After the school day ended, Joel came over to Jimmy's house to help him try and figure out what they would do about 'the web situation' (as Joel had dubbed it).

"I just- don't mention it to Lizzie, 'mkay?" Jimmy mumbled as he reached for the door handle. "She has enough to worry about without being confused about web thingies."

"Mhm, yep, sure, you gonna open that door?" Joel asked brightly as Jimmy shot him an amused glance.

"Sure. You get five minutes of chatting-to-Lizzie time." The dark blonde said with a snort of laughter as he pushed the door open. Joel mumbled something about shutting up before walking into the apartment. Jimmy followed close behind, dropping his bag on the ground and closing the door behind him.

Lizzie glanced up from her spot on the floor. "Oh, hey Jim Jam! And Joel! Lovely to see you, you haven't been round since- what, last week?" She said with an amused expression.

"Uh... yeah, hi, I- how- how did that- what happened to the murderer you arrested?" Joel asked slowly. That's actually a good plan, Lizzie will talk about her work for hours.

As his sister started rambling about a court date and how she had to provide evidence, Jimmy leaned over and whispered in Joel's ear, "Five minutes," before turning around and heading to his room.

Sure enough, Joel joined him a couple minutes later, a dazed smile on his face. "Your sister is awesome, dude."

"I know. Anyway-" Jimmy paused, huffing out a sigh as he pulled the hoodie off and flopped back tiredly on the bed. "What now?" He asked lamely, holding up one arm and pulling back the sleeve of his t-shirt so that the webbing was basically fully stretched out. I could probably actually glide with that, man.

"Uh... I don't know? Have you noticed anything else weird happen during the day?" Joel queried. "I mean, I was with you for most classes, but not all, so..."

"Not really. Just- my hands sticking to stuff. I accidentally pulled one of the keys off of my laptop's keyboard." Jimmy said with a sigh. "I just lied and said it was already broken."

"The best strategy when you break something, honestly." The brunette said wisely, sitting on the bed next to his friend after glancing around for a moment. "So- do you have any idea what might have- oh, robbery on Stratos again." Joel muttered disapprovingly as a notification flashed up on his phone, referencing one of the biggest banks in Empiria (although it was also the street name of multiple streets- very confusing when you were trying to use Google Maps).

"Is it that 'supervillain' guy?" Jimmy said, making air quotes with his hands. "The- light manipulator one? Uh- Stupid or somethin'?" He asked curiously, sitting up.

"Cupid." Joel corrected him with a laugh. "Stupid would fit him though. And yeah. Him and the crazy water guy-" His taller friend squinted at the screen, reading slowly and sounding out the word. "Le...vi-a-than. Weird-ass name."

"Isn't it like- something to do with mythology?" Jimmy said curiously.

"I think so." Joel shrugged. "Man, supervillains suck. We need like- a superhero or something-" His best friend broke off, a mischievous smile forming on his face. "Jimmy, I just had the greatest idea ever." A pause. "Albeit, a slightly dangerous one." The brunette added after a moment.

"What... are you thinking?" Jimmy asked slowly, frowning. Joel's 'greatest ideas ever' were normally quite dangerous, and the fact that Joel had specified it might be dangerous meant it was going to be more so than usual.

"So- you can glide, right? Theoretically?" Joel said slowly.

"Yes...?" Jimmy's frown deepened. Where is this going-

"Ah. Noted. Cool." Is that it?

"What the- greatest idea ever, then?" The dark blonde asked curiously, and Joel simply shook his head.

"I'll- tell you later, I just need to test a few things-" Joel paused thoughtfully. "Let's see if you can do the sticky hand thing on command-" The taller of the two suddenly reached for one of the textbooks on Jimmy's bed and threw it at him.

Immediately the dark blonde felt an odd sensation- it was as if everything had almost slowed down slightly. He sat up, awkwardly reached out and grabbed the textbook. Then everything sped up again as Joel stared at him.

"How did you-" His best friend frowned. "Your reaction time is awful, how did you do that?" Joel asked, his expression a mix of confused, startled and awed.

"I don't... know." Jimmy said thoughtfully. "It's kinda- I just knew it was- there? It was like- a weird tingly feeling... I don't know. Everything got really slow." He finished lamely as Joel stared back at him.

"Huh. Let's add 'weird tingly thing that knows when stuff is gonna hit you' to the list of new stuff then." The brunette paused, taking the book out of Jimmy's hand. "Don't need this anymore, I guess." Jimmy frowned, making an odd motion with his hand as Joel threw the book across the room. The frown became more of a shocked expression as a thin material shot across the room, pulling the book back to hit Jimmy in the face.

The dark blonde barely registered Joel's startled shriek, moving the book and rubbing his nose gingerly. "Dude, that hurt- what the hell was that?"

His best friend reached over and tugged lightly on the material that had pulled the book across the room- it looked like a spider's web...?

It was at this moment that Jimmy realised the web-like material had come from a small gap (slit?) in his wrist that had not been there before.

Jimmy let out a panicked sound as well, hastily ripping the web in half and shrinking away from it. Immediately, the slit in his wrist- which seemed to be the source of the web- closed over.

Joel studied the web for a moment before speaking.

"So we agree it was the spider that caused all this, right?"

Jimmy knows all of his powers now (kinda) wooo

I gave him like- organic webs (like Tobey Maguire's Spiderman) because let's be honest nobody in his friend group is smart enough to make fake ones

So yeah he does have the regular Spiderman abilities (sticking to walls, spidey-sense, webs) but he also has silly lil gliding flap things
