The next morning Annabeth was doing her regular walk by the table, but Harry and Ron grabbed a package and ran off. She blinked, rolling her eyes, and made for her table.

Percy was still by the door though, another First Year had stopped him to ask about the homework from the other night. So he heard the whole exchange between Harry, Ron, Malfoy, and Flitwick. He grinned to himself, only half present to the conversation he was in.

When the Gryffindor boys ran off and the Hufflepuff he had been talking to went to talk to someone else, he made a beeline for Annabeth.

He bent over, resting a hand on the table and one on her lower back. He chuckled and she turned to him with furrowed brows. He licked his lips before whispering about the encounter to her softly. Her grey eyes lit up as she giggled, covering her mouth. The Ravenclaws around her went wide-eyed at the display, blinking when the Hufflepuff boy grinned at Annabeth before leaving.

"What?" Annabeth asked as she turned back to the girls sitting around her.

"That was Percy Jackson." One whispered. Her black hair was up in poofy pigtails, brown eyes blown wide. Her plump lips made a large 'o' as her jaw dropped. "You know him?"

"Bestfriends since we were little." Annabeth said, raising an eyebrow and tilting her head. "You make it sound like a big deal. We were bestfriends in New York, my parents moved here two years ago because of work, and then his mom did the same the year after." She took a bite of pancakes.

"What's he like?" The other girl asked, her blonde hair was pulled back into a very tight braid, falling to her shoulders, and her blue eyes were also very wide.

"Annoying?" Annabeth said, joking. "Really nice, and kind. You make a friend out of him and you have a friend for life." The demigod smiled wide before eating the rest of her food. The two girls tried to ask her more questions but she managed to escape.

Percy smiled softly at her when she walked up to him. She frowned at him, which made him frown. Taking a deep breath the girl just rolled her eyes and smiled too. That brought the smile right back on his face, and they walked off to their classes.

Time passes, classes and watching Harry and Ron make for a full schedule until the months are blurred together and its Halloween.

In Charms they both get the Floating Charm right off the bat, Latin just comes easier to them.

It's now well known that the two First Years are bestfriends, and have been for quite sometime. Annabeth ignores the looks the girls, and lets be honest-some guys, give her. Percy just doesn't notice them, too busy with homework and talking to Annabeth to care about it.

Man, Annabeth thought to herself, Hogwarts students are petty.

That day Annabeth heard about Hermione in the bathroom, so she made sure to go that way, Percy in tow. The blonde had made a point of studying with the Gryffindor girl at least once a week. Therefore, she knew what was going through the girl's brain at the moment.

She walked in, Percy waiting outside. "Hey, Hermione." She smiled sweetly and sat down by the crying girl. "I heard about what happened. If it makes it any better, those boys looked really guilty to me."

Hermione sniffled, chuckling sadly. "They are just so-ugh!" She threw her hand in the air and shook her head. Her bushy hair tickled Annabeth's nose, but she didn't say anything.

"I know, trust me, boys can be so weird sometimes." Annabeth rolled her eyes and sighed a sigh of longsuffering. "I won't make you come to the feast, I know a thing or two about wanting to wallow a little." She pat Hermione's knee. "But know that I'm here for you, and I'm sure Harry and Ron want to make amends, they just have the attention span of nats."

"You're right." Hermione smiled weakly. "I'll be down soon, just need a bit to freshen up a bit."

"Good." Annabeth grinned. "See you later Hermione, we still have a study session tomorrow." The blonde walked out of the bathroom, with a smile at the girl, grabbed Percy's hand as he smirked at her, and pulled him towards the Great Hall.

The Great Hall, by the way, was fully decked out in Halloween décor. Percy fawned over everything and Annabeth had to drag him to his table.

When Quirrell came in about a troll, Annabeth and Percy knew they had to check it out. They slipped away from their Prefects and made to go down to the dungeons when they thought it through. They didn't trust the DADA teacher.

Percy was about to say something when he saw Harry and Ron rushing off. "Hermione." He muttered. "They're going after Hermione, we need to watch them." Annabeth nodded, and they both took off.

When they followed, Annabeth slipped her cap out of her robes-having taken to carrying it everywhere with her. She didn't put it on yet, just trailing behind the two boys with Percy. Neither demigod made a sound, watching as Harry and Ron made the mistake of locking the troll in with Hermione.

Percy growled, low in his throat, hand reaching for Riptide out of habit, and feet starting toward the bathroom once the boys flung themselves inside.

However.

Annabeth stopped him, a hand on his chest.

"This would have happened if we were here or not, I think it's important we let this happen." Percy hated that she made sense. "We'll step in if we have to."

And they did have to step in.

Running into the bathroom before the teachers could, and making a scene about being confused about what happened. Annabeth fawning over Hermione as Percy place a hand on her girlfriend's back and cast wary looks at the other two boys.

When the teachers came in and asked what was going on, Percy stepped up. Hermione was about to talk, but Annabeth grabbed her hand and gave her a look.

"Mrs. McGonagall, I can explain." He rubbed the back of his head, feigning the bit of a student caught where they shouldn't have been. "You see, the four of us," He gestured to himself, Annabeth, Harry, and Ron. "knew that Hermione was here when Quirrell came in to warn us. We thought it'd be safe enough to just run and grab her, then get right back to our dorms. The troll was supposed to be in the dungeons and all."

Annabeth nodded vigorously, eyes wide as she acted frightened and worried about her friend she was holding onto. "Percy and I got here after Harry and Ron, the troll stormed into the bathroom and was going after Hermione. Harry and Ron managed to subdue it when Ron lifted up the troll's own club with the spell we learn in class and let it drop down onto the thing's head." She rushed her words a bit, not to sound like she was lying, but as if she was very scared and needed to process everything.

"Yeah," Percy went on, stepping up beside Annabeth, "we caught the last little bit as we ran in here. We would have gotten one of you, but you all rushed out and I know for a fact I couldn't fight my way through the crowd of other kids to get to my Prefect." He turned his green eyes on his teachers, wide and pouting. Annabeth had deemed it his 'baby seal' eyes. They came in handy every once in a while.

"I see." McGonagall said, sniffing as she kept her frown on. "Well, I can't very well punish you for trying to look out for your friends." The other teachers nodded, though Snape was a bit disgruntled about it. Both demigods had already taken stock of their teacher's appearances.

Snape had a bit of a limp as he checked over the troll.

Percy stored the information away for later.

"Five point to Gryffindor for Ronald's good spell work, and you each," She vaguely motioned to the other three that had ran after Hermione. "get a point each for looking out for your classmates." Her eyes turned into steel. "However, do not let this incident repeat itself."

With that they were dismissed.

As they walked Ron and Harry finally spoke up.

"Who the blood hell are you two?" Ron broke the silence, finally after a lot of glancing at Percy and Annabeth.

"Percy Jackson." Percy smirked, waving casually before he stuffed his hands into his pants' pockets.

"Annabeth Chase." Annabeth spoke, still holding Hermione's hand. "We're friends with Hermione."
