Walking
Jimmy Solidarity was not having a good day.
In the morning, when he'd overslept and had to practically sprint down the street to his school (thankfully he only lived about a five minute walk away), he'd thought that it sucked, but surely the rest of the day wouldn't be that bad, right?
He was swiftly proven wrong by a multitude of things, including (but not limited to):
•Tripping and hitting his face on his locker
•Falling asleep in class and getting shouted at by the teacher
•Unintentionally insulting FWhip by jokingly calling him an idiot and not realising how annoyed he sounded
•Getting hit in the back of the head by a book as he was leaving school and falling into a puddle
He was complaining about this as he walked home. "And then someone threw a- book, or something- I couldn't see who it was- and I fell and now I'm all wet." Jimmy grumbled, earning himself a somewhat sympathetic laugh from his best friend Joel.
The taller of the two paused, brushing the strands of his dyed green streak of hair out of his face before speaking again. "Well- everyone has bad days, dude. Is your sister gonna be home, by the way?" Joel added slowly.
"Wow, you are- so helpful." Jimmy muttered, shooting his brown-eyed companion an amused glance. "Your crush on my sister is toootally not obvious at all." The dark blonde added sarcastically, earning himself a shove from Joel. "She's totally gonna be interested in my classmate, who's three years younger than her."
"Hey- three years isn't that much!" Joel protested. "And- well- you should have tried not having a cute sister, then." The brunette huffed as they turned a corner.
Jimmy rolled his eyes. "That's- no- she's- stop being weird about Lizzie." He protested lamely, but in all seriousness, he didn't really care if Joel liked Lizzie. The dark blonde grimaced as he looked around. "Man, we need to find a different route, this street is creepy. It's right next to the weird lab thingy. Nobody likes it there." He added.
"Eh. Scott does. He's got an internship thing there, right?" Joel said thoughtfully.
"I don't know- I don't really talk to him!" Jimmy said sharply. "Swiftly moving on- I just think we should maybe take a different route." He said, frowning slightly as Joel began waving in front of his face wildly with a panicked shriek.
"STUPID- INSECT- PERISH-" Jimmy blinked as something landed on his hand and glanced down to see a small spider that Joel had batted away.
"Dude, it's tiny. Calm down." The younger of the two said with a snort of laughter, raising his hand to bring the spider up to eye level and studying it with a curious expression. "I don't think it's even a type that bites."
"It's evil." Joel protested. "Spiders are lame."
"No they aren't! They're just little guys." Jimmy said lamely. "It doesn't even- oh my god, okay, it does bite, it DOES-" He shook his hand wildly, sending the spider flying and landing somewhere nearby presumably. "Damn, I thought those ones didn't bite-"
"I told you, genius." Joel squinted at Jimmy's hand. "Is that one poisonous?"
"The term would be venomous, actually, and... I don't think so? It's only a bit- red. The spider wasn't too big, I don't think it'd do anything." Jimmy said, staring at his hand as well. "Oh well."
"Man, I don't care what the 'scientific term' is." Joel said mockingly. "You've been spending too much time with FWhip, he's a nerd."
"He's not a nerd! He's just studying zoology." The dark blonde snapped back, frowning. "He's cool."
"So cool that you call him an idiot?" Joel teased, dodging a half-hearted punch from Jimmy with a laugh.
"Shut uuuup!" Jimmy whined. "I didn't know he'd take me seriously. I thought I sounded joking. But apparently I sounded annoyed."
He added with a sigh.
"Calm down, your crush will forgive you." His friend said cheerfully, grinning as Jimmy's face went bright red.
He tried to say that he just thought FWhip was cool, that he was just really good friends with FWhip, that Jimmy didn't tease Joel about Lizzie, but all he could let out was a panicked, "NO!"
Joel raised both eyebrows with a surprised expression. "Okay. If you say so." Jimmy frowned.
"Oh, shut up, loser." He mumbled before changing the subject as they reached the apartment block Jimmy lived in. "Well, I have to- go now. Bye, Joel-" Joel mumbled a goodbye, staring after him and adding something about Lizzie before walking away.
After struggling to climb the many flights of stairs that always caused a problem for him (Jimmy could use the lift- or the 'elevator', he supposed- but the walk up the stairs was the only time he got to himself), he finally reached the apartment he shared with Lizzie, pushing the door open with a huff.
It was just Lizzie's apartment technically, since she was the one who paid for everything, but Jimmy found it funnier to refer to it as his apartment as well.
Lizzie glanced away from where she was sat by the window as Jimmy walked in, grinning. "Hey Jim Jammm. How was school?"
"Stop calling me- it was okay, I guess." Jimmy said with a shrug, dropping his backpack by the door and closing it behind him with a yawn. "Just- school."
"What classes did you have?" Lizzie queried, getting up from her seat on the floor (there was a couch not far away from her but she always seemed to prefer sitting on the floor).
"Just... normal. Classes. The normal ones. Maths. English... Literature. Biology. Um... Programming, that was fun." The dark blonde said, sitting on the couch. "How was your day?"
"Uh- it was okay I guess. I arrested someone! Pix was there too, I guess. This guy was drunk driving and he- hit someone, so they're in hospital, that sucks, but the guy is in custody now, so that's cool." The pink haired woman announced brightly, walking towards the TV. Sometimes I forget she's a police constable, dude- she does not seem cool enough for that.
"Cool, cool, fun, fun. Well I have- homework to do, so I'm gonna- Lizzie, no." Jimmy sighed as his sister pulled out the Nintendo Switch from under the TV stand, grinning.
"What? Scared you'll lose to the master of Mario Kart?" Lizzie challenged, her grin swiftly becoming a smirk as Jimmy sighed.
"Fine, one game so I can kick your ass at Mario Kart and then I'm doing homework."
"Yay!"
