safe place

Months went by and soon enough Rouge was 18.

Spencer every single year since she was 3, wanted his sister to have a taste of happiness. Whether it be he read to her or snuck her up something sweet he swiped from the kitchen, he always wanted her to have a bit of happiness every year. This year was much better than sweets or books, they were escaping.

It was also the perfect night since their father had decided to go to the bar to get drunk, which would mean more pain if they didn't get out that night.

They were as quiet as a mouse, waiting for the door slam. The slam of the front door came as a blessing to their ears, it meant they could finally leave this place. Them being legal adults meant they could leave at free will without the worry of there father calling them to the police as run always and trying to get them back for more pain. They knew if he did, the police would tell him that they were legal adults and didn't have to stay.

Spencer gave her a short curt nod after they heard their father's car drive away. Rouge ran over to Spencer's closet to grab the bags they had packed the night before with food they swiped and what little clothes they had. Spencer ran to the window and unlocked it before taking the 2 backpacks from his sister and setting them on the roof.

They both put on sweatshirts before Spencer helped Rouge out the window then getting out himself. They put the sadly light weight backpacks on before they climbed down and started the run into the woods, hand in hand to not lose one another as they ran.

They ran for hours before Rouge had to stop. Feeling her legs wanting to give out, she leaned against a tree trying to catch her breath and rest for a moment. "Sherlock, you ok?" Spencer asked walking up to her, having stopped when she did.

"I- I need a break, Spence," she told him putting her hands on the tree for more support.

"Alright, we'll take a break. Then we can rent a hotel room, freshen up, and find jobs," Spencer told her, also now leaning against the tree.

"What about your old one?" Rouge asked him concerned a bit.

Spencer turned to look at her, "I quit, he was going to look their anyways," he explained smoothly.

"You got laid off?" She questioned with a straight face knowing he was lying about quitting from the way his eyes darted from hers. She had begun to deduce her family in hopes to know when their father might blow up.

"Yep."

They had luckily made it to the hotel before sundown, and thankfully there was one room left. The lady at the front desk was kind enough to lend them a computer, an older one but it still worked. They were happy about it, seeing it as a leg up their situation.  She also has given them her copy of the newspaper to look at job ads.

Spencer was on the computer currently writing an Email to his teacher about how he taught Rouge everything he learned and asking her if Rouge could take a test to graduate so she could work next to him. The teacher luckily said yes, having faith in Spencer as he was one of the best students they had. They promptly set up a time and place for Rouge and him to take the test.

Rouge, however, was working on circling every add they qualified for on the newspaper. She was able to find plenty of gardening and cleaning jobs for them to take, which paid by the hour which was good.

"Ok so you and I, can take the tests to graduate and get our degree in criminology, tomorrow at noon in that little coffee shop down the street," Spencer told her as he looked up from the computer.

"Well that's good, also I found us a couple mini jobs like cleaning, gardening, and other little jobs," Rouge responded feeling proud of herself.

"Good, then I suggest we head to bed so we can take that test and do those jobs, then if we both pass, we can call a cab go into the city and apply for a job at the B.A.U.," Spencer explained to her.

"Alright, night Spencer."

"Night Rouge."

The next day came and went with happiness showing on their faces. They were able to take the test and pass with flying colors. The teacher had also told them she'd put in a good word at the B.A.U. which they were overjoyed about.

They also took up the jobs Rouge had found the day before, earning bonuses from the little old ladies they helped out with gardening and cleaning. Things like cookies or even cash.

Happiness overwhelmed their faces, the icing on the beautiful cake was the homemade lasagna the woman at the front desk, Miss. Carol, made them. They were finally safe, eating well, and sleeping sound.

"Hello, Miss. Carol," Rouge and Spencer said in unison with smiles adorned on there faces.

"Hello, you two. Going to apply for that job?" Miss. Carol asked as she gesturing to their nicer clothes, getting happy nods from the siblings. "Well good luck you two." She treated them as her children and they thought of her as a mom they never truly got to have.

"Thank you," Spencer and Rouge told her and walked out the door with a wave. They asked Miss. Carol to call for a taxi for them, which she had agreed too and saw to it that they got a taxi. They told the driver where to go and they were off.

It took them about an hour to get there. They paid the Taxi driver and went inside. They were greeted by smiles and nods as they walked over to the front desk. The man kindly gave them paperwork to fill out the registration papers. Rouge and Spencer sat next to each other filling the papers out before each of them writing a little note on the back.

If at all possible I would like to work with my (brother/sister), (Spencer/Rouge) Reid. (my brother/I) was top of (his/my) class and (he/I) taught (me/her) everything (he/I) know(s). we work amazingly together, and if you do let us work together we won't let you down.

They both handed over their papers to the man, who stood up then told them to sit down since it would be a while to see if they got in. The siblings sat down and waited for hours till they were called in.

They walked into a room an hour expecting the worst like they usually did, but they were shocked to hear the next words, "Welcome to the team, Reids."  They both smiled shaking the hand that was extended to them.

They knew they were finally safe, they knew they wouldn't be hurt by their father again. Superman and Supergirl have finally found their justice league.
