You're trying to quit.And I'm not going to let you. I'massigning you a personal essay. Notabout physics, but about you andwhat kind of person you want to be. 

INT. DORM ROOM - NIGHT 

(Miles stares at his STACK OF HOMEWORK. He takes out a legalpad to start on his Great Expectations paper. He sighs. He gets a message on his phone where it says, "Look out the window". Miles does and sees Isaac standing there with a smirk on his face. Miles SMILES -- he has a MISCHIEVOUS IDEA.)
