Eda handed Amity an ice pack and Amity placed it on her eye.
"Ugh, I need a sixth sense to let me know what someone is trying to attack me." Luz said, holding an ice pack to her ribs.
"No, what you need is to not do something incredibly stupid and dangerous, like going out and trying to be a vigilante!" Eda said, "Where did you even learn to fight, anyway?!"
Luz smiled.
"Mom spent a couple years in an old, damaged orphanage... it really was a dog-eat-dog world there." Luz said, "She wanted to make sure I didn't end up like she was at the start, so she taught me a little."
Eda pinched the bridge of her nose and let out a long, annoyed, breath through her nose. She was about to retort when the door opened. Alador hobbled in with his cane, moving as quickly as he could, while Odalia simply walked in, not caring.
"Amity, are you okay?!" Alador asked.
"I... I think so." Amity said, pointing at Luz, "T-t-that girl came and saved me."
Alador moved over to Luz.
"I cannot thank you enough for saving my youngest daughter." Alador said, "If there is anything I can do to repay you, just name it."
"I... I was just trying to help." Luz said, "It's what my mom would've done."
"You're Camila's daughter, aren't you?" Alador asked, "Your mom was an incredible person, she had a wonderful personality and always loved to learn. In fact, if you're interested, Blight Industries is giving a tour to young and upcoming inventors and scientists. If you want, you can come and join the tour."
Alador handed a card.
"Thank you again for helping Amity... I didn't get your name." Alador said.
"It's Luz... Luz Clawthorne."
Amity walked up to her and hugged her.
"Thank you for saving me." Amity said, "I... hope to see you on the tour."
Amity and Alador walked out, with Odalia slowly following.
"Well, they seem nice." Luz said, as the door closed, "So, where did you learn to fight like that, Aunt Eda?"
Eda turned to Luz and scowled.
"Go to your room... NOW." Eda said.
Luz looked down and went up the stairs to the apartment. No sooner did she do that, did the door open again.
"Oh, what now?" Eda asked, turning to the door, "Ah, Lily, just when I thought this day couldn't get any worse."
"I just found a crime scene. A few failed muggers all with injuries and a crowbar stuck in the wall." Lilith said, "Some of the police say that it reminds them of the Prowler."
"Lily, it's not-"
"Are you crazy!? What were you thinking!?" Lilith asked, "You can't just-"
"They would've killed Luz!" Eda said, "If you have to arrest me for protecting the girl our sister wanted me to keep safe, then fucking do it!"
Eda held out her wrists and looked at Lilith.
"Come on! If you want to arrest me then do it!" Eda said, "Try it, and you'll see the Prowler come out faster than you can reach your gun."
"Edalyn, you made a promise, you give up being the Prowler in exchange for a-"
"And I made a promise to Camila! I promised I would keep Luz safe! NO MATTER WHAT!" Eda said, "I don't care if I was given a clean slate, I will put that mask back on if someone even looks at Luz wrong."
Lilith reached to her belt and grabbed her gun handle, while Eda closed her fists.
'Only she would bring her fists to a gun fight... and win.' Lilith thought.
'Come on, make the first move. I'll beat your ass until you're the same color as your shitty hair dye.' Eda thought.
It was tense between the sisters, but Lilith relented first, letting go of her gun and turning to the door.
"I'll forget this, as it was self-defense." Lilith said, moving to the door, before stopping, "You aren't the only one that made that promise to Camila. I also promised that I would protect Luz... even if that means having to put YOU in jail... don't bring the Prowler back... I can't help you this time if you do."
Lilith walked out of the café and Eda fell into a nearby seat.
"Damn it... Cam... I won't break my promise... even if it means getting sent to jail... or worse."
